Otago families farewelled servicemen and women to serve around the world. Some returned to build a life, some did not return yet lived on in the hearts and minds of family and friends. But in both cases, the record contained here of servicemen reflects a deep level of dedication and service.

- Anglo-Boer War (the Royal Scots Greys)
- World War One (pages are coded Blue) - World War Two, (pages are coded Yellow) and
- H.M.S Neptune.
The service profiles are designed to be read side by side with the timelines. This book includes a special dedication section on the H.M.S. Neptune. Find included the Service Biography of an Otago naval reserve member, A.V. Campbell. He served on board and did not return home. Presumed missing at first, rumours circulated that there may be large numbers held as prisoners of war, sadly this was not the case. This record tells his story of service and sacrifice that continues to be remembered today. Commemorating 80 Years Since the Naval Loss of H.M.S. Neptune
