Every bit as good as a Steinbeck piece. I didn't realize until I started reading that Harold Brent had been doing the Opinion for the Cape Cod Times since - forever. This book is a collection of his columns from over the years and presented as a thoughtful perspective on Fall, Winter and Spring in the small, backwater (but heavily vacationed) town of Wellfleet on the Outer Cape. It reminded me of the style, wit and charm of "Travels With Charley".

If you need something to help you through Winter I strongly recommend you savor this one, one chapter at a time, from the sadness of Summer's end to the promise of a bright and beautiful Spring. If you enjoy the sheer pleasure of carefully considered and well-written prose you'll receive warm gratification from this one.
