I browsed through the other reviews to see if there was anything I could add that hadn't been mentioned already, and most of them are fairly accurate, although there are a few incorrect statements being made. Yes, the Hammer novels tend to get repetitive with the wording and ideas within, and even with the sexual scenes described within. However, I also find that each of the characters within the novels are more developed than the characters I've seen in other m/m novels, enough that they none of the vast collection of characters seem to mesh and appear the same.
*possible spoilers for other Hammer novels ahead*
I also feel the need to clear up some misconceptions mentioned in the previous reviews. There have been claims that the timeline is off. I don't believe this is so. For instance, people ask where Jim is, if he came out before Tanny? I believe Bent is set later than Tanny's books because in later stories, where Marcus and Jim finally go to meet Marcus's friends, Tanny is there, which leads me to believe that Bent is one of the latest books in the Hammer series, for all that it's the first in the list. Jim also states often enough how he doesn't think Tanny likes him because Tanny understands his addiction to coffee. Therefore, it stands to reason how Jim wouldn't appear in any of Tanny's books and why Marcus is single, because Tanny and Bill came first.
There's also the misconception that Margaret died in the second book of Tanny's series, in Snared, however this is also false. Margaret died in one of the later books, Control I believe the name was. In Control, Tanny has difficulty because he lost a friend at work, and Jim tries to help him get into subspace so he can be helped by Bill. It's a novel that comes after the three books in Tanny's series, therefore it makes sense why Margaret is alive in Owned.
All in all, I loved Owned and the other two books in Tanny and Bill's universe, and I very much enjoyed reading about their adventures, especially since Tanny has always been the type of person to know himself and what he'll allow, and how he hands control over to Bill, even though he struggles with it at times. They're two great characters and while I wish we got to see more of them in other Hammer novels and how they interact, I like them having their own little novellas just as much, if not more than that. I would definitely recommend this novel and others to readers who like reading m/m fiction and is looking for actual plot and character development over ten+ pages of sex. Again, everything stated above is due to my own reading of the novels so I can only hope I'm not providing you other readers with false information.
