I may have read this once as a kid. It's so short and so similar to things I read lots of that I'm not sure. However, I prefer this old approach which basically presents a short story stretched into book length by large print and illustrations to the more inane version of "early chapter books" which became popular subsequently. This was not boring or patronizing. I would consider reading more by this author if it were at the library.
