Warren began to write in the evenings and early mornings as a form of escapism from life in a very small cubicle with lots of files. A quick review of the series:
Subject Twenty-One ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was thrown into this post apocalyptic world immediately in the first few pages. A classic story of the haves holding the have nots captive with just enough of an economic, social and physical stranglehold for the Potior and Medius to keep the “lowly” Sapiens in place. This world on Thyman Base had Eyes everywhere, escape was impossible and besides, there was nowhere to go. However, but below the surface thereya force ready to erupt.
The Hidden Base ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It is obvious that AE Warren knows how to spin and tell an epic tale of love, power and intrigue whilst raising the old philosophical questions of power. Some authors excel in character development, others in the world building. Then there are those who are able to weave these two elements together for the flow and tempo of the story...AE Warren in one of those authors.
The Fourth Species ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A calm before the storm. It’s darkest before the dawn as Elise and others are forced to face their destiny. Warren has built a facade of acceptance on the part of the Sapiens. It’s up to both Elise and Twenty-Two…the present and the past to decide what is worth fighting for. “To protect the past, they must fight for their future.” A devastating change is on the cusp of the horizon. They can almost see the future; but can they trust and rally together to win it? The Fourth Species is a reflective story filled with what ifs because “all lives are precious”. I couldn’t put it down.
The Final Rising
is a hopeful, satisfying and beautifully written ending for Tomorrow’s Ancestors where the past and the present come together for a future for all. Warren has seamlessly woven a tight, action packed and breathtaking story that kept me on edge long after closing the book. It left me hopeful. A Beautifully written finale!

The finale of the Tomorrow's Ancestors series is here, and it's time to turn turn the rigid society ruled by genetically enhanced humans upside down!
In the previous books, we learned about the genetic engineering used to produce superior versions of humans, as well as bringing back extinct species, including Neanderthals. Unenhanced humans are held responsible for the historic damage to the planet and forced to make reparations, while the elite use their genetic knowledge and upgrades to hold onto power. Elise, an unenhanced Sapien, works with the Neanderthals in the Museum of Evolution, where they live in zoo-like conditions with no knowledge of the contemporary world.
Elise and several Neanderthals have escaped from the Museums, and have been living in hiding with other Sapiens who are unhappy with their controlled society. After the disastrous events of 'The Fourth Species', book three in the series, her companions set about finding a space place to build their own society, outside the influence of the genetically enhanced ruling classes.
The key characters from the previous books are back, working together to protect their community, but there's a spy in their settlement and nothing they are working for is safe. Elise and her friends must decide who to trust, and what to risk for their safety and eventual freedom.
It's another exciting instalment in the series, and (without spoiling anything!) a satisfying ending to the story.

The Final Rising is the triumphant conclusion to the Tomorrow’s Ancestors series. Tensions are rising amongst the free people. Their base has been discovered and destroyed, their people are scattered or captured – presumed dead. Can they possibly come back from such a crushing blow?
Since book one, the reader has followed Elise as she kicked against the Draconian rules of those who self-styled themselves as being better than her. This series is – amongst many things – a coming-of-age journey as Elise grows from a nervous child to a confident fighter ready to do whatever it takes to change the world. And it is a world that cries out to be changed.
But someone within their inner circle is a traitor. Trying to discover who has betrayed them, Elise is not prepared for the secrets she will uncover and the lives that will be lost because of this treachery. Yet life is rarely black and white, and Elise will learn that sometimes the darkest deeds are committed for the right reasons.

Terrible book, generic feminist trope, overly simplistic ideas and completely pointless story line. Book 1 was ok but the other 3 are tedious.

Loved, loved, loved this series. Thoroughly recommend. Favourite book series 2024 for sure.
