Things had changed the day war came to her mountain. Now it was time to decide between the Rebel to whom she'd been promised, and the Union captain, Caleb Morgan. To choose Caleb would mean turning her back on everything that had gone before, yet how could she surrender the man who had captured her heart!
Captain Morgan was certain of only two things in life: that he hated the war, and that he loved Megan, a woman of courage and compassion who had rescued him from the cold embrace of death. Yet how could he ask her to leave behind the only life she'd ever known, and break her promise to another man?
Civil War era romance between Megyn whose betrothed went to war to fight for the South, and Caleb who was a Confederate Captain left to die on the battlefield near Megyns home. She nursed him to health and ended up falling in love with what her Papa refers to as the enemy.
This one was pretty terrible until the final fifth, where is suddenly started to flow. The language was stilted and the beginning was full of clichés. The plot hardly believable for the most part. The background of strict unaccepting religious community was pretty good. Skip this one.
Fiery hot historical novel that I've read when I was a senior in high school. A borrowed book from a classmate; and I was so smart to write the date (at the back of my own book) when I finished reading this. But can't remember much about the story. xx
Once I start reading a book I always have to finish it, but this time I just couldn't do it. I found it very hard to get into and the female lead was tooo annoying.
