Lamont Morgan is set to attend his best friend Dave's wedding. The only problem is that Dave is an insufferable matchmaker, despite the fact that he isn't very good at it, and Lamont isn't looking forward to dealing with his friend's good intentions. So he hires an escort, Landon Prentice, to attend the wedding as his boyfriend. The men spend the flight to the vacation spot getting to know one another and setting up their ruse, but Lamont quickly realizes that he is attracted to Landon on a very real level. Several heated kisses in the back of a limo to ensure that the men are completely at ease with one another proves that there is a spark that neither man can deny.

This is a fun story, one that very much reminded me of the movie The Wedding Date with Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney. I liked the extensive set-up, the time the men spent getting to know one another, at least well enough to pass for lovers. Landon is very good at his job, and quickly the two men are at ease with one another. Things get a bit complicated when there are very real feelings, at least on Lamont's side, and he's unsure how Landon feels. When Lamont has quite a bit to drink at his friend's commitment ceremony and makes a proposition which is a veiled attempt to reveal his true feelings, things don't go as he had hoped they would. I liked the story quite a bit, although I wish there had been a lot more. There is quite a bit of time spent when the men are first meeting, but once they arrive we don't get to see them spending time together and instead the story jumps toward the end. I knew where the story was going to go but I felt I missed out on seeing the men spend time together, getting to know one another even more. It would have made the angst of the ending a bit more powerful, and the emotions they expressed more real. Overall I enjoyed reading the story, and wish there had been more.

My biggest complaint? The two guys' names were too similar and I sometimes got them mixed up. Anyway, Lamont is going to the Carib for his friend's wedding and he just KNOWS they are going to try and set him up so he gets the name of an escort Landon (see?) and takes him along as his new lover. They have instant chemistry but Lamont tries to remember that he's paying the guy to be all lovey and its not real. The night of the wedding he gets wasted and make a play for Landon which goes badly after he offers to pay extra. Eeek. He freaks and tells his friend and confesses it Landon is an escort and he screwed up. They go back home and Lamont breaks down and calls Landon to confess he wants him forever.

*** 2.5 stars ***

“I learned my lesson some time ago. Nothing’s worth it if you’re not happy.”

Look promising from the start but then feel like downhill reading half the rest part.
I think it little bit to "rush" when in the middle, and I felt like I lost the "connection" between the two "L & L" until it force me to deduct my rate in extreme way...cuz even though I love the first half of the book, the rest of it just ended as "just another so-so reading" for me...

And YES, the main characters name are too similar, and it kept me confused all the time ! Lol !

4.5 stars. Lamont is heading to his friends wedding in the Caribbean. Dave is a notorious matchmaker, and Lamont wants to avoid this. He hires Landon, a professional escort, to attend the weekend long event with him, posing as his partner. Landon and Lamont are endearing together. Misunderstandings are of course involved, but it was so sweet, and had it been longer, I think would have been a 5 star for me.
