The novel has a slow start but steadily picks up steam as the plot unfolds. Very much in line with Mason's pulp magazine historical adventure writing.

Loved this. Was one of the first adult books I ever read. Made me question all the groups around the Crusades. A book like this challenged me and made me open to more ideas
