This book is a far more entertaining read than I thought it would be. This is quite possibly one of the best Idiot's guides I have come across. I may just have to buy it to put on my reference shelf.

Great, it's a very comprehensive guide to the undead and their history in popular culture. One of the best things is that it details both "voodoo" zombies and "plague" zombies and how one developed into the other. It's only slightly outdated, which is obvious through the lack of mentions of more recent popular zombie creations such as The Walking Dead, which premiered the same year the book was published.

Slightly out of date, The Walking Dead franchise isn't mentioned. The section discussing the origins of the zombie concept was interesting, and there were a few other noteworthy entries. But overall I didn't enjoy the book as much as I thought I might.
Did I like it? It was ok.
Would I reread it? No.
Would I recommend it? Maybe.

This book, with the tagline, "everything you need to know about the latest monster craze" was probably an awesome thing when it came out in 2010. If you don't know anything about zombies, maybe it still is. I liked it for what it was, even though I consider myself a zombie enthusiast.

If you want the real deal now, I HIGHLY encourage you to read Matt Mogk's awesome book Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Zombies. I consider it the best book available for collected zombie knowledge.

This is actually a really entertaining book about the history and evolution of the zombie. It has some really interesting philosophical elements to it, and is, for the most part, not what you would expect from a book with this title.

Not bad, quite enjoyed reading about the origin of zombies and the different cultural versions that appear in folklore. More than half the book dealt with zombies in various forms of media, which got boring after a while. I ended up skimming a fair amount of the film/book summaries.
