INCLUDES AN ATTACHED 70 MINUTE DVD OF THE FLOGGING DEMONSTRATION ILLISTRATED IN THE BOOK. With 62 Titles planned, of which this title is the second, under the overall editorship of Joseph W Bean, Nazca Plains has created the SM/Tech series.
I expected only a typical how-to SM book--they can be oddly formulaic and dry, perhaps those that are trying to represent themselves in a sanitary fashion to the general public.
Fucking like this is not reasonable, I am here to tell you. It is chaotic and ferocious (if done with any passion) and we are poking forces larger than ourselves. I'm glad J. Bean can recognize that and work within it.
The discussion of consent as a sort of voltage or fluid is uncomfortable and unique...and his treatment of the tension between the beast within (who wants to destroy you and roll in the blood) and the universal love for one's partners, is damn good.
Some really useful insight into flogging and the various factors that go into making a successful flogging scene. As usual it seems with SM texts, there are things I disagree with (sub space is mainly initiated through sting), and some I think are missing (the bottom thinking about breathing). But there is much that is worthy of study and has added to my knowledge. Specifically: - scene description case studies - the skin and muscle responses, and the biological, conscious, and unconscious responses that underlie them, and what it means for the progression of a scene - care of floggers - various examinations of top/bottom interactions that go towards making a successful session. Overall, recommended for all new and experienced floggers.
This short book is the best discussion of the art of contact play I have seen. It is a sensible and informative foundation for the novice flogger or flogger.
