Breathtaking full-color photography complement an intriguing exploration of outer space, in a visual look at modern astronomy that features pictures from the Mars Pathfinder and Voyager probes, telescope images from around the world, and images from the Hubble telescope.
OK, so you're not really supposed to read coffee table books. I did anyway. So sue me.
The writing strikes a perfect balance between science jargon and understandable English. The flow is great too, starting in our own solar system and then moving further outward until the reader reaches the outer limits of the universe. Spectacular photos throughout as well. Even if one does not have much of an interest in the cosmos, this book remains a great work.
