This was my first Harlequin ‘Blaze’ and for the most part it was what I’ve come to expect from cookie cutter, formulaic romances, however I enjoyed this because occasionally that’s exactly what you’re looking for. AFTERBURN is a charming, moderately steamy read that doesn’t require any real brain power yet still entertains, it’s downright funny in parts, touching and sexy with a mild amount of suspense thrown in to move the story along. As an added bonus you also get a hunky flyboy on the cover and sometimes folks that’s all it takes.

The night before Air Force Major Chase ‘Magnet’ Cardin shipped out to Iraq he met up with the usually reserved Sabrina McAllister in a Vegas bar. This pair has been flirting around the inevitable for years and tonight is to be their night. With Sabrina finally letting her hair down and Chase tossing back the tequila it doesn’t take long for Elvis to enter the building and in a moment of spontaneity they decide to ‘punk’ their friends by getting married in a mock ceremony before hitting the MGM Grand for a little piece of honeymoon heaven neither of them will forget.

Sabrina doesn’t usually date pilots after all her fathers a General but what the hell, its just one night and she deserves a little fun. And Chase, well when your call sign’s ‘babe’ magnet he doesn’t need any other encouragement. The beginning chapters here are super sexy and hilarious especially after Sabrina gets the marriage certificate in the mail and realizes the jokes on her, they’re really married.

A year later when Chase returns a reluctant war hero yet still clueless about being a husband, Sabrina’s got some serious explaining to do. In the mean time her new job as public affairs officer for the Thunderbird squadron means that not only are they married but they’re also working together which puts both their jobs on the line. The sexual tension reaches a fever here as they try to keep their hands off each other and file for an annulment. For some reason though when it comes right down to it Chase just won’t sign the papers. It seems he likes having Sabrina as his wife and he’s willing to fight to keep her.

Here’s a couple of lines that stood out; Cheers!
(While shopping for beds) The man embodied "king size" in every possible way.
And this declaration He was about to enter the fiercest battle of his life. The fight for his wife.

Positive points: two leads that I definitely liked. Both with daddy issues. The plot was interesting and achieve the goal to make both leads human and didn't paint the opponant as the bad guy but as someone who lost its way.

Negative point: the sexy parts were boring. That's kinda of problem since they are a big part of the Blaze collection.

Hence 2 stars.

Afterburn is the fifth instalment of the Uniformly Hot series and is the story about Chase Cardin, a pilot in the Air Force and Sabrina 'Rina' McAllister who works on the PR side of the Air Force. They have known each other for years and although they haven't seen each other for several years, Rina has always held a torch for Chase. It is when they bump into each other in a bar in Las Vegas and drunkenly decide to have an Elvis wedding that things get complicated. Add to that a parent of a dead soldier is set out to destroy Chase's heroic welcome back from combat, emotions run high and time is running out for decisions to be made.

This has many of the qualities that you expect from the Blaze series, there are some sexy and humorous moments with likeable characters. I did however find it slightly annoying that the dilemma between Chase and Rina was mentioned a lot and it felt repetitive and the momentum was not always free flowing. There was some action with regard to the angry parent who was out for vengeance which helped make this easier to read but so far I would say that this is the weakest of the stories from the series so far.

Part of a Blaze miniseries ("Uniformly Hot!") meant to pay tribute to our troops. So, both the hero (a fighter pilot) and the heroine (an Air Force PR officer) are Hot! but not so smart or sober when they think a joke Vegas Elvis wedding would be a hoot. Then the heroine discovers that their "fake" Vegas wedding actually real. So, going with the not so smart theme, she decides not to tell the hero until she can see him again in person. Too bad he's deployed to Iraq, it might be a while...but when he returns, now a Thunderbirds pilot (which is admittedly Big Stuff), they might really get in trouble with the military brass for not disclosing the marriage after so long. So, going further with the not so smart theme, she decides to get a quiet annulment instead. All this without telling him, you understand. Then the story actually really gets going. I liked this book, despite the not-so-smartness. I just wish, like _Flyboy_, it had stuff about actually flying fighter jets/ Thunderbirds because that's just really cool.

The Daredevil is a fun, flirty novel! Chase and Rina - or Sabrina to Chase - are two very honest, caring and enjoyable characters. The chemistry between them is near set the pages on fire! It's so steamy!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about them as the whole plot of the story and all characters involved were intriging, I couldn't help but read more.

I found myself wanting to devle in and read more about the feelings of these characters emotions and the hardship.

I loved the whole concept of Rina and Chase being married and the way Rina finally discovers who she really is plus that they find each other. The Daredevil is one very amazing read one which I won't forget . (at least not Chase anyway.)

I’m a fan of Kira Sinclair and I did enjoy this book but I gave it 3 stars because I did not like Rina. I’m all about being an independent women but the character Rina just kept pissing me off. She was just a flat out b*tch to Chase and he was always nothing but sweet to her.

I hate ready books when the female character is a b*tch through most off the book it just kills the story for me. If the male character is nothing but a sweet heart and all he gets in return is a smart mouth female then the book just irritates me. I can’t even stand to be around females like that and I really don’t want to read a book with a character with that kind of attitude. I was disappointed in Kira Sinclair in this book just because if the Rina character.

I liked this book. It had humor, a little suspense, self-discovery, well expressed emotions, and delimmas that can be very real. I liked the male lead character's fight within himself of being worthy of the medal he was given. I would definitely read this book again, as a passing the time book. Enjoy

OMG, I really loved this one! And yes, I helped with the Air Force stuff just a little bit so maybe I'm biased. But Kira knows how to write a really delicious hero and a heroine who keeps him on his toes!

This was one of the better Harlequinn books. I don't have a lot of choice on ebooks from my library, so I end up with a lot of cheesy romance novels. But this was a sexy read, better than most!

Resolution of the non-romantic conflict seemed anti-climactic, but I liked Chase & Rina's relationship evolution. The intimate moments were yowza hot.
