The realms have united, but Rob still doesn’t have the power to defeat the Eternal.
Rob has united the realms, and now the essences have begun to mingle. For some, this means increased understanding of different powers within the lands. For others, this means their connection to power has shifted. And not all are pleased.
While planning for another attack from either the Eternal or the Netheral, Rob discovers a threat he cannot overpower. An unusual ally might be key to understanding how to use his new connection to essence, but even that isn’t enough.
When the danger comes from within his realms, Rob must unearth long buried truths, or all the essences will be lost.
Dragon Rage is book 10 in an exciting progression fantasy series!
Dragon Rage is the tenth book in the Blood of the Ancients Series by Dan Michaelson & D.K. Holmberg - it is an epic fantasy, with a coming-of-age adventure, and high-stakes heroism. We follow Rob, a young man who, unlike most of his people, is not transformed by the mystical “firewater” meant to strengthen warriors against the valley’s deadly threats. This twist sets him on a path of self-discovery, resilience, and unexpected power. The authors craft a vivid setting filled with dangerous creatures, ancient mysteries, and a tangible sense of history. The lore surrounding the “dragon forged” and the valley’s threats is original, intriguing, and quite richly detailed. Each book builds momentum, balancing action with quieter, emotional moments. The stakes escalate naturally, keeping me invested the whole way through. The series leans into familiar fantasy tropes, so seasoned readers might predict some plot threads – but they still deliver an engrossing read. Happy Reading…
The further I get in this series the more each book feels like a TV show in that each book doesn't really progress the story forward. Also each book has the same ending...he progresses/adds essence/or solves problem and then it instantly ends...like barely a paragraph after to wrap everything up.
I normally read a book in 3 days to 10 days and this took me an entire month to get through.
Overall good story, just the writing isn't to my liking.
I'll be taking a break from this series and might come back later and appreciate it more.
Congratulations to D.K. Holmberg and Dan Michaelson for this amazing series. Ibt’s extremely hard to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book!
To quote Ser Duncan the Tall (A Knight of the 7 Kingdoms), "I don't have the words." This series is not only a 'Good read'. It is my daily (guilt-free) pleasure and escape to a world vividly painted in conflict, developed in resolutions, and framed in inconceivable, vast scope.
The story has become better, more improvements, a lot of different uses for essence, and now another essence user has arrived, slowly (sometimes too slow) but surely, we are being introduced to the next progression, then another, and what is better each progress makes the characters more powerful and broadens our view on the true usage of essence.
The story flows nicely through all the books and plenty of action. 5 stars on that. However, the grammatical errors on almost every page can be quite distracting. Shame on the editor for not actually reading the book before sending to 'print'. 0 stars for that.
This one had an interesting twist to it. But, still a lot of repetitive inner dialogue to wade through. There are some editing issues still too. It is a long series. Readers who have stuck with it should not have to hear about past issues to help catch-up readers who are just starting.
I really like the story line but the typos and missed editing mistakes are extremely distracting. Also getting a bit predictable but interesting enough to where I want to finish the series.
