*spoiler* I highly enjoyed reading this book. I was not necessarily looking for it in the library but when I came across the title 'Questioning Geography' I knew it would be an interesting read, one that I HAD to read. The title had given me the impression of a book that would critically evaluate and analyse Geography, as a subject and a discipline taught at the various academic levels. It did so exactly. I enjoyed the different discussions regarding the history of the discipline, its development throughout time, the various battles and differences between the physical and human aspects, its policy relevance in today's society and the talk of education in general. I love reading critical books, and ones that manage to effectively bring in a fair amount of both sides, whilst aiming to unify the discipline.

I mostly enjoyed the last chapter because it allowed me to appreciate Castree's writing style. He wrote on a very personal level and used rhetorical devices (subtle) to make me think about this education that I am starting. ''Education is political''. He gave his own opinions but left room for you to think for yourself, making use of suitable examples including that of his own. I have now come to take my study much more seriously, as in make it become much more part of me and control the ways it will shape my identity. Regardless of the issues that have been raised, it has helped me to appreciate this favourite subject of mine.

I am very glad I read it at the start of my degree as it has successfully and positively changed my outlook and helped me to reconsider what I want to get out of this degree. To anyone starting a degree, of course, considering the amount you are spending in monetary terms and time/energy wise, it is important to read an analytical and evaluative book regarding it. I am fond of books that make you think effectively and this one definitely did, resulting in important changes being made that could affect the future. It successfully catered to its title and I just had to tell everyone studying Geography to read it. Great read!
