While researching the Arctic for a school project, ROBIN learns that something is melting the glaciers ― and it's not just global warming! With BATMAN'S help, ROBIN discovers that eco-terrorist RA'S AL GHUL is behind the polar heat wave. To prevent an environmental disaster, the DYNAMIC DUO must brave the icy tundra and stop his evil plan.
Batman novels by Super DC Heroes are clean and wholesome. I never have to worry about what my child my hear and learn when reading these novels to him, they never disappoint and I am always able to say that justice prevails through every trial that the hero must face
I am far from a climate alarmist, but still enjoyed reading this Batman chapter book about a villain trying to melt the ice caps in an attempt to destroy humankind to my kids.
In this Batman book it was really rather nice, due to the fact that "Robin" is still a teenager in school and the story 'opens' with him studing his homework. Which then leads Batman to realize an evil man is at it again to take over the world. Due to the buoys temperature in the Artic Ocean it makes it appear it's global warming but looking closer it's not. So the due go to the Artic to stop the evilness and while they are Batman quizzes Robin on things he's studing about. So, nice for a reader to not only get the Batman fighting crime and coming out on the good side in the end but a little Geography lesson in the process. My two special needs sons sat and listened to this book and enjoyed it.
Only just started it with Lucas. It is SO difficult to keep him interested and paying attention to ANY reading material. I'm so thankful to be his mom and his teacher so I can guide him through comprehension to bridge the verbal gap that he has always struggled with.
At first I thought the book would be informative for kids because it seemed to reference global warming. I didn't finish it, however, delegating readership to Raymend. It was a fourth grade level and I didn't realize it, so Luke didn't know a lot of the vocabulary and failed his little book quiz at school. Sigh.
What I didn't realize about these DC Heroes books when I ordered them is that they are full color chapter books, not comic books! What a pleasant surprise! They are easy enough that even the 1st and 2nd graders can enjoy them.
This Batman one was about what I expected. Although, I did enjoy the characters and the in text sound effects, in full color. Great additions to he library!
