Outstanding read. I brought this book into the same lava caves to make use of the maps and it survived with only some surface dirt. 10/10 would cave with this book again

I have been to the Lava Beds National Monuments (South of Tulelake, California) many times over the years. However, I never had a book like this one to take with me. Now that I have bought it and skimmed through it, I have concluded that I will never go there again without this book. This book is fantastic. It has great drawings of the caves, even giving the height of the ceilings. I highly recommend this book.

Indispensable companion book for a visit to the Lava Beds National Monument. Begins with a simple history of the area and crash course in lava tube formation. Then follows detailed information on about 40 of the best caves with a legend and photos, a thorough map of the entire area, and glossary. Small enough to carry with you while spelunking.
