This is NOT light reading. Very comprehensive books.

It's pretty much a business strategy and brand position seminar/workshop in a book.

This is excellent if you're business decision maker or have a business of your own. You can also use this for personal career development, just think of yourself and the business/brand.

Takeaway: Find either the greatest weakness in your opponent / your own greatest strength and press in wholeheartedly to exploit the opportunity.

- Universal Laws of Human Desire: All thing being equal, every person wants what they have in the following ways: More, Easier, FAster, more Certain (MEFAC)
- Fear holds you back, failure does not. Conquer fear and success will quickly follow.

Brian Tracy is an absolute stud, one of my all-time favorite business & personal development writers / speakers of all time (right up there with Drucker IMO). Even though he’s well into his 70’s his writing is better than ever. Have no idea why this book has not garnered more popular attention. One of his best books yet.

As a huge Brian Tracy fan throughout the years this was a nice "re-freshers" of Brians timeless principles for healthy, effective and fulfilled life. In this context Brian mixes his principles and interveaws (is that a word? :) ) with interesting stories from historic battles, for instance the battle of cannae - where "hannibal" won over the might Romans in 216 BC.

Brian has identified 12 principles in Military strategy, that you can you to achieve "success". The principle of :
1. The Objective
2. The offensive
3. The mass
4. Maneuver
5. Intelligence
6. Concerted Action
7. Unity of command
8. Simplicity
9. Security
10. Economy
11. Surprise
12. Exploitation

As in most other books I have read with the author, he informs you about the importance of setting goals. One method being the GOSPA method. (Goals, Objectives, Strategies, Priorities, Actions)

Being brutally honest with yourself, asking the hard questions, doing "zero-based thinking" with the KWINK (Knowing What I Now Know).
I likes that Brian ocassionally hinted at another hero of mine: Richard Buckminster Fuller (RBF) with some of RBF:s theories like:
“The Theory of Precession” meaning that success almost always comes from another direction than anticipated.

The importance of having a "MAJOR DEFINATE PURPOSE", which is anologous to a "life goal", why you might ask? Clarity in life (and in all endevours) brings happiness, resilience, fortitude. Fussiness and "unclarity" = unhappiness. It will be like the horse who has water and food, but dies because it cant choose. Tbh; this is something that I struggle with daily, as I am interested in almost everything.

Other great ideas and reminders (if you read Tracy before) are how to become more creative.
"you only need one good idea to build a fortune" and this is aligned with how I want to live my own life: Open to new ways of doing things. The more opportunities you have the more freedom.

You will learn the importance of taking ownership and being responsible. How top teams work.
Basic formulas that is so straight forward that (I assume) most people dismiss it for to simplistic.

Closing: I have read 10 books from Brian and I recommend all of them. Even this one. Hovewer, depending on what you need to improve in your life, I would not start with this one. I would most likely start with one of Brians most popular books called: "Eat that frog". Which I have re-read many times. Also I would recommend his: "How The Best Leaders Lead" . But perhaps the most GAME-Changing book from Brian that I also re-read 5-6 times is:
Accellerated Learning Techniques. - I think it is written 1995, but most of it is still valid.

And learning as much as you can should at least be your starting point in life, and that book will give you some techniques and ideas on how to learn more effective and more efficient.

A qoute not from the book, but to capture my thoughts about the book:
"As long as you live, keep learning how to live." - Seneca

As all speeches and lectures from Brian Tracy, this book did the same in that it did not fail to deliver. Tracy always seems to find principles where they are most overlooked or uncredited. In this novel, he reveals 12 "Principles of Military Strategy" as he calls it, that have been set as a foundation for military leaders to follow for centuries. Tracy uses examples that date back to the war that defeated the Persian General Darius which made way to Alexander the Great's ruling of Persia.
Tracy begins by explaining the similarities of life and a battle, concluding that we as individuals are the generals and commanders of our own lives, making decisions daily that will contribute to our well being now as well as in the future. Everyday we are faced with obstacles that challenge us as a person physically and mentally, the 12 principles uncovered by Brian Tracy help to bring to light solutions to overcome these obstacles.
These principles vary from teaching to have a set objective in everything we pursue to also being able to use maneuverability to getting around certain situations that would otherwise limit us. Applying each principle strategically throughout our actions can and will lead us our own concepts and perceptions of success.
As individuals we command our everyday lives by not only being able to adapt to our environment and surroundings, but also by consistently following a strategy that can lead to being as great as we desire. Tracy truly reveals the pathways that lead to the knowledge necessary to be able to apply various principles in specific and unique conditions.
