Although I gave this a two-star review, I have to say that it is a great resource for learning about church history, filled with primary source documents and detailed explanations of complicated historical events. Unfortunately, the authors did not do a good job simplifying it down enough for amateur readers. Theological jargon abounds without adequate explanation, and this can be crippling for some of the events documented. Even the vocabulary is over the top, to the point where I could skim whole paragraphs and barely understand a single word that was said. But as stated before, it is filled with documents from the time periods discussed, so it is a great resource.
