Glory in the Fall: The Greatest Moments in World Series History

Rate this book
Baseball has a rich history-and a treasure trove of books, magazines, and newspaper accounts celebrating (or lamenting) what went down on the diamond. And some of the most amazing games happened when fall arrived and the boys of summer played for the championship. During those two weeks in October (now November), time stood still. Nothing else mattered.
This anthology captures the best of times and the worst of times as teams battled for the glory-and will bring back memories to all who cherish America's national sport.

Covers some of the select moments in World Series history from varied journalists of the time. The selections are of the more sentimental or story-telling perspective rather than detailed historical narrative; but, it is clearly for those who know their baseball history and can just enjoy the book.

Golenbock takes you back to the first World Series in 1903 all the way through 2008 with stories by good writers on what made each of those World Series memorable. He doesn't cover them all but a good share of them. Reading it brought back a lot of memories for me of great World Series I have watched on TV over the years. I am a big baseball fan and fall baseball is special.

Glory in the Fall is a nice collection of articles and short stories chronicling the World Series from the turn of the 20th Century until as recent as 2008. My favorites were penned by the editor himself, Peter Golenbock. Any fan of baseball will enjoy this book.
