3.75 out of 5. Much more a love story between Cecil and her mates than the previous three books where Jaycee's love for her mates was abused and taken for granted. That happens here rarely and even though there are serious issues because of Cecil's long captivity, her men find ways of helping her through the recovery and long journey back to normalcy. There are evidences that even though Jaycee's mates still tend to treat her like a mental lightweight and growl everytime she has an original thought, there is evidence that they have worked out their own dynamic and Jaycee has much more come into her own. Her companionship and friendship for Cecil is noteworthy and she is finally acting like the Alpha-fem of the pack. Cecil's mates act far more caring and give her the support she needs that is significantly different than the way Jaycee's mates treated her for three books. I was encouraged that this writer wasn't on a consistent "treat the lady like dirt all in the name of love" kick. There is fun and friendship here that demonstrates the strong connections and good friendship between all these shifters. Perhaps all the men are learning to walk that fine balance between taking care of their mate in a caring and protective way without putting her down or making her feel less than good about herself. A very nice paranormal read.

I just didn't like this installment as much as the previous ones. There is very little action; lots and lots of cooking, though. I will likely keep reading the series because most of them have a weak book in them and maybe this was the one for 'Running In Fear'.

Cupid's Venom is the fourth book in the exciting Running in Fear series by Trinity Blacio, and it just keeps getting better. With all of the threats lately, everyone's on high alert, so when Remi and Tug hears something outside their BDSM club, the last thing they expected to find was a young woman who was unconscious from multiple injuries. Not knowing if she's a threat or not, they take her inside to get her medical attention, but Tug knows immediately that he just found his mate, or at least one of them.

Cecilia is sure that the monsters have found her again, but when she opens her eyes, she knows that she's finally safe. After her and her family were kidnapped, they were held at a clinic that was doing experiments on shifters, along with beatings, other forms of abuse, and even being killed. She had been told that all of her family was dead, except for her brother who had left for the military prior to them being taken. When she informs Remi and his pack mates about the clinics ran by someone from the council, he orders Tug and Rory to keep her safe, not knowing that Rory is another of their mates.

When Remi introduces Clayton to Cecilia, Tug, and Rory, they know that they've just found their other mate, even though he's part of the council that she's terrified of. Trying to find out more about the clinics, who's behind them, and how many more shifters are being brutalized there, Remi along with help from others are determined to put a stop to it. Can Cecilia's mates keep her safe? What happens when they try to mate since she's been infected with snake DNA? Will her mates be able to help her heal both mentally and physically after all she's been through? What will they do when they find out about her child? Can they rescue him from the evil that is his father, while making sure that the father doesn't get what he wants, which is her? You'll have to read this to find out!

This was another great addition to this exciting series, and I can't wait for the next one. If you haven't read the series, I suggest that you start from the beginning. You'll get to read fantastic stories, learn about each set of mates, and the dynamics that bring them all together. You won't be disappointed.

I would recommend this book, series, and great author.

There is some strong language and explicit sexual content, but if you are not offended by this and are looking for a story with a true plot and alpha type heroes then you may desire to read more of the running in fear series.

Cecelia has escaped her captors at last. After the torture and experiments she hopes to die from her wounds. She never expected to find her mate outside the BDSM club. Even more surprisingly she find she has a second mate and then a third. Can they protect her from those who seek to recapture her. Is she strong enough to stand up for herself with three dominating alpha type men or will she run. Can they accept her as she is now?

A short, fast moving story that shows that being submissive is not synonymous with being weak. You will find yourself wanting to know the characters better and enjoy visiting with characters you met in earlier books in the series. I do believe adding another few pages on how she escapes and also how they retrieve that which was stolen from her would have improved my enjoyment, but it was not crucial. My rating of Cupid's Venom is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This is book four in the Running in Fear series. I really liked this story! I am so glad that the author has moved on to new characters in this series. Jaycee and her mates have come a long way even though this story was not about Jaycee and her mates they still played a big part in the story line. The main heroine in this story is Cecilia. At the age of 16, her and her family was kidnapped, drugged, and abused in one way or another. Those with triggers should know that the author did not go into great detail but they do talk about it. After six years of beginning held captive Cecilia and a few others escaped. She found herself at one of Jaycee’s mates, Remi, and his friend Tug’s club. They take her into their care and just her luck she fines her mate… no, make that three mates! But will Cecilia be able to have three mates after being kidnapped and will her mate be able to handle what her captives had done to her? Guess you’ll have to read for yourself because it’s not what you think.

I'll say this don't expect not to read about Jaycee and her 3 mates in this one, Jaycee plays a big role with Cecilia and vice versa. Her family and Cecilia was kidnapped at 16 and held for 6 years by a council member' orders to make their 'super shifter'. She escaped and ran and she gotten as far as Remi and Tug Kink club. Everyone from the past 3 books is there, as a reference Jaycee is really popped out with her triplets. Cecilia is almost like Jaycee with their shared pained filled history, dealing with powers that is new, finding not just one but 3 mates, two - Tug and his friend Rory and a powerful council member Clayton. Her secrets will be revealed, a piece of her is out there finding a way back through his means, the evil snake man that wants her for breeding chasing her and on top of it all she can't mate with her men since she is half snake and had fangs with poisonous venom. What can a girl do....

overall enjoyed this book though the 1st half much more than the 2nd half. the characters were interested and you are quickly pulled into the story. the heroine at times acted a little childish (but then she was only 22 and had been held prisoner in a secret lab being experimented on since 16 so understandable to a point). as to the why I enjoyed the 1st half better is that the story moved along at a good pace and the plot was interesting but that was suddenly wrapped up as they defeated the bad guy in a figurative snap of the fingers off page which meant the tension that had been building instantly deflated like a souffle falling rather than with a bang. the conflict for the remainder of the book felt forced due to lack of communication and childishness (and not just from the primary heroine but from others as well) not once but repeated as a way to create unneeded conflicts btwn the primary characters and create a reason for "making up".

Cupid’s Venom by author Trinity Blacio is the fourth book in the Running in Fear series. I have not read the series in order, and I was not lost with this book. I super loved this one. There is great character connection and lots of feels for me to really sink into.
Cecelia has been captive for a long time. She has some PTSD form it. She never expected to find her mate. Let alone find more than one.
Tug, Rory, and a powerful council member named Clayton they are all alpha protective males. I liked that each is distinct and they have their own personalities. I also like they really are what Cecelia needs. They really give her freedom to be herself.
Over all great addition to what I have read, and great moving forward for this series. I would love to read more and see what happens next.

This is Book 4 in the Running in Fear Series. We meet Cecilia as she is running away from one of the labs that the “other” National Council is involved in. She has been in captivity for a while being experimented on and now she has some snake DNA. She meets her 3 mates and it’s an experience! There’s a lot going on and it’s all very hard for her to deal with. She’s a strong woman who learns how to handle her mates but it’s not easy. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to find out what else happens in the next book! I voluntarily chose to read a copy of this book that I received from Netgalley.

"Cupid's Venom" is a great addition to the 'Running in Fear' series. The story continues with great characters being added to enrich the story of the packs along with their trials and triumphs. Each book stands on its own with a new dimension added as we meet Cecilia. She in turn meets her mates in Clayton,Tug and Rory, a part of Remi's pack. The story takes off at a fast pace with the focus on Cecilia and her protection. Some explicit sexual content and strong language is sprinkled throughout, but the theme is all about the packs and their survival. I would like to thank NetGalley and Riverdale Ave. Books for gifting me "Cupid's Venom". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4 Stars!

Cecilia just escaped a prison where she was treated worst than cattle.
She lived in fear in that prison.
The she meets her mates.
They sworn to protect her + always keep her safe.
Tug, Rory + Clayton were total Alpha males.
They had very strong personality, but they treated Cecilia like a princess.
She didn't know, but she had them right at the palm of her hand.
They were sort of mush around Cecilia.

I was sucked into this book from the beginning, its such an emotional roller-coaster, humorous and heart breaking in places. Tug rescues Cecelia, after shes escaped from a facility specialising in experiments of the torture variety, the information she shares with the pack reveals a common enemy. Before long Cecelia finds out she has three mates who all suffer from the 'Alpha' syndrome, can she and Jaycee set them straight, and just what is the new enemy after?! Another beautiful narration by Michelle Jones, I can't wait to start the next book.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Another good book in this series. Cecilia has been held captive and experimented on for six years before her escape. She is stronger than she realizes and then meets her two mates, Rory and Tug and then a third mate comes into the picture. The story is well conceived but it has grammatical errors. It is a good book and I would recommend it.

It had more content with a heroine getting rescued and some of the bad guys getting pummeled. The smut was also not too overwhelming in comparison to the first three books in this series.

Great addition to this series. Cecilia has managed to escape captivity and is on the run and happens to find her three mates. Can her mates protect her from her previous captures? This is a quick read with lots of suspense with plenty of steam. I really liked it.
