Unforgettable Love #2

An Earl to Remember

Rate this book
Miss Georgianna Eleanor Heyford may be naught but a gentleman’s daughter, but even she’s heard the rumors about the Earl of Stannis’s exceptional charm and good looks. Surely she can cater his luxurious yacht party without getting swept away. But a terrible misunderstanding leaves Georgianna fired, furious, and with little recompense. Which is precisely when her opportunity for vengeance washes ashore…

Daniel Rutherford, the Earl of Stannis, has absolutely no memory of who he is. They tell him he must have fallen overboard, and the only person he seems to recognize is the lovely Georgianna—who strikes a chord of familiarity…and the faintest memory of heating his blood. Only now this inelegant, poorly dressed woman claims to be his wife!

But the truth is, Georgianna is finally getting her revenge. The dashing earl will work off the money he owes her and no one will be the wiser. Except the longer he stays with her and her younger sisters, the more it feels like he belongs there. And that perhaps he’d find a forever place in Georgianna’s heart… at least, until his memory returns...

I am an unapologetic romance lover. I read it. I write it. Enough said. Well..I also have a warrior way "Never give up on my dreams." I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese anime and playing video games with my love, Dusean.

I devoured this historical in 24 hours and I am so obsessed. This was everything I was in the mood for and, as a huge fan of the movie Overboard, this was such a fun take on the amnesia story. From the beginning, you know the hero is a rake who loves having fun with his mistress. When he meets the heroine, though, he's completely taken by her. I loved how the heroine was a chef and so passionate about her job. She's fired from her position, though, because his mistress was jealous of her and he wasn't able to tell the heroine what really happened. He's thrown overboard and washes up on shore in her town with amnesia. Before she knows it, she's claiming they're married. I loved the heroine's sisters and how well the hero fit into their lives, even though he had an inkling that he was far more wealthy than the life they led. Their connection was undeniable and I just swooned as they fell for each other. And the end!? I love a desperate hero willing to do anything to have the heroine. The audiobook was great and I would definitely recommend this class different, amnesia romance!

✨Overboard and under an Earl✨

It’s no secret that I absolutely love the amnesia trope, but An Earl to Remember easily stands out as the perfect Overboard histrom counterpart. It’s also true that Overboard is one of my favorite movies, so really I’m majorly biased…but good lord I loved this book so much.

It was delightfully hot and delightfully faithful to the original romcom film. The book perfectly captured my favorite parts of the movie, while seamlessly adapting them to a historical setting. Sometimes romances based on movie plots miss the tone or feeling of the original film, but An Earl to Remember exceeded all of my expectations. It was such an easy five stars.

I can see people being put off by Daniel in the beginning, but no actually he’s my darling angel baby and I won’t stand for that!! JK I understand, but I knew he was going to be put to WORK (like in the movie) so I didn’t mind. Also he’s hot. What can I say???

I’m so sorry, but by the end there he really said yes I’ll do the cooking, yes I’ll do the cleaning, yes I’ll do my WIFE in every room in the house!! The 😤my WIFE😤 energy absolutely ravished me. Good God. I lost my mind every time he opened his arms and she just ran into them. And he was so cute with her sisters! And they loved him so much :,)

Georgie all around was a lovely heroine, and I was rooting for her the entire book. Personally, I think she did the only logical thing by claiming him as her husband!! An enterprising woman!! Revenge is hot!! Also she was just such a good person, and her relationship with her sister’s was incredibly sweet.

She was also a hot chef!! The cooking content—specifically that big, sweet amnesiac man cooking for her—was such a lovely addition to the story!! I love reading about food in books and have already added this to my histroms x cooking list. Definitely be prepared to overestimate your cooking abilities after reading this book, because you’ll be HUNGRY.

I momentarily forgot this was book two in a series, but then we saw Stanick and Mina and I promptly lost all of my senses. A Matter of Temptation was a top book of 2022 and An Earl to Remember is easily a top book of 2023. I can’t wait to see what the series has in store next, because the teasers have TEASED. Consider me properly feral.

Every time I read a book by Stacy Reid, I’m reminded why she’s one of my favorite authors. Her books just *get me* in a way not many others do. I love her pacing and problem solving within the plots; she’s not afraid to choose the softest path or the most chaotic one. (Both were chosen here.)

Reading this book after a handful of contemporary romances was actually the best decision I’ve ever made. I was reading great books don’t get me wrong, but historical romance—specifically historical romance written by Stacy Reid—is always going to hit different. This book is everything I look for in a historical romance novel and more. So much more. It was funny, charming, and incredibly endearing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️*/5

*WHOO. Okay Stacy definitely upped the spice level from book one! This was HOT. I will say the Chekhov’s 69 threw me for a loop?? Give the people (me) what they want! But everything else was perfection.

Thanks so much to the publisher for an eARC via NetGalley. All opinions are honest and my own.

This is between a 3.5 and 4 for me.

In classic Stacy Reid style, this is a very unique story, even with the similarities to Overboard.

Georgie is trying to raise her three sisters in their falling down manor after the death of her parents and also trying to get paid and live her dreams as a chef. She's hired to cook on Lord Stannis's ship, and after a heated look shared across the room, their chemistry leads the Earl to believe she is meant to join his party with multiple women that night.

A jealous mistress demands he fire Georgie when she sees how he looks at her, and therefore, Georgie must leave the ship with no pay. The Earl and his mistress argue, she pushes him overboard, he gets amnesia, and winds up in Georgie's town where she quickly lays claim to him as her husband to preserve her reputation.

Bonkers. And also delightful.

By far the best part about the whole book was watching who the Earl became at Georgie's home. The way he wanted to give her the entire world but felt restrained by his believed lack of finances was BEAUTIFUL. Watching this fancy Earl do hard manual labor and do it happily for his wife was enough to melt me.

Daniel was pretty unlikable in the beginning, a Rake in every sense of the word, and...it was pretty distasteful, but I was ready for the character development that could bring.

I think the main reason this is a 4 instead of a five is for how much of their relationship was based purely off their physical chemistry, and that final moment right before the end which had me doubting if Daniel had grown as a character at all.

This one definitely requires some suspension of disbelief but I was happy to do it as I find Stacy's books to just be such a good time.

Not as good as the first in the series but a book I'd still recommend.

I received an ARC for review

This is an entertaining, well-written, fast paced, steamy, historical romance novel. It has a likable, bold, creative and strong female protagonist, a kind and caring male protagonist, sizzling chemistry, wit, a touch of humor, engaging banter, a memorable celebratory dinner, and a happily ever after ending. This is the second entry in Ms. Reid's Unforgettable Love series and can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone. The glimpses of the characters and an event from the first entry have piqued my interest in reading this story. Many thanks to Entangled Publishing, Ms. Stacy Reid, and NetGalley, from whom I received an ARC of this wonderful novel.

This is Overboard but historical romance!!

The heroine is a newly hired chef on an earl's yacht, but she gets unjustly fired by his mistress. She goes back home, only to find out that somehow, the earl was thrown overboard and shows up in her town with amnesia and no idea who he is. So what does she do? Pretends to be his wife.

An Earl to Remember was a total delight to read! It's got a bonkers plot, but I fell in love with the characters and their romance. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something fun and sweet and entertaining.

This was unfortunately not great, so 2,5 stars rounded up.

Georgianna and Daniel met briefly on his yacht party and he didn’t make a great first impression.
When he appeared out of nowhere in her village with no memory of who he was but publicly claiming to know her “carnally”, she had no choice than to say that he was her husband.

It was all very unfortunate because Georgie really deserved better than that conceited shit of an earl.

I guess the guy from the first book was too perfect so this one had to be a dick to balance things out🤷‍♀️. I don’t need a hero to be a virgin but he was busy with his mistress for way too far into the book. What’s worse we had to even witness their kisses 🤢

Besides, the fact that he hadn’t considered marrying Georgie for most of the book even though they clearly had a connection was very annoying. He was willing to force someone to marry Georgie’s sister to save her reputation after they’d kissed, but Georgie was still only worthy of being his new mistress. Huh?

It was still a quick, light and pleasant enough read, but both the story and the hero were a lot better in the previous book.

Thank you Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a sweet re-imagining of Overboard, done in some swoony Stacy Reid style.

After an Earl who was cruel to Georgie falls off a yacht and washes up on the shore not far from her home. And starts spouting an inconvenient truth of remembering seeing her in his bed... Georgie has to think fast to save her and her sisters from ruin. So... she claims him as her husband. And luckily he can't remember any differently.

What follows is Daniel working on her family home and farm to make ends meet.. completely making her fall in love when she knows she has no claim on him.

This one was always going to have to be messy before it got better but I think Stacy Reid pulls it off quite well. Daniel starts off as so unlikable but he wins over, not only Georgie, but all of her sisters as well.

He also has quite the naughty mouth when he finally takes his "wife" to bed. I just wish we had more of them falling in love.

I enjoyed cameos from Simon and his lady and I look forward to more Unforgettable Love soon!

Miss Georgianna Heyford is hired to cater a luxurious yacht party for Daniel Rutherford, the rakish Earl of Stannis. But a surprise encounter leaves Georgianna fired and furious...and Daniel overboard and without his memory! A sudden, foolish plan gives Georgianna the means to get revenge, but the longer Daniel stays with her and her younger sisters, the more it feels like he belongs.

This is the second book in the Unforgettable Love series. It stands alone, but the couple from the previous book makes a small appearance.

This book is a fun and sexy twist on the 1987 RomCom movie, Overboard, in which a snobby heiress (Goldie Hawn) falls off her yacht, suffers amnesia, and is taken in by a contractor (Kurt Russell) who she maliciously fired. In Reid’s version, it’s an Earl who fires the caterer of his yacht party when his mistress gets jealous of his attraction. After his yacht-fall, Daniel doesn’t remember much, but he DOES declare he knows Georgianna’s curvy body! 😮 To protect her reputation from town gossips, she declares he’s her husband!

I enjoyed this book so much and read it in two days. It was the perfect balance of hat-tip to the movie inspiration and an original plot. The pacing was great, and I liked that the reveal came sooner than I expected so that the couple had time to deal with their emotions and the fallout. Plus, great sex and ornery animals always make a story better!

Tropes: Class Difference, Working Heroine, Amnesia, Compromised/Ruined, Revenge, Forced Proximity

Steam: 3 (three full scenes, but felt a lot steamier)

* I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I love Stacy Reid’s writing and always become easily immersed in her stories. This had an interesting premise similar to the movie Overboard, which I loved. I also really liked the sisterly bonds and relationships. Georgianna is so devoted to her sisters, and their relationship is wonderful. And as much as I like some parts of the romance, there were several aspects I couldn’t get behind.

Daniel is a great example of how some people leave terrible first impressions. He’s a scandalous rake with a reputation, especially in his romantic affairs, and this is highlighted at the start of the book when Georgiana first meets him. He is not the type of man who is ever short of company, and he seems to pride himself on it. These initial scenes present him in such a negative light. I didn’t like his character and wasn’t sure my opinion of him would change. And the way he talks about Georgianna when he first learns they are married is so degrading and insulting. How can she fall for a man who thinks her plain and “obviously below me in every regard?” His treatment of women in general left a bad taste in my mouth.

I did like some of Georgianna and Daniel’s more tender moments. Their relationship is angsty and sweet and passionate, and while he is struggling to remember who he is, it seems like they are falling in love. However, their entire relationship is built on lies, disdain, and revenge. As Daniel adjusts to his new surroundings and becomes a part of Georgianna’s family, he definitely endears himself more to the reader, especially as he starts to embrace his life with her and her sisters and their motley crew of animals. There were several really comical scenes that I adored. Daniel shows a softer, more kind and loving side of himself that we didn’t see prior to his amnesia. He shows so much growth and becomes a better man. But as soon as he regains his memory, Daniel turns into an unlikeable and cold man again, and he does something to Georgianna that was so wrong. Even though she deceived him, the fact that he got revenge on her by further ruining her reputation, which he already slandered (hence her lie about being married), really bothered me.

Daniel did redeem himself a bit, but it took some time, and I didn’t like that he toyed with Georgianna’s feelings so much. I just couldn’t get behind their relationship even with his gallant and romantic proclamations. Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

An Earl to Remember is the newest release from Stacy Reid and was described as Overboard with a fun Victorian twist. So I was ready to jump into this amnesia, historical romance romp!

But sadly this just didn’t work for me. I had a very hard time with the hero and was never rooting for him. He’s a rake to the extreme and we see him with his mistress and getting ready to jump into a threesome when the story starts, even accidentally mistaking the heroine for one of the participants and making moves on her. She’s on board his yacht as the hired chef, but ends up fired when his mistress isn’t a fan of how much he’s into her. Later he gets into a fight with his mistress who accidentally sends him overboard with a shove. He washes up in the heroine’s village with no memories or knowledge of who he is and she says they’re married (to save herself from a compromising situation). I just never felt like the romance was based off much and didn’t see what either saw in one another besides lust. The story moves quickly but I never felt pulled to the characters.

The heroine’s relationship with her sisters, who she has taken care of was sweet and the cover is stunning. But other than that, this left me wanting so much more from the story and the romance. Which was a surprise because I’ve read and loved so many books from this author in the past. I’ve read other amnesia historical romances that worked for me so much better. I will of course continue to read this author!

Thanks so much to the publisher, Entangled, for an ARC via NetGalley. All thoughts in this review are my own. An Earl to Remember has a release date of August 22, 2023.

Guess I’m in the minority. I like Stacy Reid’s books. They do tend to skew toward the physical/sensual side, but sometimes as in this case the story crossed my line in the sand where lust overwhelmed love.

I mean, Daniel’s first stirring of love for Georgie was expressed this way: …yet his cock throbbed in a way that felt…new. And it didn’t get more romantic than that for a verrrry looonng time.

While I was eager to read this variation of “Overboard,” I was a bit disappointed. Again, I understand this story was an opportunity to add steamy scenes to the plot, but I expected more of a romcom like the 1987 and 2018 films.

Stacy Reid is fantastic as always, and this Overboard inspired plot is absolutely devine. I devoured this book with a happy little smile on my face all the way through.

5 glowing stars! And possibly my favorite release so far of 2023.

What do you get when you combine an asshole rake of an Earl who puts work before pleasure;
A down on her money caterer who dreams of making the most elaborate worldly meals;
A demanding mistress who wants a huge boat party.
A big money paying catering job on a boat which will make said caterers career;
The Earl thinking the caterer is one of the women he’s gonna get it on with, so getting almost ravished in his room;
The mistress walking in on that scene, bringing the actual women with her;
The caterer getting fired the morning after with only a measly amount of pay, because the mistress threw up due to probably an allergic reaction of some sorts;
The caterer demanding more money and surprising the earl that the beautiful woman he kissed last night was in fact said caterer;
The mistress knocking the Earl out which causes him to fall overboard and wash ashore at a quiet small town without any memories of who he is and what happened.;
The caterer living in said quiet small town and finding the earl at the doctor’s office (who is also her cousin, hence, small town);
The earl remembering her face and yelling out he had her in her bed in front of the town’s biggest gossip mongers?
The caterer thinking she now has to pretend to be married to the asshole earl.

A perfect chance for revenge is what you get, and oh how wonderful it is.
(Even the Earl is impressed when finally regains his memory)

The side missions: retrieve eggs from Hetty the chicken and get milk from Nelly the cow.
Earl vs. Hetty the chicken: retrieve eggs, get chased around the property by a chicken while your ‘wife’s’ little sister is running along giving tips for getting away from Hetty.
Earl vs. Nelly the cow: get help from ‘wife’s’ other little sister. Mission complete.

Stacy Reid is embracing the cooky and I hope she forever remains doing this.
I never thought I would love a book that has an amnesia trope, but this might end up being my favorite histrom release of 2023.
I adored Daniel and Georgie so much. Georgie has so many dreams but due to money problems they aren’t yet available to reach, but she does everything to make sure her sisters are okay and they can keep living in the house they were born in. Daniel is the quintessential bored asshole of a rake, who is devoted to his nana first, then his work, and then, to keep him entertained, the mistress who he’s had for over a year. Unfortunately his nana wants to see him married and get her some great grandchildren.

Georgie is a mastermind and thought: I didn’t get my wages.. but I have the earl now and he is a man and I will MAKE HIM WORK AND GET REVENGE!
Meanwhile Daniel still acts like a spoiled asshole. Glad to know some things didn’t change with his loss of memory. The dude is certain he is used to getting pampered and is very confused why the hell he would willingly marry Georgie. Of course she is very beautiful, but he is certain he has never ever been in love. A spoiled but honorable asshole he is.
He goes to work without complaining and even ends up with blistering and bleeding hands, but he keeps doing it. All while wondering why Georgie and her family don’t have the money for the upkeep and worried for her and her sisters. They shouldn’t have to sell all their books or have no staff to manage the household.

At this point the book is not even at the halfway mark. So much happens but it doesn’t feel like it’s too much. I loved the pacing, there’s not a moment in this book where I got bored (I mean… come on now, it’s so bonkers).

The last 35% of the book is amazing. Again, a lot happens but it never feels too much. I was kept at the edge of my seat wondering about how this love story was going to play out. How were Georgie and Daniel going to get their happily ever after?
I don’t want to say too much about this except the scene where they sit at the door. Daniel in his bedroom and Georgie in hers, the door only open a tiny bit, just enough to share a bottle of brandy, while having a such a great conversation.

‘I have not thought beyond knowing I want you more than I have ever wanted anything or anyone. That is a simple truth, Miss Heyford.’

‘I want to run… so far away from you, my lord, but I also want to run into your arms’

I have so many feelings about this and it took me a while to gather all my thoughts about it and honestly, I still am. Go read this one as soon as it comes out because it’s that good.

Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for providing an ARC.

OVERBOARD RETELLING, I repeat, OVERBOARD RETELLING!

This was brilliant. I've had so much fun, so many feelings while reading. I was kicking my legs, silently screaming, staring into the void, and melting.

Daniel was such a rake, he gave her a hand necklace at 9%. Shame his mistress interrupted them and then made him fire her. He will pay though.

Georgianna made sure he would pay what he owed her. Also for blabbing, that he had her in his bed but didn't remember her because of his amnesia.

He always called her his wife even though they were never married and he had his memory back. My heart.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for an e-arc of this wonderful book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.

pros:

where do i even start? okay i know:

Name: Daniel Rutherford
Title: Earl of Stannis
Occupation: Running away from cantankerous chicken, throwing baleful looks at cows, running after carriages with one shoe with a determined dog at his heels chewing the other

• what a delightful man, oh my god. this was my first time reading the amnesia trope in a historical romance novel and I was pleasantly surprised. The romance between daniel and gerorgianna was perfect. this was swoony, emotional, angsty and just brought out a LOT in me. i was constantly agitated but in a good way¿

• i loved how he kept calling her "wife" even after he found out they weren't rlly married.

• the writing, of course, was phenomenal. i love how stacy reid's writing flows and the way she chooses to tell a story. there are so many hilarious and swoon worthy moments in this book. i feel so blessed to have read this early. i will say a matter of temptation is always going to be my favourite.

• it felt extremely realistic for gerorgianna to fall in love with him for the reasons she did. i loved seeing her be able to lean on someone else while she was struggling.

• the love confession at the end was EVERYTHING

• the sisters are so cute and i love how he bonded with them. they were so wholesome. overall, this was such a fun, swoony, entertaining and emotional read for me. i may have teared up at the love confession in the end. i have not had a single disappointment by stacy reid so far and I am beyond elated.

cons:
• There are parts where I found it hard to suspend my disbelief like how he's not allowed to do a lot of strenuous work because of his head injury but he literally helps with chores that are very taxing.

• i wasn't able to get as invested in these characters as I was in A Matter of Temptation

• i wasn't a huge fan of the repetetive smut but that's a me thing

tropes:

💛 rake hero
💛 amnesia trope
💛 fake marriage
💛 angry chicken and cows
💛 emotional but spicy
💛 financially struggling heroine
💛 chef heroine

This was charming - I think there's always something fun about the amnesia/overboard storyline, it's so inherently ridiculous, which does also mean the character work has to be solid. There was still a bit too much telling rather than showing, but I'm very intrigued by this series now.

“You make me burn to live life, wife.”

That’s it! Hands down, Stacy Reid is my new FAVORITE HR author. For me, she’s right up there with Ms. Bev, Lisa Kleypas and Kerrigan Byrne. I will read anything this woman puts out!! Her heroes have the sauce—nod if you know what I’m saying! The right amount of dirty talk, cockiness and can we talk about those “base” instincts in bed. Let’s talk about “tucking” shall we? 🥵

If you loved the 80’s Overboard featuring Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell except flipped then you will LOVE this!! I have laughed so much while reading along with squirming in my seat at the same time.

If Stacy is cooking it then trust me, I’m gonna eat it. Bring on the sauce!!

I’m so excited for the Marquess of Moncrieff’s book next.

If you are a historical romance lover and you have not picked up Stacy Reid yet, what are you doing with your life? Reid is definitely a top tier historical romance author and a definite must read. Her most recent contribution to the genre is An Earl to Remember and it is absolutely everything I would hope for and expect from her! This novel takes the amnesia trope using inspiration from the movie Overboard to give us a perfect historical mash up! Reid's writing is engaging, clear, sexy and romantic. Reid knows how to quickly and easily draw her readers in, she is smart about the crafting of her characters and gives them all the delicious layers needed to make them interesting and complicated, she weaves her plots with the building of a deep and true romance at its center. Absolutely do yourself a favor and pick up this (or another of her novels) today!

I love an amnesia trope and this novel does a wonderful job of using this as a jumping off point for the hero and heroine to true be striped down to their base layers and get to know each other on a deeper level. This is a class difference romance, in which our heroine Georgianna is an independent and hard worker, she has dreams and goals but she also sees the reality of the situation she and her family are in. She uses her cooking skills to help gain finances to keep her family afloat. Daniel, the hero, is an earl who is full of charm and good looks but after a misunderstanding leaves Georgianna fired and without pay. When Daniel is pushed overboard his yacht by his mistress he finds himself without memory and washed up on Georgianna's hometown shores. He does remember a sensual interaction with Georgiana which makes her claim that he is her husband. The humor that Reid weaves into this story is perfectly balanced by the building chemistry and understanding between these two creating a foundation for their romance to withstand some misunderstandings and secrets.

The true joy of this novel is watching Daniel learn and grow when he is without his title. He is able to see who people truly are with out biases. He learns to work hard, find respect for others, and open himself to people he would over look. I really enjoyed watching this family grow before Daniel's eyes. I loved watching he realize what matters most. I think that Reid beautifully shows the readers how the every day, how working together, and how learning to trust can build a strong and dedicated romance. Reid also knows how to build tension and sensuality to perfection and show that the physical intimacy between a couple is a beautiful moment of trust that only deepens their feelings.

I so highly recommend An Earl to Remember and Stacy Reid! I can't wait to see what she gifts to us next!

I loved this version of Overboard. It's very similar (even when Daniel speaks French), but much more spicy.

I found the first book in this series super boring, but after reading the reviews that mentioned the film, I gave this one a chance because, even though it's a bit silly, the film makes me laugh a lot. I'm glad I did it!

The overboard story was fun; in the beginning, the pace was a little slow, especially with the introduction of the FMC, but okay. The humor, the dirty talk, the relationship between the MCs, Stannis' romantic gestures... I really enjoyed it.

Probably the next book I'll read by this author will be a 2, but the one after will be exceptional 😂

2.5 stars

My God, Daniel Rutherford, Earl of Stannis, made it SO DIFFICULT for me to LIKE him! He dragged my stars rating down with him

Usually when the main male character is described as rogue, he still has an admirable traits to admire. But here, with his tales of debauchery - and later on, I couldn't help to think that it was a form of an assault of its own. And I didn't think Daniel was respectful towards women.

As much as I kind of like Georgianna, and I wanted her to have all of the success in the world with her cooking ability, I wish she lands a different husband.

Even Georgianna Heyford, daughter of a country gentleman, has heard of the exploits of the rakish Earl of Stannis. Nonetheless, she sees no reason why she can’t cater his exclusive yacht party without falling under his spell. However, an unfortunate misunderstanding sees her sacked, infuriated, and underpaid. Yet, upon returning home, the perfect chance of revenge washes ashore in the village.

Daniel Rutherford, the Earl of Stannis, has lost all memory of who he is. Only Georgianna seems to recognize him, and he thinks she might be familiar, but there’s no way she could possibly be his wife as he claims.

In truth, Georgianna is taking this opportunity to use the earl to do some of the work she’s now unable to hire someone to perform, thanks to having her wages cut short. This will be a temporary arrangement, and no one ever needs to know the truth. But the longer the earl remains with Georgianna and her sisters, the more it feels like he’s meant to stay with them, leaving Georgianna ripe for heartbreak when his memory returns.

I want to start by saying that I love this author and she’s responsible for some of my favorite reads. Unfortunately, this story was not one of them and you chance spoilers from here as I get my thoughts out. Right from the start, I was very much not a fan of the hero’s mistress having such a prominent role. Then his meet cute with the heroine is him mistaking her for a prostitute. I was very much not a fan, and this certainly did not cast him in a good light. Not to mention the fact that his mistook her for one of three women who he’d planned to have join him in bed that night. I also wasn’t crazy about the extreme level of Georgianna’s innocence nor the ease with which he completely overwhelmed her. And yet, we’re clearly meant to see Daniel as redeemed and noble because he cares about those who work in the factories he owns. Even with the mistress being portrayed as a shrew, I was still not a fan of her continuing to have so much page time at the beginning of the book and I continued to struggle to find anything to like about Daniel. Even knowing how wrong his mistress was, he went ahead with firing Georgie, though he did attempt a fix later on, and this was basically indicative of his nature throughout the whole book.

This struggle persisted through pretty much the entire book as he referred to Georgianna as plain and obviously below him in every regard, and just generally behaved at the height of pomposity and arrogance. For me, there was no coming back from that. I adored the hero from the first book in this series and Daniel pales mightily by comparison. I understand why Georgie lied and declared an amnesiac Daniel to be her husband; he left her little choice, but why just keep piling all the other lies on? He did grow a modicum of charm while he was with Georgie and her sisters living a simple life, but that was quick to go out the window when he regained his memory. I get that he was just in denial and trying to protect himself from frightening and unwanted feelings, but that didn’t make it any easier to stomach.

Even when we’re told that he’s lending support to a bill that would give women more property rights in the next breath he’s telling someone that he supports that bill simply because he’s trying to support his friend, not because it’s something that he believes in. And of course, he thinks love is whimsical and imaginary. This could’ve still been super cute despite all these issues, right up until Daniel suggested that Georgie could essentially just become his mistress and they be fake married, but only in her small town. Even later he still contemplates marriage to another and refuses to shut down his mother’s and grandmother’s machinations. As if he weren’t already bad enough, we’ve also got to add in some other woman (not even the mistress, another other woman) drama, with an attempted compromise scene. I just thought this was unnecessary and there was way too much packed in here.

After how drawn out this was and how all over the place the plot was, the ending felt very rushed and lacking, not that I was ever likely to feel satisfied by this story. All in all, I’ll definitely continue to read this author, but this story was a total dud for me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

This was absolutely delightful! And I have never used that word to describe a book I’ve read but it’s the only one that fits. I loved everything about this story.

Daniel was a bit of a bounder and his initial reactions to an accusation against the heroine had me fuming along with Georgianna. So yeah, bring on the revenge!!! And that’s when a side I never expected to see began to emerge and Daniel was the sweetest thing. I adored his relationship with Georgianna’s siblings. I also liked his willingness to jump in where needed. I don’t believe this side of him would have been apparent without the storyline as it was.

Georgianna was a strong, independent heroine. But then again, she really didn’t have a choice. However, her dedication to her profession as well as taking care of her family had me cheering her on.

Together, this couple were just too much fun. I loved every moment of this story and it ended way too soon. This was a fast paced read that never bogged down and was relatively low angst throughout. The drama is low, the laughs abundant and the steam sizzling.

This book was all heart and hilarity. If you have ever seen the 1987 movie, Overboard, you have the plot, but set in Regency England, and gender reversal. It was a very fun read I Loved it!

5 Extreme romance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What soothing time travel sorcery, was on these pages! I was taken to a different realm with this book, while my laundry was piling up in this.

Stacy Reid can write some of the best historical romance in present day, and still make me feel, I am right there smack in the middle of London 150 years ago.

Georgianna is left to take care of her 3 younger siblings, money are short, she doesn’t whine, but does what it takes to provide. She does so without hesitation or airs and she is a fantastic h.
She takes a catering job on Daniel’s yacht, where his mistress dismisses her, unfairly. She is not paid what she is due and goes to Daniel to complain. It’s sizzling! Anyway she is sent away, and but somehow she still got to him.
Daniel breaks up with the mistress who returns the favor by knocking him overboard.

Suddenly Georgianna is thrown into his path again and he has memory loss from the fall. He does however remember her, or her energy. In front of the town he proclaims they are lovers and she quickly says they are married, so they won’t be outcasts. There was a motive to retrieve her money but mostly her honor.

They spend 3 weeks together, more or less as a family with her young siblings and the love that grows between all of them is so sweet, gentle and made my hands tingle. We all know that shit is going to hit the fan once his memory is back. They are all lying to him. But Daniel’s growth is 🙌

Listen this hit the spot for me❤️ I was with them and felt their drama all the way.

Should you read it? YES, it had such s good, sweet vibe of bad man and innocent girl, and he is going to break her heart!❤️ if you are into that, go go go.

Ps. I WAS NEVER BORED, not once. Miracles can happen.
