Attempting to conceal her “villainous” nature, a superpowered college student embarks on an unintentional road to infamy, in this sweet sequel.

Emily Wright was prepared to spend her first year on campus under the radar and out of sight, propelled by the force of her social anxiety. Fate, however, cursed her with the ability known as Sister Summoning. Revealed on Power Day—the annual event where people discover their superpowers—Emily’s new talent caused five “sisters” to suddenly pop into existence. And as if that weren’t enough, Emily found herself officially categorized as a villain.

Now known as the Boss, Emily must keep her “villainy” a secret while babysitting her supersiblings. Unpredictable and mischievous, yet devoted and helpful, the quintet menagerie of sisters—possessing the characteristics of a bear, an owl, and a trio of raccoons—will do anything to help Emily establish her Evil Empire.

Of course, Emily doesn’t want anything to do with evil, but she has a family to clothe, house, and feed. With the help of volunteer minion Sam, a psych major interested in studying Emily, the Boss takes over the local protection racket to earn some cash. With her no-evil-intent policy firmly established, Emily’s little sisters begrudgingly agree to defend the local businesses against criminals.

But word of the Boss’s gang is spreading among hero and villain alike, placing Emily squarely in the social media spotlight—and the crosshairs of some powerful enemies . . .

I'm so impressed that Fluff 2 exceeded even my extremely high expectations! This was so fantastic. Not only did we get even more adorable sister summons interactions (so many hijinks), but we got some really cool world building and theme expansions. I am incredibly intrigued by the way this book questions the system of superheroes as well as capitalism itself, and how these questions play into Emily's development as a character. Plus, so many cool super powers and a really intense battle scene at the end. Just such a fantastic book that satisfied every craving for cozy but meaningful stories!

I have a video review for the series where I talk about all the awesome things I loved in both the first and second book, so check that out if you want to hear even more about why to pick it up!

Just be careful- this one ends with no real conclusion. It's not a cliffhanger really, but definitely leaves of in a place where you'll want to read the next book.

I, admittedly, read weird books and I bounce around in what I read. This specific book here is the second book in a series by an author I've read a bunch of stuff by.

Right, so, to recap: this is a world that has a "power day" wherein people end up, or can end up having superpowers spontaneously develop within them. The powers tend to end up being labeled as Heroic or Villian (with some more gray-areaish). Well, this specific series here follows a socially anxious young woman who has just started college . . . and on the first day, gets powers. Powers that label her a villian. Because of who she is, and her personality, instead of rushing out and doing villian like stuff, she kind of tries to hide. She doesn't particularly want to be a villian, nor, if she had been labeled a hero, would she have wanted to be a hero. She just wants to be a college student who might overcome her social issues.

Right, so. This is the second book in the series: opens immediately after first book ended, or, starts slightly near the end of that book. That book ended with the mother turning up for a visit, this one starts with the mother heading towards, then arriving for a visit.

I'm being super vague, for reasons. hmms. Partially because this is a completely absurd book, and series, albeit one I liked and enjoyed reading. Most . . . all of the books by this particular author are absurd odd books, but, eh, I like reading them none-the-less. Most (I believe all but one) fall into that lit...lit..what is it? Litrpg genre. As in . . . I have no idea how to describe this genre. "LitRPG, short for literary role playing game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of computer RPGs with science-fiction and fantasy novels." So, um, that.

Right, so, a fluffy LitRPG book. Sequel, read, if you wish to try this series, first book first.

I sort of love this series. I actually had laugh out load responses three times, which rarely happens for me.

Is it a great book? No probably not, but I enjoyed it all the way through.
