Materials science includes the design and discovery of new materials. It is an interdisciplinary field which uses the concepts of physics, chemistry and engineering to understand materials and metallurgy. Materials science strives to understand the impacts of the history of a material on its structure, properties and performance. The materials paradigm refers to the understanding of the relationships between processing, structure and properties. It is used for researches in various areas such as nanotechnology, metallurgy and biomaterials. Forensic engineering and failure analysis including investigation of materials, structures and products also utilizes materials science. This book attempts to understand the multiple branches that fall under the discipline of materials science and how such concepts have practical applications. A number of latest researches have been included to keep the readers up-to-date with the global concepts in this area of study.
Heather Dale is a Canadian Celtic indie recording artist, touring musician and storyteller. Born and based in Toronto, she began her career by performing at Society for Creative Anachronism historical re-creation events; she has been a medieval-era re-creator since 1993 and is known by the name 'Mistress Marian of Heatherdale' within the group. She was elevated to the Order of the Laurel, the Society's highest award for achievement in the arts, in 2001.
Heather has released more than ten studio albums, several of which are entirely based on Arthurian myths and legends. Heather also released a 120-page story/songbook called The Legends of Arthur in November 2006; it has sheet music arrangements for all of her Arthurian songs. The book also includes Heather's re-telling of the whole King Arthur story, in the form of 27 traditionally-inspired stories that were originally released as part of Heather's fan newsletter.
In 2014, she started releasing chapters of an audio book version of The Legends of Arthur as a free podcast, read by herself and featuring instrumental version of many of her songs in the background. The audio book in its entirety was one of the pledge rewards during the crowdfunding campaign of her Celtic Avalon stage show.
