Returning from war, Noah braces himself after his wife’s betrayal. She sent a letter while he was away, divorcing him and taking their only daughter. Will Noah accept reality despite his rage, or is something worse waiting for him?
For Her Sake, Volume 1 is a short and engaging romance. It’s just under 200 pages. It centers around a widower, his daughter, and the nanny who’s been helping raise the child and run the household. After a few years, the relationship between the man and the nanny eventually get married. It focuses on the early days of their marriage and the dynamics within their little family.
While the story is primarily about the romance between the nanny and the father, there are also a few complications involving the daughter that add depth to the plot. The book includes a few intimate scenes, but they’re well written and feel natural to the progression of the relationship. Unlike some romance novels where the steamy scenes can feel out of place, this one handles them with a tactful, thoughtful approach that fits the story and characters well.
I really enjoyed the characters and found the writing immersive. There’s even a hint of mystery introduced toward the end that caught my attention and left me curious enough to want to continue the series.
Overall, if you’re looking for a quick, character-driven romance with steamy but meaningful scenes, I definitely recommend giving this a try.
This is the first book I’ve read by TalbotStories and I’ll definitely be reading more. I enjoyed that the book was short enough to fully keep my attention from start to finish.
What do you get when you mix a heartbroken war hero with a virgin maid, (who’s secretly an assassin) and a daughter who wants a little brother or sister? An unexpected love story with tons of secrets and surprises. There were some spicy scenes in this book, but I felt they were done tastefully without the awkwardness or vulgarity that I’ve read other books.
I can’t wait to learn more about The Raven and the extent of his magical powers. I would have to say the only thing that I felt was lacking in this book was a deeper understanding of the magic. Despite that I absolutely devoured this book. The ending has it set up perfectly to start book 2, and that is exactly what I am going to do as soon as I have time. As much as I hate a cliffhanger ending, it works very well here and book 2 is written already so I don’t have to wait!
