Her books sold more than a billion copies in the English language and a billion in translation. According to Index Translationum, people translated her works into 103 languages at least, the most for an individual author. Of the most enduring figures in crime literature, she created Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple. She atuhored The Mousetrap, the longest-running play in the history of modern theater.

Read cards on the table - great read but I have no concept of how a bridge is played so I had to miss a big chunk of the story.

Found a couple of Christies that I hadn't read before. Quite a treat! N or M was particularly good and out of her ordinary style.

cards on the table - a brilliant tale - perhaps similar to sherlock holmes the incident of the dog in the night where the dog did not howl in the night…
(difficult to really appreciate if you have no idea the concept of bridge) but how a Mephistophelian man (Mr. Shaitana) was murdered in his own him during his own dinner party WITH Hercule Poiroit in attendance and still it was a mighty difficult case as to who stabbed him with the little jeweled pin
“stupidity - a sin that is never forgiven and always punished”
why did christie make mrs. oliver the crime author in the book so annoying? is this a reflection of how she sees herself or is she more represented by Hercule P?

N or M? - Tommy and Tuppence Beresford are veteran spies from WW1 who are find themselves in a small town trying to figure out who N or M are - apparent Nazi masterminds trying to land in a small cove and take over England from there. Love the love between Tommy and Tuppence and how strong-willed of a woman she was. As always Christie makes you speculate that things aren’t what they seem but only until the last moment does she make it clear. Her writing is miraculous in how the characters seem to open up beneath our noses and the element of surprise is never far off! Remember a mother with a child could in fact be the spy…
