Having long been a fan of her adult books under the pen name Lian Hearn, I have always wanted to try her children's books. I have a few sitting on my shelf to try but when scanning the audio book section at the library I came across this little find.
As we drive home from camp as a family we started off popping in the CD and almost immediately regretted. Tired as we were the narrators character voices were sharp and over the top.....but....
By the end of the first story we had been won over. The characters were alive and interesting. The Australian-ness was charming and winsome. The perspectives of cats and crows, dogs and bats as they view the big world from their perspectives was so interesting and almost profound.
If you have sensitive ears perhaps the audio book isn't for you, or you might have to turn the volume down during Bog's off-key singing. Definitely worth reading though!!!!
