Tempts him to take her, to change her and even to love her.Liv McCoy has been the weak one all her life. All she wants is a little power. When Garrett shows up she feels an unspeakable pull. Once more - Sommer hits it out of the park. Combining erotica and the supernatural, two of my favorites into one book. This was the perfect read for a cold/windy winter day in MN. I snuggled in a read it all in one day. The lead characters both have a past that prevents them from opening up to love. But the base nature of the "beast" is not to be denied and the two go through trial after trail to find happiness. What I really liked about this book was the twist that the person who was the protector/champion of this couple was a female. You rarely see a female written who is strong and sensitive and not just the partner of an alpha male- nice twist. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon of reading.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. And the lovely Sommer Marsden even signed it!

I really liked this book, it is about Garrett (a wolf shifter) and Olivia, or Liv (a human). I really liked the fact that Liv wasn't perfect, she went through a bad childhood and even an abusive relationship which she ended but Kevin still stalking her. But since I don't want to give spoilers or such, I'll just say I loved her descriptions of the change. Also when she described Garrett and Liv together and how happy they were, I could feel the happiness for the characters. The personal moments were even better! Get this and read it!

This must have been a longer story, because it felt rushed. Everything moved so fast with no thought process behind the actions or events. Liv has recently ended an abusive relationship, at least that's my assumption because it isn't stated how she got out of that relationship. Hours after her ex-boyfriend attacks her and she is rescued by Garrett, they are having sex and she wants to become like him (this is 60 pages in). Too much too fast for me.

I wasn't bowled over by the story. It wasn't the best paranormal romance I've read and it wasn't the worst. I had issues with the way Liv went from being man-wary to seducing her neighbor who she met for all of 5 seconds, after he just saved her from her abusive ex. The fast forward into romance was just oddly placed. Overall it was a decent story. Poor Kevin...talk about justice, though :).

Sommer is one of my TOP favorite authors of all time and when she writes a story... she writes a great one! Base Nature is a perfect mesh or paranormal, erotic and thrills that any fans of the genre will love. Add to it a female main character that many can relate to and you have one excellent read!

The book was good but I have to agree with the other reviewers issues. The sex was too quick with her background and clearer explanation of the pack he left. I took it that there was no alpha leader like other books in this genre. They were led by a group of "elders" and their poorly chosen enforcer.
It seemed somewhat rushed except for the erotic scenes.

I feel like I should have enjoyed this book more than I did, and I can't really explain why. For whatever reason, the story moved too slowly for all that there were some original and refreshing werewolf ideas in place and a nice romance between Garrett and Liv, it just didn't quite get me there.
