When the girls think that sea turtles are caught in nets, it's Emma and Rikki to the rescue. But fishermen think they've got a shark problem. Cleo thinks her dad is using wrong nets and wires, she get's mad.
Novelisation of H2O episode 1.3 "Catch of the Day" - Whilst Emma and Rikki take to their mermaid powers like fish to water, Cleo is having real trouble adjusting. As a human she always had a fear of water and couldn't swim and she's sick and tired of her friends constant delight. Even Lewis fails to cheer her up. It's only when Cleo learns that her father's fishing boats are using illegal nets and trapping endangered turtles that she has to put aside her fear and embrace her mermaid nature if she wants to help.
I like how Cleo has trouble adjusting to being a mermaid and thought this story was a really good way of bringing that across.
This really is the episode in book form with no deviation or extras - no illustrations or stills either. Being a huge fan of the series, it's nice to know the books are out there, but they don't add anything you don't get for watching the episodes.
