THE USMC SMALL WARS MANUAL 1940

Rate this book
This is a reprint of FMFRP 12-15, the USMC Small Wars Manual of 1940. In the 1920’s and 1930’s the USMC became involved in a series of wars in Central America that are collectively known as the “Banana Wars.” These were small wars against guerillas where the objective was to establish stable governments, not wars of conquest or where the US was threatened. This manual is what established the USMC as the experts in guerilla warfare and was used in Iraq after the capture of Fallujah and what produced the pacification of Iraq. It addresses everything from combat, to logistics, to community relations, to how to pack a mule. It is a guide to fighting guerilla wars.
