The war that the world had hoped to avoid has begun.
Everywhere there is chaos. Hitler’s armies now control Europe. In one fell swoop Germany has changed the face of the continent and now only the British people remain free. In Spain, Franco considers joining the conflict. In the Far East, Japan’s war on China is about to take a different turn. And Stalin’s war on Finland has met with utter defeat for the Red Army, leaving many wondering about another purge in Russia.
Now comes the next stage.
While Hitler ties together an alliance that will secure his nation’s supremacy he also prepares for a seaborne invasion of the British Isles. Japan makes a crucial decision concerning its own plans. While the war is bad enough, now there are whispers of something even worse. Rumors of camps being built where millions of people are being sent to. While entire populations fight to survive, most Americans are completely oblivious to the suffering. It’s just not their fight. But there are some who see a fight coming and are doing everything they can to get ready for one.
A very good second book of the All Out War series by Tavian Brack. Great Britain is alone and struggling. Petain in France is overthrown with the help of the SS and Laval takes over and is becoming a Nazi puppet. Spain attacks Gibraltar but is defeated. The British Navy attacks the Italian Navy in port. Goring allows Udet to fight the Battle of Britain the way it should have been done and clears southern England of the RAF. Britain puts a two division force into Spain, Franco takes his own life. Hitler oks Operation Sea Lion and the invasion of Great Britain begins. Resistance groups are popping up within Europe including a group of Germans. America begins rearming and begins helping Great Britain. Japan is getting ready to attack Russia but the Japanese Navy is not thrilled and Stalin is purging his Generals at a high rate and the Soviet Army is in turmoil. I truly hope there is another book because too many things were left hanging. Come on Tavian Brack there has to be another book
This book is well-written and semi-gripping. Having read the entire history of WW2, and followed the YouTube series currently being finished, I have mixed feelings about "alternative" history. The real story is challenging enough to read; and historical fiction with the actual events of the period is often quite enough. There are also realities, such as the Kriegsmarine's true strength after the Norway invasion, that really get in the way of the plausible as the alternative story progresses. That's the reason for the mediocre scoring I used. But it's a page-turner, I must admit.
I'm a huge fan of alternative military history and this series does not disappoint. The author's pivot point is having WW2 start a year later in 1940 with Germany being more prepared than they actually were in 1939. I highly recommend this book. I hope there is a book 3.
Interesting possibilities are discussed in these books. What if…? There were so many things that could have changed WW2, and in my opinion, these books pose a plausible change of events. There are a few grammar errors here and there, but overall a good read.
This series is getting better and better, brilliant story and can’t wait for the next book. Slotted in nicely after book one finished and is leaving us on a great cliff hangar! Just brilliant.
Editing and proofreading apps are freely available, and this author needs one. He has a great talent in making combat scenes seem overly long and full. He may have more to say in future volumes but do I care to read them?
This book is a good alternative world war 2 story about the difference Hitler being seriously injured just before the start of the war. A year more production and preparation.
The Japanese are invading Russia and China, not Hawaii. Russia was defeated by the Finns and now is purging their military. Spain tried to take Gibraltar but failed. Germany is invading England.
