I love fantasy, adventure, and magic. More than that, I adore my readers.
My books are written to entertain -- fantasy adventures filled with compelling characters, spectacular magic, thrilling action, constant intrigue, and a sense of discovery. I equate them to the "Marvel Movie" version of fiction, intended to be a fun escape.
I would love to have you join me and my quirky characters for one outrageous adventure after another. With over a million published words, my author journey has just begun.
Best wishes, Jeff

Tor Ranseur really got himself into a pickle this time, he's the world's best artifact hunter, according to him that is... and yet he makes a mistake, a huge costly mistake that unleashes an unprecedented evil into the world. He is just one of the magnificent characters who Jeff brings to life and I do mean to life. They are so diverse, so relatable and so likeable. Obviously not all of them...but even those that aren't likeable are ones you love to hate. So I've mentioned Tor already, there's more to him than just a relic hunter, he's an ex soldier with a fierce sense of loyalty to his fellow crew members, who incidentally all have a very impressive skill set. There's the giant sized Koji who's looks beguile his kindness and bleeding heart, there's Borgli, the Dwalf, who's just so comical, mostly unintentionally, and there's Quell, snarky and can't help what comes out of her mouth but a better archer one couldn't find. A mismatched crew? Oh definitely but one that stands firmly together, a new bond, a new family, who have each other's backs. And they so need to, because once again they are to set out on a dangerous task and the race is on to stop the Children of the Raven from, well, from a very neferious plan! Even when the crew is in a very precarious situation, one wrought with immense danger, there is an insertion of comic relief in their banter and antics that takes the edge off and is really well placed.
Tor, who prides himself on his skills, messes up big time, and is forced to delve deep within himself to correct his error, which leads him from puzzle to puzzle and finally to a battle to save the entire world. That final battle had me gasping, had me screeching, had me squirming, had me live out every detail and blow with Tor and his crew and I had to shout out "Yes Koji, you sweet, fierce gentle giant!" and I did the only logical thing I could, I gave Koji an imaginary high five!
I love how Jeff brings in characters we've met before, in such a smooth and seamless way, Chandan and Harley appear in the mix and I'm always delighted by these insertions. Jeff infuses just the right amount of tension to have one chewing on one's nails frantically, without the need to gnaw at the entire hand, always keeping the fun element alive and kicking, which translates into an immensely entertaining read. One can't help but get lost in his storytelling. With the incredible action, with Wizards in the mix, with an evil released from a centuries old tomb and a touch here and there of necromancy, one is hard pressed to release this book for even a minute. The excellent pacing carries one through the events as if riding the perfect wave to end up lapping at the sand, gently, smoothly, like a pebble comes to rest on a beach, basking in the sun, as I am right now with a smile on my face, having reached the end of this strikingly marvelous series.
Tor the Dungeon Crawler has been one absolutely hilarious, creature filled, battle fought, death defying, puzzle solving, relic hunting, excitement filled, thrill ride of a series! And I relished Every. Last. Brilliant. Word.
Shrine of the Undead picks up right where Castles of Legend leaves off. Tor and his gang of relic hunters really have their work cut out for them after their latest relic has been stolen by the most unlikely of characters. Now they must use every last weapon, ability, and connection in their arsenal to acquire a relic of myths and legend before utter destruction comes for them all.
This final book had it all! From Orcs, to Zombies, to Crazy Cool Wizard magic Kohanek kept me on the edge of my seat and holding my breath. There were so many twists and turns! So many secrets and even a few mistakes. And the entire Wizardom Universe was literally left teetering on the brink of complete collapse. The stakes were higher! The battles deadlier! The relics more awesome and intriguing! I can honestly say this final book left me spellbound and reeling at every twist of fate and every discovered revelation.
There are so many fantastic aspects to this series. I know that I may have said this before and I’m sure I’ll say it many times over, but Kohanek’s ability to create and develop his wide array of characters is nothing short of genius. I’ve never read another writer who could create and bring to life so many amazing, intriguing, and fleshed out characters. And Tor, Koji, Borgli, and Quell are some of his most distinct, endearing, and captivating. I love the found family aspect of this series and how every member is willing to fight and die for their comrades…their family. This series has so much heart entwined among the battles, relics, puzzles, and adventure and is honestly something I didn’t expect to discover in an Indiana Jones style story about adventuring, but it is definitely one of the aspects that really made this series come alive for me.
Another aspect I completely loved is all the different creatures and battles. The zombie element of this story was so well done. Usually when I think of zombies I think blood, gore, guts, and brains but Kohanek brought other elements to his idea of zombies that was both unique and fresh and I really enjoyed it.
So if you love a series filled with adventure and relics, treasure and creatures, battles and daring feats, puzzles and revelations, all the while still maintaining a cast of Amazing and Well developed characters who respect one another (yes their is a significant amount of sibling like jabs and snark), always have each others backs, and dare I say, love one another, then you simply MUST read Tor the Dungeon Crawler. I promise You won’t be DISAPPOINTED!
This story brings us to the end of the adventures of Tor our relic hunter and his crew, and what an ending this book is! Tor, Koji, Borgli and Quell are once again sent by the sorcerer Vanda to get back what had been stolen from them before the world was brought to its end. In the previous book they had found the relic known as the Sceptre of Vis Mortis but it had been stolen from them by the followers of the goddess who wanted to revive her to enjoy eternal life. Tor and his crew set out to find the place her body was kept at, before the children of the raven as her followers were called, as well as to find the blade of light, said to be the only thing which could kill Maeve, the necromancer who was also a false goddess. However a few mistakes take place and Tor once again messes up this quest unleashing Maeve upon the world with her army of the undead, who were on their way to Sarmak. The final battle takes place in Sarmak and I really loved the fact that it was Koji and Quell who were the true heroes during the battle, they both did their best to stop the disaster which could have wiped out their world. The descriptions of the travels in the desert are amazing and so realistic that I could feel the heat and dehydration whilst reading. These Wizardom Legends trilogies are such fun to read as Jeffrey Kohanek loves to give us banter and humour to lighten the battles against the dark and I cannot get enough of his books!
Being the final book in the Tor Ranseur series, the author managed to tickle my funny bone in two ways. Tor and his companions depart to find a hidden, lost city Mystakka where a glass sword supposedly awaits discovery. Mystakka? Why does that look and sound like a variation of "Big Mistake". Now why would Tor and crew go there? Vanda so decreed when Tor managed to "loose" a specific staff belonging to a very much dead female necromancer of two or so millennia ago. Except this necromancer is mentioned in a prophecy that mentions her being brought back to life again. She will go on a mission to turn all life into an army of dead followers, in the process becoming an evil undead goddess. There is one thing can turn this cataclysmic event away and that is a glass sword. And that staff that Tor "lost" is central to make this happen. It is indeed close on to the purple colour her undead zombies bear in their eyes. This undead goddess goes by the name of Maeve. But that seems close to another word, viz. mauve. Funny that, even though Maeve's staff shoots a dark violet light. However, Shrine of the Undead is still a very much an immersive epic adventure that will enjoy much acclaim for the action and suspenseful plot we became used to from this author...rightfully so. Enjoy.
A lost city, magical relics, cults, mystery, suspense and humor, what more can you ask for? I was drawn immediately in to this fast paced easy to read book with twists and turns that I loved. A true epic adventure by Jeff Kohanek who just happens to write brilliant and exciting adventure stories. Tor and his comrades are on the hunt for an ancient relic that could resurrect the Queen of the Undead. They must find it before her cult does! I enjoyed the fast pace, the charismatic characters, camaraderie, humor, monsters. The danger around every turn that the group must face to outsmart the cult. And the final battle is a game changer!!! This book is a great conclusion to this amazing trilogy. . . .
I really wish you could do quarter or at least half star reviews as this was more like 3.5 for me.
While not as good as Book 1 it was better than Book 2, however not by much. It was slow to start, got better in the last third, and then the conclusion felt a little clunky and abrupt.
Also, the excessive fart jokes were a bit juvenile. One or two would be fine, but it felt like every couple of chapters there was an "at least it's not as bad as Borgli's farts!" comment being made.
The last book in the Tor the Dungeon Crawler series was amazing! Tor and his crew go up against all odds to prevent a cult changing the world forever. The story is incredibly well written and moves along at a quick pace with lots of twist and turns. Despite the darkness of evil there is humour and friendship while fighting against the dark creatures. A wonderful end to the series.
Banged it out of the park again. Please read and review !. Need more people to beg for more in this series?. Think it would be ace if in a couple more books he schools the main caricature of the wizardom books ??. He was only in book two for a very small scene. Plus need to see what happens with Harley .
What a wonderful ending to the trilogy! Tor and his crew have some amazing adventures while questing for the artifacts needed to defeat Maeve. A thrilling fight scene follows, but I will give no spoilers!
This is one brilliant storyline, full of great action scenes with their on going quests for ancient artifacts and treasures ends this trilogy with fortune and sorrow. I absolutely recommend this book.
Very good. The quests Tor and company have been on in the previous books lead o the spectacular conclusion in this last book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the books.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
This latest trilogy has been my favorite of Jeff's books. And the finale was no exception. After possibly dooming the world (but only accidentally) in the previous book, Tor and his companions set off on a race to recover an ancient weapon, steal back a different ancient weapon, and stop an ancient being from coopting a wizard lord's power. Lots of ancient stuff. Probably why it's one of my favorites.
I did edit this book, so that's a thing. But I also highly recommend it to all the Indiana Jones and Jeffrey L. Kohanek fans.
