Every physical chemistry student knows that McQuarrie and Simon’s big fat red book is the bible of undergrad physical chemistry. However, what not many of them might know is how great of a study aid Cox’s solution manual is. All throughout the McQuarrie and Simon book, several key concepts are left to be “explored” in the end-of-chapter problems and while this might be a great study technique for some it is definitely not one for me. Thus, I find Cox’s detailed solution of all the problems to be of great help in even studying the chapters, let alone for the end-of-chapter problems.

As far as I’m concerned this book is the Bible. Everything under the sun is treated in detail. I especially like the way books moves through quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and finally thermodynamics. While reading this I deeply connected with how the microscopic gives way to the macroscopic. Highly recommend!
