Robert Wallace (b. 1932) was born in Springfield Missouri. He graduated from Harvard University in 1953 and later received a Fulbright Scholarship to St. Catharine's College at Cambridge. After his schooling, Wallace served in the army for two years and afterward published his first book of poetry-This Various World, and Other Poems. Wallace began his teaching career in 1957 at Bryn Mawr College and since then has taught at Sweet Briar College, Vassar, and Case Western Reserve University. Wallace also published a poetry journal named Light Year, in an effort to bring poetry to a wider audience. Wallace has published six books of poetry and the textbook Writing Poems.
