Breaking Challenges
Because this is not my preferred genre, I was surprised that I couldn't put it down. I read it from front to back in one sitting.
The setting is current and the story contemporary. Without inserting spoilers to better explain, reading it is like gossiping at the back fence with your neighbor. Your feet are hurting from standing too long and your eyes are watery and burning because you forgot your sunglasses but you don't feel anything until after you hear the whole juicy, mouth-gaping, mind-blowing story.
On the downside, it is too explicit for my taste. However, contrary to many sexually explicit stories I have read, you can take all the 'bedroom scenes' out of this book and still have a good story.
As "crazy" as the characters in this story seem, it could happen to any "normal" family with twins...or even non-twin siblings.
I have read several books by Ann Omasta and this one is another example of her excellent ability to tell a captivating story.

I already have the first book of this series but haven't found the time to read it yet so when Ann let us know that Breaking Challenges can be read as stand alone, I was happy to start reading.
Tyler and Tristan are twins and when Tyler meets Lexi at the beach his brother Tristan steals the girl. Tyler is sick of always losing to his brother but Tristan is the charming one who always gets what he wants. Tristan and Lexi are spending the summer together while Tyler has to tag along with Lexi's younger sister Sara, not realizing that her crush on him is for real since he thinks she's too young for him. Ty can't give up on Lexi still and his chance will come. Without spoiling it's safe to say that the life of both twins don't go as planned and I didn't like Dirk very much. He's close to age to the twins but he's their bastard uncle. When the twins grandfather and Dirk's father plans a morbid plot to bring the family back together, the lives of Ty, Tristan and Dirk will change for the better and the way for a new generation of Davies is set. Great read.

Breaking Challenges: The Next Generation of the Davis Twins Series by Ann Omasta is a stand alone romance book. I have not read the other books in the Davis Twins Series and thoroughly enjoyed this book. Tristan and Tyler are identical twins who are different areas night and day. One the golden twin and the other look over and dismissed. They both fall in love for Lexi and Lexi chooses Tristan but keeps Tyler as her confidant and friend. The book has twists and turns and is an enjoyable read about identical twins. I received a free copy of this book and have voluntarily choose to review it.

Tristan and Tyler are identical twins and are like their uncles. Tyler is the nice guy and as a thing for Lexi and he realizes that Tristan is the golden one with the personality that draw people in and things come easily for him. Lexi is drawn to Tristan and even though he knows that Tyler likes her he’s selfishly goes after her. This upsets Tyler but Lexi treats him as a confident instead. Dirk is the black sheep according to him because he’s not a favored twin. The book has ups and downs as these three try to find their way in life and their place in the family. The twists and turns keeps them going.

Love’s as wonderful the second time around.
The second book in the series, you can read it first with no problem. Second generation twins, Tristan and Tyler, may be identical in looks, but it definitely ends there. Falling in love with the same girl when young does not help their relationship even though she keeps the other as her confidant and close friend. There are so many twists and turns, ups and downs, and “how did that happen?” moments you won’t be able to put this book down. As always with Ms. Omasta’s books, this one is beautifully written with an unusual story and great characters. Definitely a must read!

This was an incredible read from start to finish...
This is a book you won't want to put down, you'll be hooked from the start, I enjoyed reading it. The only time I put it down was to take care of a drink.

This was an excellent, well-written story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Tristan and Tyler may be twins, but they have totally different characters; even from an early age Tristan was the golden child, while Tyler was his inferior identical twin brother. Then they both fall in love with Lexi! I found this to be quite a deeply emotional read and felt very sympathetic to Tyler’s dilemma. Nevertheless, someone is waiting in the shadows to show Tyler how much he is truly loved, if he can just open his eyes and focus. There are some other peripheral twists and turns to the story that gives it added depth and character. This is certainly a book I would have no hesitation in recommending.
People were naturally drawn to Tristan from the instant they meet him, but they didn’t have that same magnetic reaction to Tyler. Once Tristan knew Tyler was interested in Lexi, the challenge was on. Tyler had let Tristan saunter in and steal Lexi right out from under his nose, but Lexi had made her choice too. If Lexi had chosen his twin, Tristan would have backed off, but he knew she would never choose Tyler over him. Tristan was aware that it enraged Tyler to see the two of them together, but even if Lexi wasn’t with him, he knew she still wouldn’t be with Tyler. Tristan always ruined everything for Tyler, but this was too much to take and he spirals into bouts of depression. Tristan and Lexi are inseparable all summer, leaving Tyler to entertain Sara, Lexi’s younger sister. This was Tristan’s senior year and he intends to make the most of it. Even though Tristan has made promises to Lexi, he doesn’t keep them. Tyler knows if he betrays Tristan, Lexi will never forgive him, so to keep her friendship all he can do is keep quiet. But it is too much for Tyler when Lexi tells him she is pregnant. Tristan has too bright a future to become a teenaged father. Getting married and raising a child with Lexi is not an option for Tristan, but there is one viable solution that might work out best for everyone. Could Tyler’s dreams suddenly be within his reach and could Tristan be making the biggest mistake of his life? Have all three of them really sealed their futures? 👍 I really enjoyed the greater bulk of this romance. It's been many decades since I was a 17 year old but I thought author Ann Omasta caught the sibling rivalry, egotism, sense of invincibility, wrought emotions and angst of adolescence well. Davis twins Tristan and Tyler are totally into their own feelings and ambitions; the girl they both desire seems more a pawn to them than a person whose feelings matter. I really disliked Tristan (as I believe the author intended), but I found all the young characters but Sarah, the sister of the beauty both twins want, at times impetuous, others selfish or just oblivious to others' feelings or the possible consequences of their actions.
There's 🔥 heat, lots of youthful hormones and unrequited passion, and it's well-written.
The story lost some of its appeal at the end. After developing a great teen romance drama, near the end the story moves to eight years later and this part of the drama is a bit rushed. It was also just too, too neatly wrapped up for me! Other than that, I found it a great read that kept my interest chapter to angst- and hubris-filled chapter.:-)

Enthralling
Taking Chances and Making Choices are the first two books created by author Ann Omasta involving the Davis family. After reading those stories, I fell in love, or should I say I became obsessed with the Davis's.
Breaking Challenges is the beginning story of the next generation. Tristan and Tyler are identical twins. Their saga is a complex and intense story of sibling rivalry. A better depiction would be a modern day version of Cain and Abel.
Usually, every family has a “black Sheep” within, but the Davis clan is jam packed with flawed and infuriating characters who seem to embed themselves in your heart.
I have enjoyed reading all of the penned works of Ms. Omasta, but I must say the Davis stories are my favorite.
I compel you, my fellow readers, to take this emotional journey into the Davis family, you won't regret it.

The story is told from the dual perspective between Tristan, the selfish golden twin, and Tyler, the twin that lacks the self confidence to stand outside of his brother's shadow. As teens, they both fall for the same girl the summer before their senior year in high school. Their father is one of the original generation of Davis twins, so I'm a bit surprised when the parents don't notice or intervene when Tristan does things to purposefully hurt his brother's feelings, especially since this has been happening their entire childhood. The proverbial ship ends up righting itself toward the end of the book, but only when the author skips ahead several years. Then, as an aside, the author throws in an uncle that feels wronged and has his own personal vendetta going. Dirk's story line is a total tangent that the author also wraps up neatly, but doesn't really seem to fit into the main story itself.

Book four of the Davis Twins Series: The Next Generation. Can be read as stand-alone, ends with HEA and no cliffhangers. I read the first three books right before reading this one. I enjoyed the first three books and gave that series 4 ½ stars. I give this book 3 ½ stars. It was just too young for me. The first 74% of the book all the main characters are 17 and in high school. There is a lot of high school drama and I did not like ANY of the main characters, not one of them had a redeeming quality. Then at 74% it jumps to 8 years later and wraps up with HEA for everyone. I would have preferred only the first 25% being them in high school and the last 75% being 8 years later. I would like to read about the main characters developing adult relationships, not just being told that it all worked out in the last chapter and epilogue.

Breaking challenges is a good well written book about family dynamics, jealousy, love and forgiveness. Tristan is the twin that has to win, no matter what .. even if that is the girl his twin Ty wants. So begins a complex and steamy tale with twists and turns, heartache and betrayal. Add a bitter uncle into the mix and things just get worse. This book will keep you reading until the end ... and the brilliant epilogue is the icing on this literary cake. This is the first Davis Twins book I have read and it did not matter that I hadn't read the previous books in this series. I definitely recommend this book.

This is an example that identical twins are as unique as anyone else. Just because they are the mirror physical images does not mean they have the same personality or talents. Tristan and Tyler are truly different guys and yet they fall for the same girl, one summer, Lexi. When Tristan realizes that Tyler has fallen for Lexi, it becomes an immediate challenge to get her first just to prove that he can. It's a look into life lessons for both of twins and what love really is that will break your heart and repair it. 💞💔💞

Tyler has the misfortune of falling for the same girl as his twin Tristan although he met her first. Always playing second fiddle to him he watches his girl Lexi fall for him relegating him as just a friend in her eyes.
Dirk is not a twin and always felt second rated being a bastard. He wants to prove that he belongs as he wants to take over the family business.
We watch as each try to achieve what they want but in doing so miss what they really need. Love does not come simple for the Davis boys as we see in the next generation.

We have identical twin brothers Tyler and Tristan. tristan is the golden boy who can do no wrong and he charms his way out of things. manwhore that he is. When he sees that Ty, the quiet and caring twin, is in love with Lexi , Tristan goes out of his way to charm her and she falls for him - unfortunately! As soon as she's pregnant he dumps her on his brother - what a total creep. I don't like Tristan in the slightest. But then in the background we have Uncle Dirk who is just a few years older than the twins. It's interesting to see the Davis family continuing! Breaking Challenges – The Davis Twins by Ann Omasta. I’ve read the rest of the books in the Davis Twins series and this one is a nice addition to them. You can read this one as a standalone, but I recommend reading the others in this series as well. I would definitely recommend this book to others. This book was filled with a lot of drama, personal struggles and conflict, sexy scenes and of course my favorite the HEA. Even though they are identical, they have their own personalities just like everyone else. I was enthralled by this book as it hits close to home. The story was fascinating to read someone else's idea of what twins are like. It wasn't just a story about the twins though. There was plenty of other characters to share the story and make it memorable. There was suspense and drama. There was a young woman who they both love. It was heartbreaking to read some of the things that the author wrote because it seemed so real and it could happen just as the author wrote. Good story.

This is a story about love and lost and the woman that comes between them not to mention that although they are identical twins, their personalities are by far as different as night and day. Tristan is considered a friend to Lexi, but he is truly in love with her, but it is her brother that she falls for. The brothers have a lot to account for and in the end who will really get the girl. This story will touch you heart and have you wanting to knock Tyler upside the head!

Breaking Challenges (The Davis Twins #4) was a great read by Ann Omasta. This book has the next generation of Davis twins. Tyler Davis knows that his identical twin brother, Tristan, will always be the golden twin. His long term crush, Alexis Bell, is the only thing that truly matters to him. Tristan knows how Ty feels about Lexi and knows that she is drawn to him. Dirk Davis is the forgotten Davis. He is determined to gain acceptance into his family even if he has to force it. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.

Very emotional
I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
This is the first in the Davis Twins series I've read, and although I could follow the story ok, I think it would have been beneficial to have read the other books first. As soon as I started reading this book I got drawn in and I found it really emotional, at points I actually struggled to continue reading but I'm so glad I did as it was totally worth it.

A fun twist to write about the next twins. I liked that and it gave the story a bit more. Well written with great story line and plot. Likeable characters who are well described and develops nice through the story. A story that is very passionate and captivating. Filled with twists and turns.
A mix of drama, jealousy, competition, angst and emotions. This only makes the story more intriguing and enjoyable to read.

This is an intriguing story of twin brother's who are total opposites and both in love with the same girl. The characters are strong and well described and the story has enough twists and turns and ups and downs to keep you reading. It's a very different story line and I enjoyed reading it.

Great story! Ms. Omasta has penned a very engaging story full of the drama and angst of sibling rivalry between high school aged identical twins how one twin knowingly steals his brother’s chosen crush. Throw in the resentful young uncle, and you’ll have a roller coaster of a ride! This is a voluntary and well-deserved review of a review copy received from the author.

An amazing read with many twists and turns, ups and downs, and how did that happens. A grwat strong set of characters. It had alot of heartaches, betrayals, sacrifices, and love a great read. This standalone in the series with the twins Tyler and Tristan an amazing romance book.

Tristan and Tyler are identical twins who are different areas night and day. One the golden twin and the other look over and dismissed. They both fall in love for Lexi and Lexi chooses Tristan but keeps Tyler as her confidant and friend. The book has twists and turns and is an enjoyable read about identical twins.

An interesting, enjoyable story of identical twins that couldn’t be any more different if they tried. The teenage angst was a bit much at times but overall it was an intriguing story with several twists and a happy ending. I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
