For anyone curious about prophecy and the signs of the end times, this book links the pieces of the prophecy puzzle in plain, simple language. There are 1,000 prophecies in the Bible so it’s natural to wonder, have any prophecies been fulfilled? Do they really explain the future? Can we really know what will happen at the end of time? In succinct and clear answers to most frequently asked questions, Dr. Jeremiah decodes and clarifies prophecy for the average person. He explains in simple lay terms what could otherwise be mysterious and even frightening, allowing readers to gain a balanced and assuring perspective of the significance of prophetic events to their personal lives as believers in Christ. He also helps readers understand how prophecy is directly related to world events today.
Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.
In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.
Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.
As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.
Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.
Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.
Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.
Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God
Silly immature nonsense. Christians need to engage the brain, not be sucked into this sort of fairy tale making, distraction. We Christians ourselves should read our bibles and there find NT warnings about myth making
Great book for everyone seeking information about the Rapture, Tribulation and Second Coming of Christ. Time is running out! Have you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior?
It was a good book. A short book with simple answers to many of the questions people have regarding the End Times/Tribulation/Millennial Reign/New Heavens and Earth. I think the book is probably best for those who do not know much about the topic. Very handy for those types of individuals as it does answer the question, but they won't get lost like they might in some other books. If one is looking for more depth though, they would want to get other books. So again, not a bad book, it certainly serves it's purpose. Even a believer who does know about this stuff could use it as a quick reference.
The entire book is a must read for all Christians! The author makes it easy to understand what will happen when Jesus returns which was a blessing for me. If you truly believe in Jesus, you need to read this book. If you don't believe in Jesus, you need to read this book. His writings are Bible based with scripture to back up what he says. I believe this is an excellent book to use for a Bible study class. I also believe you will want to dig deeper and study the book of Revelation and Daniel. I read this book in less than a week and plan to read it again. This is my first time reading a book by Dr. Jeremiah and it will not be the last.
Sometimes a book is like a rollercoaster - - but not in the sense that we ordinarily mean. On a rollercoaster, you just need to hop on. Once it starts, you can't get off until the ride is done. This book is like that. All you need to do is open it; the book takes it from there. David Jeremiah has obviously done his research and he knows how to present the material. Just open it and the pages will keep turning.
This book opened my eyes on truth about heaven and it gives me hope that heaven is a real Places for believers to be happy for ever with the Lord Jesus.
I really enjoyed reading it I will encourage anyone to ready ,it is very informative about the scriptures And that’s why I it 5 stars
I would love an update on this. It was published in 2010 and so much has changed in just 10 short years. But this was an interesting overview of what the Bible has to say about the second coming of Christ. Even if I don't agree with all that Jeremiah wrote, I appreciated the answers and the thoughts on some complicated concepts.
From the start to finish Dr. David Jeremiah expounds the Word of God with simplicity that even an infant may understand. He brings to light the need to be prepared for the coming of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and how the understanding of prophecy should motivate us to do just that.
I enjoyed this book immensely. The knowledge I receive from the explanation regarding prophecy was helpful. I feel I've gained an understanding about prophecy. I liked how everything was backed up with scripture. It really help me understand the scripture.
I always enjoy Dr Jeremiah's humble and honest attempt to expound the scriptures. I am satisfied with the answers he gave on a wide range of difficult questions from the scriptures.
Your top questions for what's to come are answered
David Jeremiah lays out a simple and easy to understand of what's to come. Believer's have so much to look forward to. Non-believers need to do some soul searching and hopefully come to accept Christ as their Savior.
Right before reading this book I had just finished another book on Prophesy and Revelation. That book left me confused and uninformed! This book was straightforward and precise. Easy to understand and answered a lot of questions.
This book is written in simple terms that are easily understandable. It explains difficult passages as well as distinguishing between specifict terms often misused interchangeablt. A must read for the student of end times prophecy.
This book is amazing, have questions, so did I. This book helped me to understand the Bible in a greater sense with Bible verses to reference back to. I am sure I will read this book a few more times!
Great little book that "answers" a lot of questions that are often asked. Great for new believer, young in the faith, as well as a handy reference when digging deeper on certain issues
I love reading this book. It explains in detail the many questions that I have about Christ’s return. I can’t wait to see Jesus face to face and sing in his choir!
This book has brought much clarity and information I needed to understand. This is a must-read to better understand the end times and the book of Revelation.
This compactly-published book by noted Bible teacher and end-times scholar, Dr David Jeremiah, is actually not as short as it seems in size, having 191 pages, excluding three pages of End Notes. It seeks to answer popular questions asked about eschatology. Written in Q&A format, as the blurb proports, it is for "anyone curious about signs of the end times" and "offers insights into key events that will occur before the Lord's return". The book itself is organized in eight major sections: current events, the Rapture, the Tribulation, the Antichrist, the Second Coming, the Millennium, the New Heaven and the New Earth, and, of course, a conclusion. It starts with an Introduction in which Dr Jeremiah claims to write the book "to help you understand and appreciate this topic" which is suggested to mean 'a variety of questions, concerns and even confusion in people's minds about obscure passages, distant places and unfamiliar symbols in the Bible, and how they can have significance for our lives'. It is a useful tool for Bible prophecy students or any beginner interested in the topic, written and presented in a simple, easy-to-understand way.
