Talk about wrong spying wrong time 😅
X/Xavier (30) has been hired to un alive a man. He’s in the middle of spying on said man when he sees the man’s next door neighbor spying on him with binoculars. Welp, that won’t do, because he can’t leave any witnesses or loose ends😬. Guess he’ll have to un alive her as well 😳.
Katiana’s (23) a gamer and works from home. She’s doing her usual spying using binoculars when she sees a hooded man also spying on her 😬. It scares her, so she stops and resumes her normal life.
Except that weeks later, X ends up kidnapping her 😳,
And when he figures out she’s a virgin the good ol’ fashioned-finger way, he decides he’s gonna keep her 😅.
What I liked: possible spoilers
—the 🔥. This was fuuuuuull of it. I love that he’s obsessed with making her 💦. Does he edge her here and there? Yeah 🤣 but he always follows through 😅
—dub, non ish, and somnophilia 😅. Well, she doesn’t wanna be a captive 🫣, but X makes sure she enjoys her stay 😉
—praise k 🔥
—the sweetness 🫶. It might seem weird considering he’s holding her against her will, but he’s so thoughtful ❤️. He makes sure she’s not in pain and even makes her eat/take care of her needs ❤️

—the comeuppance 💅. I mean. It was graphic but 🤷🏻♀️. I don’t condone child abuse/predators
—11 inches 😳. Good lordt… please send this girl to a doctor to make sure her organs are in place 😅

—the grammar mistakes 😬. Soooo many of them 🥴. Lack of commas. Missing words. Tense shifts. The works 🥴. If I wasn’t an English teacher, maybe I’d notice it less 🫣, but I noticed it too much
—lack of contractions 😅. It’s one of those things that bothers me so much 😬. It makes it seem robotic, so I find myself making words contractions so it flows easier in my head
—I wish it was longer 😒
Overall, this was a fast, smutty read and I enjoyed it.

This was not my particular cup of tea. It had a very underdeveloped plot which came across with a lot of haphazard sex scenes. Neither X or Katiana, our leads, were detailed enough to make me feel invested in either character and it dragged, which was surprising for such a short story. Some of my criticisms are probably because this isn’t my particular subgenre, but I have read a fair amount of similar content over the years. And, unfortunately, I wouldn’t put this anywhere near the better experiences I’ve had. I saw a lot of other reviews smashing up the punctuation and grammar, which could have been fine-tuned a bit further, but none of it bothered me that much. It was mostly the content that just didn’t work for me. Fans of the submissive, dark romance type of books may have a slightly better time, but for all other readers, I would refer them to someone like Yolanda Olson instead.

Exactly what I want in dark romance
I think I've finally pinpointed what I like in the realm of dark romance. I want toxic, unhealthy obsession. The type we run away from irl.
I don't necessarily want dark sexual preferences just for the darkness of them. If they happen they need to be in the course of obtaining the girl.
Which is what this book is.

Katiana (former abused foster kid, isolated) is kidnapped by X (sexy psycho killer). He was going to kill her after taking her virginity but decides to keep her instead. Thankfully, Katiana doesn't argue much. They have brutal hot sex. They get a HEA.
A lot of people will have issue with the noncon portion, the captivity portion, or the murdering portion. If you do - get over yourself and read something else.
This one goes on my favorites list. Thanks to Kindle for recommending it.
PS. Book needs serious editing, but I overlooked that. Most dark/smutty fics don't get edited anyway.

Short novella that needed a lot of editing. Nothing too unique or original about it and super cringy. The biggest thing was that there were a lot of incomplete sentences and other typos that made it hard to stay in the story. Also not enough conflict, she sure did submit to everything too quickly to be any fun.

First off, let's talk about the writing. Sometimes it's so cringe-worthy. For example:
Now, onto the smut…..Why so short??? :<<< I needed more details, more steam, more everything! Plus, the dirty talk was givingggg. Don't leave a girl hanging like that. 💔
And can we talk about the insta-love situation? Not my cup of tea, to be honest. Like, come on, FMC, you're kidnapped and you just go with the flow? I needed a bit more resistance, a bit more fight.
But meh, it's not all bad. There were some funny moments scattered throughout the book that had me legit laughing:

One thing I did enjoy was X being a total psycho. Imma need some more of that. I wish the author had delved deeper into that side of things because it was seriously intriguing.
So, despite its flaws, I'm giving "My Dark Psycho" a solid 3 stars. I ain't mad about this book’s flaws because at the end of the day, it's a light and fast-paced read for a dark romance.

This was decent. Has grammar issues but it was ok. It had some things I like so I pushed through. This did remind me a bit of comfort food but a lighter version with a HEA.

This book was like the show You but on steroids. Xavier became obsessed with Katiana after she was caught watching him watching her apartment building. After two weeks of learning every possible detail about Katiana, Xavier takes her to his hidden home. Where he takes her from innocent to the brink of being almost as psycho as he is.

The idea behind the book was good and I think I would have liked the characters if they had been fleshed out.
Overall this book just desperately needed an editor and proof reading to reach its full potential. There were a lot of run on sentences and missing punctuation. There were also moments where words were clearly not where they were supposed to be.
I didn't want to ding this book too much on that but if you can't get past errors like that, this may not be the book for you.

The only thing worse than the story was the abysmal spelling and grammar.
If it wasn’t for knowing how short it was and how quick I would be finished, then it would have been a speedy DNF.

•It doesn't feel like it was proofread. There were quite a few typos.
• The whole conversation regarding Xavier's 🐓 was just bizarre. Actually, pretty much all of chapter 20 (Katiana's inner monologue and Xavier's "dirty talk") was weird.
• Honestly, I found most of their dirty talk cringey from their 2nd time screwing till the end.
• I kind of lost interest in the book after the whole toast situation.

OK I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump and I’ve been looking for a book to help me get out of that forever and this book definitely did that. It was quick and easy as well as fun read however there are many reasons why I’m not giving it five stars I am fine with the whole serial killer, normal person romance. That doesn’t bother me. What did bother me was the only reason he decided to keep her alive was because she was a virgin, I wish it would’ve been because they formed a greater connection or there was a pull that he couldn’t understand, but it was literally that she was a virgin, the other thing was other than some small grammatical errors her eyecolor changed in the beginning she had blue eyes and then in the middle she had brown eyes and then on the last page it mentions again that she has blue eyes so it was a little confusing and hard to picture the characters I did really like the characters I wish the book was longer, so we got to go into more details about their background however, if you wanna reading some and looking to get out of it, this will help for sure.

Our H is all of the above. We don’t really get to see WHY he’s like this, but I’m not mad at him. He doesn’t berate or hit her (other than her butt 😉) and he is very much happy with taking care of her from the beginning. Our h is a v!rg1n and is independent. She has been through a lot growing up, so trusting people doesn’t come easy for her. Rightfully so. However, she realizes that she’ll be better off if she let X take his fill and get her own pleasure out of it too. She even gets some much needed revenge on one of the adults that harmed her as a child. HEA is included as well as some non/dubcon.

This started out pretty promising! I liked the blend of professional assassin, psycho, stalker, and captive tropes. Just a few is my favorite things. ;) I also loved the twist that she is watching him too.
But it's a short one, and so rather quickly she gives into his persuasions. I would've liked a little more back and forth between them for awhile.
I also was a little disappointed that he turned good in the end. I'm weird like that though. When I read a dark romance, I kind of would rather the bad guy bringing his girl to the dark side instead of her making him a good guy. In the end, X is a complete softie who basically changes his whole psycho killer personality to be a stay at home dad, I guess? I donno, but I was disappointed by this turn of events. Boring!

Overall it was okay. A fun and sexy read. But not as well developed as it could've been if the author would've given it some more page time.

This started out pretty promising! I liked the blend of professional assassin, psycho, stalker, and captive tropes. Just a few is my favorite things. ;) I also loved the twist that she is watching him too.
But it's a short one, and so rather quickly she gives into his persuasions. I would've liked a little more back and forth between them for awhile.
I also was a little disappointed that he turned good in the end. I'm weird like that though. When I read a dark romance, I kind of would rather the bad guy bringing his girl to the dark side instead of her making him a good guy. In the end, X is a complete softie who basically changes his whole psycho killer personality to be a stay at home dad, I guess? I donno, but I was disappointed by this turn of events. Boring!

This book had potential, but, like others have already noted, it needed some proofreading and fleshing out as a whole. There were lots of times that a sentence or paragraph didn't make sense, words were misused, tenses weren't consistent, or punctuation was wrong.
Case in point:
Skip, skip, skip some more errors.
You see what I mean? There is plenty more. The author also mixes up "your" and "you're" and "who's" and "whose" a couple times... I can ignore an occasional error, but when it is happening almost every page, it takes me out of the story entirely.
P.S. I believe in the Oxford comma.

As I quietly work on picking the lock, I found an apartment to rent, paying a premium to get the keys by last night. –page 10
Making my way to the bedroom, I strip out of my ‘work’ clothes and open up my wardrobe. Pulling out a plain black t-shirt, my leather jacket and a pair of black skinny jeans. –page 14
He groans. Pushing his hand through his short brown hair. –page 16
It’s probably full of germs and that’s not just the people, but every surface. When I no longer feel her eyes on me. Glancing up, she is facing forward again. –page 19
She fascinates me. Absently pick at my popcorn while keeping my eyes on Katiana. –page 22
I hear her unlocking the door and for a few moments; I hear nothing other than the sound of her throwing the keys onto the kitchen counter. –page 23

For me, it was definitely one of my favorites so far by that author. I love good psychotic characters with a screwed morality and an obsession. And the stalker kind at that, too. So, the book was right up my alley.
Of course, it is dark. So, be aware of the triggers. It's really not all for the faint of heart. Especially, if you don't like graphical descriptions about certain unsavory themes.
There was a lot of spice involved, too. Like it is with all the author's books. By now I see a pattern and repeats of former books. The lines they say are similar either. Otherwise, this book has a lot of typos and grammatical issues, which make the read sometimes bumpy. It's not that bad, that you can't comprehend it, but it is noticeable.
Sure, it still has other problems, too. Like that, Katiana accepts everything so quickly and they settle in their new lives. But again, we can't forget it's a short story and therefore the pace is different from the usual books. So, I didn't mind it that much.
Or that the reasoning of him behind why he didn't kill her was not really great, either. And what I have noted, too, was that the author changed the description of the FMC during the book. She has blue eyes, but in the middle of the book she suddenly had dark brown eyes, and in the end she had blue eyes again. Such things shouldn't happen.
Of course, authors are no machines, and therefore they are bound to make mistakes and overlooking them. Even with a proofreader, there is no guarantee that all mistakes are found. But still, I'm sure most of them would have been easily found and corrected.
Still, I loved that book even with all the faults. That's why I gave the 5 stars.

I took off 1 star for a large number of typos, missing commas, etc.
The book was also pretty short. I liked both characters but they didn't have much time together on the page.
Definitely pay attention to the trigger warnings, there are dark parts.

Then he realizes she's a woman and not a teenage boy.
So he stalks her for a while and then kidnaps her to his home. He chains her in his basement. When she asks why he says he likes the look of her in chains.
He touches her while she is still knocked out from the drugs and finds out she's a virgin. So instead of planning to kill her he decides to keep her forever.
As a present, he kidnaps the foster parent who used to beat her as a foster child so badly that he broke her bones and she needed stitches. Hero tortures him in front of her.
Eventually he trusts her and lets her return to work part time. They get married and invite her friends.
Hero likes to talk about getting her pregnant and how her body will change after she's pregnant.

This is a new, to me, author and I regret not diving into this sooner. Never underestimate the possibility of a novella being amazing, because this is one that proves a story may be short but can still pack a punch. ***There are potential triggers, so please check TWs if you are a sensitive reader***
Katiana is a young woman who works remotely and gets her entertainment from spying on neighbors. I was intrigued with this character because she seemed to have a minor phobia of going outdoors and dealt with anxiety issues but she didn’t let it take away her fire or her kindness.
Xavier is a contract killer who focuses on his targets with a deadly precision, doesn’t give up and makes sure his existence is cleared before he moves on. When Katiana catches his attention, plans change.
I got a kick out of this quick read - seeing Xavier not stopping until he gets what he wants. He may be a psycho but he is thoughtful on how he goes about wooing Katiana, bringing out a side of her that she never thought she had. I enjoyed seeing them go from kidnapper/captive to lovers. Definitely a semi-dark sleeper hit, in my opinion that I am happy I took a chance on and I plan on reading more by this talented author.
