Chemistry and I have never been friends; somehow I managed to avoid more than an occasional glance at the periodic table in high school. Now that I am homeschooling parent I want to reach a level of understanding with this detailed organizer of all things matter, which means numerous trips to library. This read is one of the more simplified elementary level books available, and it was unfortunately made harder by a lack of images to represent some of the important new information. Wanting to fully comprehend the material my daughter and I found images online or drew our own. Since I felt that was the obligation of the author to provide those visuals, this book is receiving a lower score than it would otherwise.
I used this book to supplement our 2nd grade study of the periodic table. The format is well-suited to a young reader: large print, many color photos, eye-catching captions and use of color. Really nice resource!
