Flight Plan: How to Achieve More, Faster Than You Ever Dreamed Possible

Rate this book
A wise man once told me, ''Success is goals; all else is commentary.'' To achieve greatly, you need clear goals, plans, and schedules to get from wherever you are today to wherever you want to be in the future. You need a flight plan that you file before you begin and that you use to guide you on your journey. You must then have the courage to ''take off,'' to step out in faith with no guarantees of success. On your journey, you must be prepared to make continual course corrections. And especially, you must resolve in advance that you will keep going until you reach your destination. There are twelve steps you can take on your journey toward greater happiness, health, and prosperity than you have ever enjoyed before. By following these steps, you can take complete control of your life, activate all your mental powers, become the person you want to become, and increase the likelihood that you will reach your destination on schedule. Read the Book to get to know the 12 steps.

Five stars seems lofty for this book on the surface. Nothing here is new or even profound. But what Brian and Christina do in Find Your Balance Point is present time-tested methods and concepts in a concise, impactful manner. There are no fluffy anecdotes to distract from the message which allows the reader clarity, focus, and concentration on the companion exercises each chapter offers. The exercises themselves are simple to understand, but require challenging self-reflection. It's the type of book you can read in one sitting, but is useful to return to regularly as you assess and re-assess your own balance point.

In the introduction of Flight Plan, the author relays that during the course of the average flight the plane will be off course for 99% of the time. The pilots are constantly doing course corrections and adapting as needed for the conditions so that the flight will make it safely to its destination on time. It’s a sobering fact that relates well to business.

No matter how hard we try, we will find ourselves faced with challenges that need to be addressed. The longer we ignore or deny the problems, the more trouble that we make for ourselves in the end. Therefore, it is imperative that we are willing to admit our mistakes, make the appropriate course corrections, and keep our destination in focus.

Flight Plan looks at the reality of business. It’s so easy to get caught up in denial or blame when challenges arise. Yet, inevitably such things will occur. It’s far more productive to just get on with the process.

Whilst this book had some great information, it wasn't quite what I was looking for. The book was more business and career oriented, when I was looking for advice on simplifying one's material needs in order to pursue one's dreams. Some of the advice, like removing distractions to focus on the essential & clarifying one's values are transferable, however, I found the writing style quite dry.

I am seriously so excited about this book, I loved every minute reading it, highly recommend this book to everyone And I have extracted from the book some paragraphs that I like best in order to introduce this good book to the readers. You can read these interesting quotes prior to making a decision to read the whole book....!

What should I do more of, do less of, start, or stop?
KWINK (Knowing what I know now) Analysis: What seemed like a good idea at the time you made the decision, but not a good idea at the present.
70% rule: If somebody else can do a tasl 70% as weel as you, it is a task that should be delegated.
ABCDE Method: Darle prioridad a las actividades

Short, sweet and to the point, it lacks any substantial nuance but doesn't waste your time. It focuses a tad more on financial success than philosophical, but given the market audience that's not a criticism as much as an observation. It is equivalent to a 2hr YouTube video, so if you've seen long form essay on goals, nothing here will be new. Not a waste of time, but not memorable either. It does have a few snippets and quotes that I'll keep down for future use. 6.5/10
