Interesting history of recorded sound, from the beginning with Thomas Edison's cylinder up until 1982 (the time of the book's publication) when piracy and home taping were beginning to effect record sales. there are many lovely illustrations of popular recording artists from early stars like Enrico Caruso and nelly melba up until Kate Bush and Sheena easton.
