I love this concept: telling a story around the paintings of great artists - great introduction for small children that will encourage further reading on artistic styles. I really wish there had been books like this when I was growing up; I think it is a fun and innovative way to introduce children to art.

This is one book in a series that introduces children to the great art masters. It shows a few pieces (around 10) from the artist and pairs it with rhyming phrases. These books were fun to read and, obviously, great to look at. They come in board book form and are on the smaller side so they are great for little hands, but even my older children loved looking through them.

One semi-negative comment I have is that some of the phrases that accompany each painting tell the reader too much which doesn't let the reader come up with their own meaning and interpretation of the painting. This doesn't happen with each painting or in every book. Some of the phrases are more ambiguous. I guess the easy remedy for this would be to not read the text to your child and just ask questions and have discussions about each picture.

Overall, this is a great series and I highly recommend them.

Nice introduction to Renoir's art. The text was sometimes a stretch as most of the pictures don't really have to don with sharing, but it works nonetheless (and babies aren't going to be very harsh critics anyway). My 2-month-old enjoyed looking at the pictures.

Bought this after going on a family outing to the art museum. Great way to introduce Renoir to children. Delight for me, as Rwnoir is one of my favorites.

Sharing with Renoir is a title in a board book series focusing on paintings of famous individual artists and weaving the paintings into a story appropriate for very young children.
The paintings and storyline in this title weave into a story about a fun activity a child and another child or adult are doing together.
The bibliography is a list of the painting title with detail of which art museum owns the painting.

I didn't like this one as much as Dancing with Degas, partially because I like Renoir's art less, but partially also because the story falls apart about halfway through. The book is ostensibly about sharing, but only the first half has really anything to do with sharing. The rest is just basically description of the painting. Which is fine, but it becomes "A Book of Renoir's Paintings with Some Neat Curvy Rhyming Text" instead of "Sharing with Renoir," and that's just not as catchy a title.

Don't judge that I thought that much about a children's board book. A book is a book. It deserves thought.

Can't fault the art, it's a great way to introduce kids to Renoir.

And the text... well, I can take it or leave it. It sounds trite to my ears, though, so I prefer to leave it. The author's got a tin ear when it comes to rhythm, nothing seems to scan right.

The really bad part about these books is that they're cheaply made. I've had them fall apart on me while other books that we've had longer and that we read more often are in great shape.

You can't have a poor-quality board book, it just doesn't work. I can't in good conscience recommend these books until that little problem is fixed.

Rhyming story told as a journey through the famous paintings of Renoir in a board book. The rhythm would be good for reading to young children; although, some rhymes seem forced, they are connected to the works of art in a way that helps kids see what each piece is about.

My 18 month old threw a fit when I tried to read this to him. The art was beautiful though.
