Doubt vol.4. 3.5/5 stars

For me this manga series was good/ok but i have problems with storylines and characters.

Characters here are not very likable nor compelling, i did not attach or invested in anyone of them till the end of the story. I didn’t really care who live or die ,just want to know who is the killer.

About storylines, honestly I felt like i just watched everything goes by. As the story goes, it has no connection with the readers (at least for me). I didn’t have to think, to really suspect or to feel for any characters at all. Like i can just guess from early on who is the wolf and then sit and watched through the whole thing without invested in the story. It could be more mysterious, compelling, complex and more believable.

Ah and one more thing, i had to go back and re-reading panels a bit too often because many time the drawings were not clear as to what was happening or to whom a dialogue was coming from.

Anyway, I like the theme of the book though, there’s one wolf disguised among the rabbits and they have to find it out before it kills everyone which is not an easy task since you can trust no one and it could be anyone, that’s what interested me in the first place.

I rarely read this book gendre(horror/thriller). And although it was not bad at all, this series is definitely not my cup of tea !

It all ends here, did the rabbits won or did the wolf kill them all?
A great volume to end the series. It has it all, killings, agony and unexpected turnovers

P.s. Im happy with myself because i found who the wolf is since vol 1.

I really enjoyed this series. I definitely need to reread it though, because I think I got lost somewhere and confused between characters. It's very fast-paced and doesn't exactly give the reader time to keep up.

Ok so... I finished these books in 2019. I forgot to add it to my list though.

I don't remember much but I didn't really enjoy them that much... I think 3 stars would suffice.

Im pretty sure I didn't enjoy them because I had high hopes for them.

Group of high-schoolers stuck in a game called rabbit doubt.
They're all basically rabbits but the twist is that one of them is a wolf. The group has to work together and find out who the wolf is and eliminate him. If they choose wrong and eliminate a rabbit then all of the players except the wolf die...

That premise sounded absolutely amazing to me and I really loved the cover too yet when I started it, it was pretty boring. It was really fast paced yet it didn't really stand out to me much.

I saw the twist coming anddd... yeah 3 stars.

I knew it!

This was a weird one, a bit confusing and predictable in places but I really enjoyed it overall. 👌

I reviewed the first volume of Doubt with initial thoughts and expectations for the series. I ended up skipping reviewing volumes 2 and 3 in favor of reviewing the whole series once I completed the fourth and final volume.
What started off as an strong, character driven psychological thriller winded up boiling down to waiting for the established elements of the genre to show their face. As the volumes progressed the story boiled down to red herring after red herring. One of two smokescreens in a thriller aren't a bad thing at all. In fact, they're great and are awesome tools at creating suspense.
The ending of this series is awful. I almost think because this series got a sequel, that it was done to further the continuance of the plot for a future series. I've always thought total body control via hypnotism was a cheesy, stupid, element of horror stories, and this is no exception. It felt like a manga with a progressively lazy plot. What started off as an interesting premise; a SAW like confinement by a mastermind killer, but with more of psychological edge than a body mutilation one, just ends up being another who-dun-it where random facts fly past you at the very end, and it turns the whole story on it's ass. If you believe everything that you are told in volumes 1 – 3, the stunning revelations of volume 4 just feel like a cheat.
I was bummed by this ending. Probably won't read the sequel. In terms of a horror/thriller manga you could probably do worse, but for now I will stick to the Otsuka, Hino, Ito classics. The whole series gets a 2 beginning to end. This particular volume though would definitely get a 1, what with that terrible ending.

This final book did answer all my questions as to what was going on and why the killer was doing what they were doing (no matter how crazy it actually was). However, I did not really like how it ended. I know that this is a personal opinion more than how it was written. I felt that it was shown well, but I would have liked a 'happier' ending.

Review of the total series
This was a quick read (as most comics/graphic novels are for me) and i thought this was a good series overall. It wasn't the scariest but it was thrilling at times. The characters were likeable but i feel like the plot was a bit weird there were too many plot twists honestly. I still enjoyed it but this wasn't anything spectacular.

Was i right about the wolf ? Partly yes (congrats past me), (tho my opinions changed throughout the series) i was definitely surprised tho, so thats super cool
I really took this manga as pure entertainment, like they are surely things that didn't make sense and all of that but i really didn't care lol because it was still exciting and interesting

Big and very very messy spoiler section because i have a lot of feelings lololol

Overall: I like the manga very much. Good characters, good storyline, and 2 out of 3 predictions that I had came true. The characters lack a little chemisty but its a 4 volume manga, I expected that (also, in the manga it's the first time they met).

I liked that the manga has like three plot twists, that's why 2 of my predictions came true. Some parts were a little predictable but overall I was shocked. I really liked the main character and other character and their intentions, but I would've liked an extra chaper or two to get to know all the characters a little better and understand their connection to eachother more. The thing that takes the cake for me is the ending, I didn't saw it comming.

On the down side: I think that the reasons behind the wolf isn´t "enough" of a reason to justify the killings and the whole Rabbit Doubt Game isn't that relevant if you think about it, the killer could've just killed the people in a different context and it wouldn't alter the story that much. Also, the characters weren't as connected between each other as I thought they would be and they didn't seem to care who died (lol) so neither did I.

Anyway, I gave it 4 stars because it is entretaining, the lenght of the manga is correct, and because of the ending. I didn't expected that ending, wich is always something nice. It fits with the story and it's not forced. If you're looking for a mystery light-read I would recommend you this manga, don't get your hopes TOO high and you'll enjoy it very much!

3.5/5

Yup, I did change my rating a lil bit...
I have a few things to say about this one, both good and meh

GOOD:
> the pace: I really liked this fast/edge of the seat feeling
> the mystery development/conclusion
> the finale (like literally the last two pages)

SPOILERS AHEAD

MEH
> the purpose of all this game (come on what was that?! It could have been literally anything!!)
> all the credibility got lost for me once it was revealed the way all this was done
> the cliche of corrupted people/system

Now, the MAIN finale completely turned my review.
At first I really l thought I loved it, BUT now I think I have to separate the overall finale and how the series ended. I have the problem with the main finale, the path the series took didn't convince me.
It was going so great. There are multiple reveals towards the end, the first one was GREAT, the second one was AWESOME, but then it was explained how these two are connected and it started to go downhill. Then there is the reveal of the main purpose of all this and that wasn't very great either.
We have a false finale that was meh where we of course have the people who are supposed to help allied with the baddie, and the two pages conclusion that were AWESOME.
So yeah, too many up n downs...

Rating: 3.5 stars (overall)

Summary (for the whole manga):
A group of people who play a game called "Rabbit Doubt" decides to gather and meet each other face-to-face for the first time. During their get-together, they are attacked/drugged. When they wake up, they find themselves in a different place and all are separated in different rooms. As they explore the place, they find that each of them has a barcode on their body that can be used as a key to open a door, yet the barcode can only be used for one room/door. They soon realise that the game that they often play is now a reality. In the game, everyone is a rabbit, yet there is a wolf who is disguised as a rabbit. Each round, they have to guess who the wolf is. If they lose, the wolf will eat all the rabbits. Now, they have to find who is the wolf/liar among them so that they can win the "game" and exit from the place.

Review:
I was interested with the plot of the manga, which resulted in my reading it. Even though at the end, the wolf justifies his/her reason for killing everyone else, it still doesn't make much sense to me. Then again, psychopaths are psychopaths. //shrug

This review is for the series as a whole. Short but definitely sweet. A friend recommended this to me way back when and I finally got around to reading it and I’m so glad I did.

Not an original concept by any means but very well executed. Good art style, great pacing. There is one thing I wished they would have tweaked just a little because it helped me guess who the wolf was pretty much right at the start but it’s such a minor thing and I’m sure not many people would notice. I did roll my eyes a little at the big reveal but everything said in the explanation is true and has been verified by multiple psychologists so I’m really just nitpicking at this point.

I absolutely loved the ending. It was super gutsy and I know it might disappoint a lot of people but I love when authors take risks like that.

To quote Mr. Smith - "Sweet Jesus.. Mother of God"

What did I just read - god damn that was a fun ending. Don't get me wrong - its fairly SAW-esque but the double twist makes it that much more enjoyable... The thing I really liked about this was the ephemeral yet oddly continuous state of the Wolf (the role vs the character) which to me is what has this series take just a tiny step above the movie franchise. Its that much more poetically beautiful - and for that - Yoshiki Tonogai takes the cake..

This was an utterly enjoyable read that starts slow but ramps up like a roller coaster - Highly recommended
