AshleyNicole ladies and gentlemen!!!! At this point I expect nothing less from her. The pen she touches always produces gold! This was a “Best Friends” to lovers story I never knew I needed.
Dash is a well known celebrity and is part of a 5 person group. Outside of the group he has done extremely well for himself and all the ladies want him. Everyone except Sesali. After being invited to an industry party by her home girl Zoe, Sesali is tasked with making it know to Dash that her friend Zoe has her eyes set on him and she helps Zoe shoot her shot. The only problem is, Dash aint checking for Zoe. He is captivated by the beauty in the corner in her own little world seemingly unimpressed by the glitz and glam around her. By the end of their encounter, Dash makes it crystal clear that he and Sesali WILL be best friends.
After reuniting 2 weeks later at one of his concerts, Dash puts operation Best Friends in motion and one of the most beautiful angst free journeys begins. These two were the absolute cutest and their chemistry was so natural and organic. This is definitely the foundation one would want going into a relationship. They were able to joke with one another and when I say joke I mean the jokes had me cackling LOUDLY. They had the long conversations, the talks about everything and nothing at all. Their story was not skimping on the drama but through it all their relationship remained A1 and I have no doubt it was because of the solid friendship they established. Amazing read that you need to add to your TBR ASAP!!

When I tell y’all AshleyNicole showed up and showed TF out with this book! Sis’ pen game is wicked! I Wanna Be Down was a phenomenal read. The author wasted no time coming through with the shyts and giggles. That opening scene had me literally LMAO! 🤣🤣🤣 Super producer Dash Dean has had his fair share of women but, as he’s gotten older, he’s decided he wants more than one night stands and threesomes. When he spots Sesali on the balcony at an industry party, he realizes she’s what’s been missing and he’s instantly besotted with her. Although she’s intrigued, Sesali is not tryin' to go there with Dash because, her BFF has a huge crush on him and has already called dibs. The only problem with that is, Dash ain’t checkin for Zoe and his lack of interest is going to disrupt the fiber of their friendship. No matter how hard Sesali tries to gas her friend up to Dash, he just isn’t interested. He only has eyes for the freckled face curly haired cutie on the balcony. Sesali is a unicorn to Dash. His celebrity doesn’t impress her and that impresses him. So, to make sure he can stay in her space and maintain access to her, Dash claims Sesali as his new bestie and the dopest friendship is born. I absolutely love this couple. Sesali and Dash’s chemistry just radiated throughout the book. I loved how they were able to build a genuine friendship before romance even entered the picture. The text messages, the phone calls, the late night FaceTimes, the cuddle sessions, and the hilarious back and forth banter about his sexy ankles and her run in with the weenie guy was the natural progression of their relationship starting without either of them realizing it. The way they organically fall in love will make your heart flutter. While Sesali and Dash may have had an angst free love journey, the author did not skimp on the drama. Zoe and Loso are going to give you all the messy and petty drama you didn’t ask for. Speaking of Loso, can I just say, Dash read TF out of his azz! When I tell y’all, that read was epic and will go down in literary history! By the time Dash got to that last bytch, my mouth was literally hanging open and I was clutchin’ my shirt and my invisible pearls. Whew! I Wanna Be Down was absolutely amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever read a love story that was so chill and low key but, still managed to be romantic. The comedic relief was very on par for AshleyNicole. I laughed my azz off from start to finish. If you haven’t read this book yet, what are you even doing with your life?!!!

Mandatory Read. There was humour, depth, true connections, love, intimacy and more. I felt more invested in Sesali and Dash being together and having a happy ending because I got to see their beginning. Sesali and Dash relationship felt so real and genuine. I loved it, loved their personalities. Now Akasha was my girl too, she said it like it was no sugarcoating. Jealousy clearly distorted reality and bred ignorance and stupidity, cause Zoe and Los, really🤯🤯. I am with Akasha, oh how I wish she saw Zoe after everything went down. As for the live meeting when Dash let be known, I loved it and more.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. AshleyNicole does no wrong in my eyes. She is the queen of romantic comedies. And I do mean laugh out loud comedies.
Y'all know I'm a sucker for friends to lovers and this best friend to lovers was done to perfection.
Sesali and Dash formed such a strong friendship. The banter, the late nights chats, the after work chat, the day-time chats, all the chats, the little things they do for one another, absolutely swoon worthy. The story had love, laughter…ankles (yes, I said ankles 👀) and a few plot twists that made the story even more captivating.
Everytime I read AshleyNicole, it makes me wanna binge her books. She's one of the few authors I automatically download, no questions asked, who can also make me interrupt my reading order.

I LOVED this!!! The humor, the drama, the character depth and personalities. I loved the build up from friends to lovers. It was all very captivating. I just loved Sesali & Dash so damn much.

I am so glad my fellow goodreads friends posted and reviewed this book. I absolutely loved everything about it. This book gave me all the laughs and mushy goods feels. It was hilariously funny throughout and I found myself consistently cackling for the first quarter of the book alone.
Sesali, her two friends Zoe and Akasha are thick as thieves or so they thought. Zoe has a celebrity crush on super producer Dash Dean. She has already let the two know that she has dibs on Dash if they encounter him. Sesali ends up being the first to meet Dash at an industry party that the trio attend. As the unassuming Sesali tells Dash all about her friend claiming him as her future husband and baby daddy she doesn't realize that Dash is intrigued as well as smitten by her. Dash expresses his interest but after being shot down he quickly comes up with the excuse of becoming best friends. No matter how many opportunities Sesali present to Zoe to allow her to pursue Dash, Zoe can't close the deal. That's because she never stood a chance, he only has eyes for Sesali. You can imagine how this went over with Zoe. However, instead of acknowledging the fact that Dash was never checking for her from the beginning and being happy for her friend, Zoe becomes a jealous and conniving Bish.
Dash Dean used to be member of a rap group, the Young Vetz. Dash left the group after his longtime friend and group member Loso started an unreciprocated beef with first, the group and then Dash. Dash goes on to flourish as a producer but becomes a loner after cutting off his former band members. Dash begins to realize that something is missing from his solitary existence. When he meets Sesali, he thinks it may be her. After all, she's the first person in a while to make him question his lifestyle. The two embark on their journey to becoming best friends, ultimately building a strong and lasting foundation while navigating through jealous friends, past trauma, and distractions. It's always been Dash's ulterior motive to be more than friends however, Sesali slowly discovers that they were always meant to be more.
Akasha is the real MVP, when you think of ride or die best friend, sis is it. If there is ever an example of what a friend is not, it was Zoe. I just couldn't understand how she didn't see the situation for what it was, sis was delusional. Your girl Sesali and her weird a$$ fetish had me in tears throughout the entire book. If I could read 100 more like this, I would. If you have any recs like this, please send them my way.

Super Chill and Super Sweet!
I don’t think I’ve ever read a love story that was so chill and low key! Sesali and Dash were everything!! They were strangers that quickly developed a really dope friendship! These two together was a whole vibe! We see them laugh together! Have fun together! Develop trust with one another! Brought out the best in each other! Cute FaceTime and phone calls! Lots of hugs and cuddles! Their deep conversations and hilarious banter! Omg! I loved it all! Even the wieners and sexy ankles 🤣🤣 iykyk! Of course after all of the time they spent together, a romance was the natural progression of this relationship. 🥹
They were absolutely made for each other! I loved them both DOWN! Their personalities were dope! I had so much fun reading about these two. Love doesn’t have to be complicated. It isn’t always filled with uncertainty. It doesn’t have to rushed. Sometimes it’s as simple as making a complete stranger your BFF 🤣🤣
I commend Sesali and Dash for their insane levels of maturity. Because their so called “friends” definitely did not deserve so much grace! 😡 Dash definitely had a crazy amount of self control. A lesser man would have handled things a completely different way. 👏🏾👏🏾

What a vibe between Sesali and Dash! Sesali meeting Dash at a party that she only went to with her friends specifically for her friend Zoe to get with Dash was a turn of events i was here for! Also how this story opens up? “Rub my weenie!” Lmao AshleyNicole has no sense and is funny as hell! The comedic relief throughout this book was great and needed especially when dealing with some of the heavy parts from Dash’s past and one specific band member. The journey of Dash and Sesali’s friendship was so fun to see like they were really friends, but once that window opened for Dash he bust that window out and made her his! Zoe can go to hell and once y’all read all the mess she pulled y’all will agree! This book was so good and the epilogue was so sweet! I want to reread this fun love story again! Another winner from AshleyNicole and y’all should definitely go read this book!

If it is one thing I know for sure, it is that Ashley Nicole is going to make me laugh out loud! When I tell you that I began giggling at 2% and laughed the entire way through; I mean that ish! Tears, choking and all! 🤣 I loved Sesalie right from the start! You could tell that sis was not pressed by much, and she just had a cool vibe! She was living her life unapologetically! Her friends Zoe and Kosh pushing her to go to an industry party, changed her whole life! Enter Dash, the celeb that everyone wants including Sesalie’s bestie Zoe. Miss Zoe has her mind set that she is going to have Dash and is on a mission! Sesalie is already over all these people at the party and is ready for her bed! So, she retreats to the balcony. Dash notices her and is immediately intrigued. They have a quick but fun conversation, and he declares, she will be his best friend!
You have to love Sesalie’s heart and loyalty to her friends! She tried to stay away from Dash, as she knew that Zoe was crazy for this man! But Dash was not thinking about Zoe’s thirsty ass, and it was full speed ahead with his new best friend to be! Dash wanted something genuine, and it was hard to find that in the industry. Sesalie showed him something different, and he was drawn to her. These two were just hilarious! I will never forget about the mustache and the ankles, like ever!

I cannot stress how much I loved this read! You did it again ma’am! Amazing! 👍👍👍

Dash and Sesali were so good together even before Sesali acknowledged they were a thing. Dash was intrigued by her as soon as he laid eyes on her. Sesali on the other hand was on some friend code ish, which I understood but that Zoe was trash, so the loyalty was unnecessary. Dash swore Sesali was his bestie and the truth was, he just wanted to be close to her. They were able to build a friendship, despite the underlying connection they had. They talked often and cut up constantly. They were a whole vibe and you could not help, but root for them. Months are passing and they are sharing in life events together, and along the way their relationship is slowly shifting. I love the support they showed for each other. Eventually platonic ain't so friendly.... it's definitely becoming more. Listen Dash could get it, because the way he had Sesali erupting (um close your kids eyes) back to back. Chile where the fan at lol.

I love a good friends to lovers story. Sesali & Dash was too cute. I loved her friendship with Akasha. Zoe bxtchass should have caught a fade like Lou. How you mad a nxgga don’t want you 😒. Also Sesali’s dads wife should have caught these hands too.

I could imagine reading a book about friendships and how society treats celebrities in the same story. Sometimes its about what you bring to the table in the form of caring that will catch a man's eye. A man is never interested in a soulmate who does not match his soul. Zoe was never a match for Dash. She wasn't even a second look. Sesali was a second, third, and fourth look for Dash. I liked Ses and Dash as friends, and even more later. Zoe was a total trip; she should have stopped when she was ahead. But she had to learn the hard way. The Vetz concerts with Dash and the crew added credibility to Dash's about his business persona. I loved everything about this story. The ankles and all... An excellent story.

Wow, this book was incredible! I devoured it in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. The witty banter between Sesali and Dash was adorable and had me laughing out loud. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster—it made me sad, happy, angry, and had me cracking up. Watching Sesali and Dash's relationship evolve from friendship to genuine love was truly heartwarming. As for Zoe, well, she can play in traffic! Overall, this was a fantastic read that delivered exactly what I needed.

Listen if you give me an urban rom com I’m going to love it real bad. Ses is definitely on my all time favorite FMCs list. Dash was too cute for words. The banter…babe THE BANTER. I highlighted and bookmarked whole pages! The Los situation has my heart hurting a lil bit, but I promise I wanted Kosh to run into Zoe in dark alley. This was EXACTLY the friends-to-lovers vibes I was in the mood for. The pacing was good, the subplot was intriguing, and the writing was so good. This is my first Ashley Nicole book and I’m about to stop playing cause I’ve got a few of her books I’ve been meaning to read.

I highlighted and bookmarked whole pages! The Los situation has my heart hurting a lil bit, but I promise I wanted Kosh to run into Zoe in dark alley. This was EXACTLY the friends-to-lovers vibes I was in the mood for. The pacing was good, the subplot was intriguing, and the writing was so good. This is my first Ashley Nicole book and I’m about to stop playing cause I’ve got a few of her books I’ve been meaning to read.

There's no book that AshleyNicole has written that I haven't devoured and loved and told everyone to read it! And I Wanna Be Down was not different!! When I was younger the idea of being in the crowd and having an artist serenade me and bring me backstage was something I day dream about with all my favorite artists as my leading man!! AshleyNicole basically brought this to life in the pages of I Wanna Be Down annnd I was here for this story line start to finish!!

I liked Ses and Dash’s story as they found love as two hard-working professionals. As a well know music artist, Dash has enjoyed the company of many women. I Need a Drink!
AshleyNicole is a master at combining humor, drama, and romance. This book delivered all three in such a good way. Dash and Sesali were so lovable independently and together. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how things would blow up with Zoe. Same for Los. It all turned out to be so juicy. I felt like this was a solid four star book because the concept of this superstar wanting to be besties felt like a reach. The final quarter of the book pushed it to a bona fide five star read. It was so emotional and filled with so much drama. The epilogue was perfect. It gave me everything that I needed.

Wow, I didn’t know what to expect because as usual, I don’t read the synopsis of my favs. AshleyNicole came to play no games with us and gave an awesome story!! I really really really like it!! It was a page turner from the start! Dash and Ses!!! Ugh. God when’s it gonna be my turn?? 😆 Great everything about this book! Just perfect!

THIS BOOK Y'ALL! It is not what I expected it to be AT ALL. Anytime I rate a book 5 stars it is based on if I would reread the book, and baybeeeehhhhhhhh! I would read this book a thousand times over and love it the same everytime. I can't say anything else besides READ IT because if I do I'm spoiling everything. You hear me? Beautifully written , this story capture my attention/ heart the first pages , & I knew I was going to love it! This story was the perfect balance of several things you didn’t realized you needed until you read this. Ashley Nicole every book that I have read from I’m always left with a soft spot .

This was a friendship to lovers romance done right. 👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 standing ovation to AshleyNicole. I loved the chemistry and banter between Dash and Sesali. I was either laughing or smiling the entire book. The progression from friends to lovers was at a believable pace and felt like the natural next step. I totally fell for these two.

I loved Dash and Sesali, but they really needed to expunge a lot of their toxic friends from their lives. Why? Because it led to jealousy, danger, betrayal and murder!

Dash & Sesali. They meet at an industry party. She’s not interested in being there so she’s chilling alone on the terrace while her 2 friends are inside mingling. They have a short conversation he’s intrigued but she’s not so he switches gears and said I like you let’s be friends, besties. She’s still not interested but let’s him know her friends will have a 3some with him tonight. Now it’s his turn to not be interested …….the way he gets her hater girlfriend to tag Sesali in the selfies of her & Dash was so smooth i cackled.
This friendship is organic even though he plotted and settled a little bit. They are comfortable with each other. They laugh with each other. They spend time together. They learn about each other. They have a natural progression of their relationship, nothing hurried. Their first kiss was unexpected for the both of them but welcomed by both of them. Besties in real life, He’s waiting on her to catch up to him with the love.
Read this book if you love a romance book with actual romance, where you are certain on when and how they fell in love. By the way they have nasty sex, the good kind.

Let's Be Friends
I mean, COME ON!!! The freaking first sentence had my insides tickling and I already knew I'd have to clear out my day to finish this one.
Sesali and Dash were so freaking great. Even with the distractions that could've heavily deterred their friendship, they were just easy going and meshed so well. I love a person with a great sense of humor, and these two were hilarious.
Sesali was too nice. Off rip, I didn't like her friend Zoe. Akashi was such a ride or die friend and I truly hope we get more on her in future books. All the drama with Zoe was childish and she got exactly what she was seeking by being bitter for absolutely no reason. Despise females, no people, like her🙄!
I did love how Sesali was rooting for Zoe even though she was being ugly to her. She held on to that friendship for way too long and I'm glad she finally let it go.
Dash was so dope. Such a kind hearted man that loved hard and worked harder. I get his loyalty to Los' mom, yet the way he held in his rage for Los should've been let out years prior. I don't like how things escalated bc as grown men, they could've just talked it out.
I love how Dash approached Sesali. He had other plans, sure, yet he made space for a genuine friendship blossom without pursuing her as his heart desired. From their bond, they built up the greatest foundation for an everlasting love and I absolutely need more on these two.
AshleyNicole doesn't miss, so I already knew she was coming with the heat and boy did she knock that all the way out the park.

I loved this! Dash and Sesali were cute together. Building a foundation of friendship with your partner is the best. AN did a great job mixing realistic themes (e.g. jealousy, insecurity, strong and weak friendships, etc.) with just enough humor, as usual!
