The year is 1000 A.D. and the world is headed for annihilation at the hands of black-hearted Russandra, a sorceress who has absorbed enough evil power from the dark realms of the Otherworld to completely destroy the earth. Only one thing stands in her way, and it is a warning and a promise of hope spelled out in a single prophesy from the Ancients. Using her detached shadow as a spy, Russandra finally locates the prophesied Deliverer, whom she must destroy to allow her to complete her plans. But wait! He is only a twelve-year-old boy named Aldrin from the quaint little township of Dunns Hollow. So what can a simple boy child do to stop her? Then comes the sorcerer Andermateos to tell Aldrin that he alone contains the power to stop Russandra and save the world from sure destruction. At last facing Russandra's evil power head on, Aldrin fully understands that he must take immediate action if he is to save everyone. He has the power. He has only to use it. But Aldrin has doubts . . . and time is running out.
I read this book a long time ago and have read the manuscripts for the following volumes. They were an exciting read as a child. The hero was someone to look up to - even if its a young boy who always ends up choosing correctly.
