Never Moving On

Rate this book
Being in love with your best friend sucks.

Being in love with your best friend while he's dating your roommate sucks harder.

It's time for me to move on.

Stella

The moment ten-year-old me laid eyes on the scrawny new kid in school, I loved Jacob Gonzales. Over ten-years of friendship, my feelings have never wavered.
Why then, did I introduce him to my gorgeous roommate? Call it a momentary lapse in judgment. Now, not only do I get a front seat to their daytime PDA, I get it in stereo every night.
Fun times.
It’s past time I move on, so when a sexy as hell football player asks me out, I agree.
Problem is, Jacob doesn’t want to let me go.

Jacob
First game of the season and I’m left with a concussion, no girlfriend, and a best friend who seems to be pulling away, even as I try to get closer.
As if things couldn’t get worse, along comes Mr. All-American Cornerback who eyes Stella like she’s his next meal and sets my douchebag sensors on high-alert.
No way am I letting some idiot with a wanna-be anime haircut steal her away from me.
Because Stella is mine.
Even if she doesn’t know it yet.

Never Moving On is a spicy best friends to lovers college romance with an alpha-cinnamon roll hero, no cliffhanger an a guaranteed HEA.

Hilarious and Sexy

C.R. Lee is my new favorite author. She has a way with words that left me laughing and swooning over her characters. Stella and Jacob were best friends destined to be together forever. But because he’s a dumbass, and Stella is a strong, independent woman, he has to prove he’s all in. If you love rom-coms and you spicy romance, you’ll love Never Moving On!

Best Friends Forever

I absolutely loved this story of Jacob and Stella. These two are childhood friends who were two peas in a pod. Stella was Jacob's Peace of Mind, #1 Supporter, Confidant and Most Loyal and Trusted friend. Jacob was Stella's Protector, Jokester, Gentleman, Wingman her most Trusted, Possessive and Loyal Friend.

Jacob was so clueless when it came to Stella. Stella has been in love with him since they were kids and he had no clue. Nor did he understand why he always c*ckblocked any girl who wanted to date her and was always jealous when she gave another guy attention.

It wasn't until Jacob's friends pulled his head out of the sand to open his eyes to what was right in front of him. When Jacob was at his lowest Stella was always there.

Jacob and Stella had a few ups and downs while trying to navigate the complexities of moving from Friends to Lovers. They just couldn't seem to get it right until time apart made them realize exactly what they meant to each other.

This was a beautiful story and Jacob was absolutely swoon worthy when the lightbulb above his head finally clicked on. This book gives you all the feels and ends in a HEA.

Page Turner!

This is definitely the kind of book that you can’t put down and you are flying through it because it’s just so darn good, and then you get mad because you realize it’s almost over and it’s gone too fast! It’s chock full of lovable, relatable characters that’ll keep your heart humming. When the characters are up, it’s like being on cloud nine, but when they crash, it feels like you’re hearts been shattered right alongside theirs.

Being in love with your best friend while he dates everyone but you, including your roommate sucks, but Stella weathers the storm. When Jake finally pulls his head out of his butt and realizes that Stella feels way more for him than he could ever hope, she’s with someone else. But Jake won’t lose his chance. After finally getting together, their relationship is anything but stable as obstacle after obstacle keeps coming at them. Eventually, it’s too much and Stella and Jake need space, but the space could spell the end and cause irreparable damage to both of their hearts.

I love a good sports romance that go from best friends to more. Warms my heart and has me smiling. I enjoyed the complexities of trying to move from friends to more. Especially when the guy can’t figure out how long she’s loved him. A sweet relaxing read. *I was given a copy and am voluntarily giving my honest review.

What a fab debut! Thoroughly enjoyed it. College, sports romances are my catnip and this one hit the spot for me.

"I'm sorry to break this to you, man. You don't treat her like just a friend."

Stella Leone and Jacob Gonzales have been best friends since they were kids. Their lives have been intertwined for ten years. They have an affectionate, tactile friendship but it's purely platonic. However, Jacob doesn't seem to realise that his best friend feels anything but platonic towards him and has to suffer through all his relationships. When his latest relationship with her friend and roommate goes south, and someone points out that his friendship with Stella is more than he thinks, he's suddenly seeing his best friend in a completely different light. Unfortunately, it looks like she's moving on.

"She belongs with me, belongs to me. And if that makes a domineering bastard, so be it. I don't care. Because I belong to her too."

I thought it was obvious from the little signs here and there that Jacob felt more than friendship for Stella. She has incredibly stoic in dealing with his relationships but I could understand why she put up with them - she loved him and wanted him to be happy, even if that meant it wasn't with her. But, goodness, she put up with a lot!! She was an excellent friend to everyone - caring, thoughtful and empathetic. Once their friendship stepped over the line, the two of them were fire! They already loved one another as friends but their intimacy added a whole other level. Jacob was a good guy but not flawless. He had his insecurities and vulnerabilities, and I thought that made him a very credible character. I adored the conclusion and how it became very clear that Stella was always the one for him.

ARC Review

This is the first book I read from author C.R Lee and I have to say that I don’t regret it. The overall book is well written and easy to follow. Never Moving On is a best friends to lovers trope.

This book will have you laughing, crying and getting angry but you will also be swooned. I enjoyed reading about the other characters and I can’t wait for their own story. The character development is really good too.

“Fuck, you’re wet. What do you want, baby?” ~Jacob

Jacob Gonzalez is good looking, strong, talented in and out of the bedroom. He’s a dirty talking alpha who’s jealous and possessive over what’s his and Stella is his.

“Jacob, I don’t want it sweet.” ~ Stella

Stella is a sweet, smart and beautiful woman who has been in love with her best friend for ten years. She’s loved him silently but it’s time she moves on.

Is it too late for these two or will love conquer all?

Overall, the author has done an amazing job and I enjoyed Jacob and Stella’s story. Never Moving On is a best friends to lovers college romance trope filled with drama, angst and spice🌶️🌶️.

Don’t for get to order your copy of Never Moving On releasing early 2023.

Never Moving On by C.R Lee is definitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such a good book. This is the first book in a new series that is told in first person POV by the main male and female characters. This is a friends to lovers, full of steamy chemistry, tested friendships and relationships. I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put it down.

I love that Stella was so caring towards everyone around her. I loved how Jacob was portrayed as your typical college football player, always with model type ladies a jock, but was always there to protect Stella even when she didn’t want it but was blind to her feelings. I love how the story unravels and opens his eyes to see what was in front of him the whole time. I love that after everything, he worked so hard to earn Stella back.

These side characters make this story even better. I love catching up, and wondering if another story will come for, Ryan and Charlotte (they had a prequel short story for newsletter sign up). I am so curious if it will be Emma and Malcom or Kat and Malcom. That Kat is awesome and I really hope she gets her own book!!! I can’t wait to read more!

I enjoyed this story. Generally I don’t reach for college/jock stories (probably due to my age) but I gave this one a go. The characters really drew me in and I had to keep reading into the night to see where they ended up. I would definitely be interested in reading more about the ancillary characters. I understand this is a new author and I have to say this book was well written.

Never Moving on is the debut book of CR Lee. It is a college sports romance with a best friends to lovers relationship. Stella has been in love with Jacob for years, but he has never seen her as more than a best friend/sister until his friends point it out to him while he is recovering from a football injury. After that, he can't stop seeing her as more than a friend, but a complicated new development in his life throws him a curve ball and transitioning from friends to lovers becomes a difficult journey.

If you need a cozy beach read or a quick and easy book to escape into, this one is definitely for you! It does end with a happily ever after as well. I read this book almost entirely in one sitting. Once I got into the story, it was hard to put it down. There were so many things that I really enjoyed about it. The main character, Stella, is so relatable and down to earth. She has hysterical inner monologues and it is so easy to route for. Her character is written so well, and I feel everything that she feels in this story. Unrequited love can be painful, especially when you see the person all day every day and this really comes across in the book. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Stella and Charlie. We all had that one friend in college that knew what we needed before we did, and she was it for Stella. They have a beautiful friendship, and I loved how they were always there for each other. Jacob's character was a little less lovable for me. I really liked him in the first half of the book, and then when the story takes its turn, he falls off the pedestal for me. I just wanted to shake him and yell at him for the way he behaves - kudos to the author for that! I enjoy a good roller coaster ride of emotions when reading, and this definitely hits the mark.

Lastly, Emma - she makes me cringe, and I did not like her character at all. I don't know how the author can redeem her for me in the sequel. I strongly dislike her and her actions!! Will CR Lee change my mind? I guess I will have to read the next one in the series to see!

Overall, this was a great first novel from CR Lee, and I look forward to reading more of her stories!

Okay Read

This was an okay read. I liked the story and loved most of the characters. Kat was probably my favorite. :)
It irritated me some that Stella forgave Jacob so easily. He was the one pushing her away and ignoring her but got let off the hook pretty easily. I liked Jacob and totally understood what he was going thru at the end, but he did not treat our girl right, and he didn't really apologize for it. It was kind of like Stella just needed to accept it.
I thought some parts were kind of glossed over and dismissed pretty quickly. Like with Dean, that whole situation was weird and was resolved so easily. Other than Jacob deciding that Stella was desirable, Dean's character didn't really serve a purpose.
I'm semi-interested in Emma & Kat's stories, but I'm not sure if I will continue this series or not.

This is the first book in the Never You Series, I really enjoyed, the beginning we meet Stella the MFC and Jacob the MMC of this adorable friendship. Stella has loved Jacob for as long as she can remember, but he thinks of her as a sister. And there is only one problem. He is dating her best friend and roommate Emma.

The trio is attending a college party and while trying to not feel like the third wheel Stella walks outside to cool off, while standing there she is approached by a young man who attempts to hit on her, very poorly as shown in the quote below. Which is probably one of my favorite from the book.

“Twenty, really? You look like you’re twelve,” says the used-to-be hot guy who just approached me at this party.

“You said that I looked like I was twelve, yet you’re here hitting on me. So that can only mean one of two things: you’re either an asshole who never quite got over the pulling her pigtails method of courtship, or you’re a pedophile. Now, I would hate to be rude and call someone I just met an asshole, hence my original question: Are you a pedophile?”

Jacob is always hugging and kissing (on the cheek) Stella when they are together, acting as her protector whenever another guy goes near her. Emma does get jealous most times which is understandable. However, when one of the other players on the football team gets overzealous with Stella and neither herself nor Emma can get him to stop, Emma is glad to see Jacob there to take care of the situation.

When Jacob is injured during a game and rushed to the hospital, its Stella who is there for him, Emma gives an excuse for not going in to see him, it’s a solid one, however Jacob is hurt terribly that his girlfriend is not there for him when he needs her. Once released he realizes what needs done, he must end their relationship. It is just not going where he thought it would be.

Stella and Jacob’s relationship has its ups and down, but can love really rise above it all? You are probably thinking I have said too much already and gave away all the juicy details…. But you would be wrong. So go head and download this book and the second because we both know you will have to once you read this one.

This is not only a new to me author but a new authors 1st book. I saw this book advertised and the blurb sounded great. As I started reading it I found it so hard to believe this is the 1st book published by this author. It is beautifully written. The characters are brought to life with the descriptive writting style. This author brings every emotion forward. At times your heart is broken, full of anxiety, full of frustration, full of disapointment, and then full of love and happiness. As one character decides to put their heart out there and blast how they feel the other finds themself trying to catch up. As all the characters have their life struggles its very clear how much they all care. I hope to see books on the side characters. This may be the 1st book but I promise you I will read every single book by this author. I do a ton of reading and this book really impressed me got my feels from the characters connections to the hot steamy moments to the ups and downs. This isca must read fantastic book.

▶️ Dual Point of view
🤍 Friends to Lovers
🤣 Rom - Com
🏈 Sports Romance

Stella (FMC) and Jacob (MMC) have been best friends since they were young & have been the most loyal to one another in their friendship and love for one another. Even when conflict & bumps in the road have gotten in the way. They have a fun bantering back and forth as well as a great relationship. But Jacob is too dumb to realize Stella is into him more than just as his best friend. And… she has been for quite some time now. But when he is finally able to see what is in front of him, he puts everything into their new relationship. I don’t want to give any major spoilers- but trust me in this one, it’s a great book to go on an adventure in.

This is also this authors debut novel- and kudos!! Such a well written storyline. Amazing character development. Lots of emotions from happiness, to heart break, angst and some funny fun laughable moments! All the best built into this amazing story!

I can’t wait to read the next book by this author! Fantastic job to her!

Me at 57% -
God he’s so immature she deserves way better than to put up with his bs he is constantly messing up then he figures out his mistake and apologizes, she forgives him like his behavior wasn’t completely unacceptable. She is constantly crying over him. And like it’s constantly him like treating her like he wants her only when he wants her he gets grumpy. He needs to understand the world isn’t all about him. Dude literally took 10 years to like her and only when she was starting to date someone else, he wanted her. He should’ve figured it out wayyy sooner he does NOT deserve her. HE JUST DOESNT USE HIS BRAIN.

92% -
She finally stands up for herself and calls him out on his bs and how it’s happened SEVERAL times, he finally fixes himself and treats her right but I think it did take him too many times to fix his crap.
At the end to can tell they’re happy it’ll all work out but I think I just disliked him too much for this to get 5 stars.

Other-
What happened with dean? His character changed like 3 times, and he did not need to be glossed over like that towards the end??

I loved every second, even the parts that made me cry and twisted my heart in my chest. The story captured me and I was Stella and Jacob as each told their part of the story. It’s not easy or cheesy and doesn’t end when they get together and realise their not just best friends. Life doesn’t work like that and neither did this story. Jacob’s life implodes and he pushes everyone away including Stella, multiple times, and it breaks her heart. Reconciliation is more than just saying your sorry as Jacob learns and HEA’s aren’t always easy or guaranteed. This book is a roller coaster of emotion and has more than one relationship going through it, I’m so hoping that there are more books coming because this new author has a real talent and I want to read more. Sweet, steamy, angsty, heartbreaking, heartwarming and it does have a HEA to soothe the earlier hurts (just in case you were worried 😉).

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving an honest review.

Writing was pretty basic. Plot was simplistic; MC’s medical issue was a bit out of the norm, however. I liked Kat a lot. I thought it was unrealistic for FMC and Emma to patch it up that quickly. Fact is FMC violated the girl code. Regardless of her feelings and lengthy friendship with MC, none of that changes the fact that she slept with her friend’s ex within a few days of them breaking up—and the friend still liked him and hadn’t wanted to break up! Big girl code violation. Also kind of Rocky that FMC got with him within days when she’s just spent months listening to him having sex with her friend. Yuck. Overall, it was more of a 2.5 read. Not going to reread it but I didn’t hate it. FMC wasn’t entirely likable with her actions. She also took MC back too easily and too many times given his treatment of her. Then again, his actions weren’t the most egregious I’ve seen—particularly given what he was going through—so I wasn’t that upset by her choices.

It's the first book from Courtney that I've read and I was very happy being part of her ARC Team. It's actually the author’s debut novel and I really liked it!

The story is about Stella and Jacob, two best friends who grew up together. The book has the following tropes: friends to lovers and second chance. The only trigger warning that I've found is the one about an abusive parent.

The writing was very good, especially for a debut novel. The plot was interesting, sweet and heartwarming. It was actually very easy to read. The smutty part was nice and steamy. Stella was feisty, sweet and cute. She was a really nice person and loved Jacob with all her heart. Jacob was very protective of Stella. He was handsome, talented, nice, sweet and attractive, but a bit of an asshole.

Overall, I really liked this book! It was a great start for Courtney! Totally recommend it!

Have you ever had a crush on your best friend and he doesn’t know you exist? Read Stella and Jake’s story and you’ll be sobbing! Such a heartfelt story full of friendship, love, and miscommunication. I love how author CR Lee found a balance between Jake (typical football hottie) and Stella (normal nerdy girl with self doubt) as the story continues you can see how strong Stella is and how perfect these two are together. Unfortunately Jake is dating her best friend Emma and is oblivious to the fact that Stella has been in love with him for 10 years. Best friends to lover romances are so sweet and they give me all the feels. The story wasn’t all about their struggles trying to move from friendship to a dating relationship. There was so much more to the story and I would definitely recommend this for a nice relaxing weekend read!

This is a best friends to lovers book where the main characters have been BFF’s for 10 years.
I really enjoyed this book and loved Stella & Jacob they were so perfect for each other however they never made a move with each other and Stella had to watch Jacob date numerous girls while she waited for him to notice her.
Jacob had loved Stella when they were younger but then thought of her as a sister until his 2 friends told him she loved him and he was too stupid to see it and that’s when Jacob realised he wanted her but thought he was too late when she dated someone else.
This book also covers epilepsy and what happens to someone when they feel their whole life has been taken away and the depression that follows.
It’s a lovely feel good romance where they need to overcome a few obstacles to find their HEA.

I ate this book UP. This is a friends to lovers, sport, college romance. When I tell you that I had CHILLS reading this book 🫣 it was spicy, funny, captivating and so good I couldn’t put it down.

This book follows Jacob and Stella who have been friends since grade school. They’re in college together, and she has been in love with Jacob forever. And everyone knows it except him… even his girlfriend.

This book goes through hardships that Jacob faces and Stella is a bad ass, when she is fired up, she tells him exactly how she feels and I LOVED her.

This was C.R. Lee’s first book and I was STUNNED. This was such a good read, I gave it 5⭐️’s and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Best friends since they were kids and Stella has loved Jacob since day one. Jacob doesn't realize his feelings for Stella until his life get turned upside down and he can clearly see whats right in front of him. Unfortunately, Stall has decided to move on. When Jacob destroys any chance of a successful date with anyone else and Jacob makes his intentions known, they embark on a sexy, heartfelt time of discovery for them both. They learn what they will and won't tolerate and work through some serious baggage to get their happily ever after. I loved the story and all the secondary characters were great and I can se future books being just as good with those group of friends as well. Can't wait to get back into this world.

Stella Leone is a cute college girl that is in love with her bestfriend, Jacob Gonzales. Two problems with that: he is currently dating her roommate and does not think of her in that way. Jacob is a football player and at the top of the college social ladder along with his friends, Malcolm and Ryan. Though Jacob is with Stella's roommate, Emma, he is weirdly protective of Stella. Something happens that put Jacob and Emma's relationship to the test and he finally realizes that they are not a good fit. After waking up from his relationship haze, Jacob realizes Stella has always been there for him - no matter what.

Will these two finally open their eyes and hearts to see what is right in front of them? These college kids deal with a lot on top of trying to get through the semester. With things changing so rapidly, they have to learn how to lean on one another to get though the tough times.

I loved Jacob and Stella and the whole crew. I hope the other books in this series gives us more insight on the other people in this circle of friends. Especially Kat, Emma's sister and also Stella's roommate. That is a feisty one and she brings levity to many tense situations.

C.R. Lee has woven a series that has me hooked. I can't wait to read more from her.

This was such an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. At first, I couldn't quite understand why Jacob suddenly got all hot and bothered by Stella, but then it clicked—perhaps he was always in denial. The complexity of their relationship unfolded beautifully, crushing my soul one moment and then piecing it back together with laughter the next.

Poor Stella, enduring so much all this time, while Jacob is such an assh*ole to her, but there's a part of me that can't help but feel sorry for him too.

Overall, this book was a whirlwind of emotions that left me reeling. Despite its ups and downs, I couldn't put it down until the very end. Fave quote: "Living without you feels like dying"

It's rare that I read a young romance story, but I was intrigued by the blurb and had some extra time to devote to what I call 'free reads' - those stories that just capture my eye as I peruse my kindle. Stella and Jacob are typical young adults - focussed on school and life and popularity but neither really dig deep into emotional maturity until outside forces push them together. While I enjoyed their relationship, and found that jealousy is not always easy to deal with, their troubles only really started when pride stepped in. I was happy to see that all is resolved (yes, this is a romance) and that a realistic solution is found for what can be a terrifying condition.
