Linda Ford grew up devouring books and making up stories in her head—often late at night when she couldn't sleep. But she hadn't planned to write. Instead, she dreamed of running an orphanage. In a way, that dream came true. She married, had four homemade children, adopted ten and lived (at times, endured) the dream.

Writing first took her to non-fiction human-interest articles for newspapers and eventually a non-fiction book about tuberculosis set in the 1930s and 1940s (Touched By The White Plague). But romance had always been her first love and she turned to writing love stories. She is multi-published in the CBA market.

She lives on a small ranch in Alberta, Canada, where she can see the mountains every day. She and her husband continue to enjoy their children and grandchildren.

Book one was really good. It was called Mail Order Bride Mommy. I loved it so much I immediately got the next one. This one was better so I'm starting book 3 now. I'll be up too late again

Challenge Prompt: CNL’s #27 of 50 - “that contains Bible verses”

Book #2 of 2024: I enjoyed the first book in this series so I wanted to continue on. This is the second book of the Montana Mail-Order Brides series.

I really like Honor and understand her need for a family after all she’s been through in her life. She’s the kind of woman Luke needs . She has spunk and courage. I look forward to learning more about her journey to read and write, how Kit adjusts, and other children in the coming books in the series.

NOTE: Whomever designed the cover missed something pretty obvious. The story tells us repeatedly that she has a lot of freckles. The woman on the cover appears to have none.

I’m so mad at this book. It had so much potential! Why do books do this to me?!

First of all, Luke annoyed the shit out of me. He’s constantly comparing Honor to Gwen. Constantly thinking how she’s second best compared to her but acting differently like he had forgiven her and giving hope to the girl. Like ok she lied, understandable but she made up for it by working hard and doing everything else. And everything that he did felt like he was trying to one up his brother because he couldn’t have Gwen. His actions and words were contradictory. He pretty much treated her like everyone else treated him, which is second-best and constantly comparing her to Gwen. He even admits he treated her like her uncle did, which he does—only to continue thinking that same way. It was honestly so disgusting.

Secondly, the adopting plot line was SO weird. They were still in a rocky part of their marriage and they didn’t even know each other well and they just decided to adopt a random kid? Uhhhh okay, I wonder who that reminds me of ahem (brother who also has an adopted child) ahem, so kind of feels like he’s trying desperately to create a ‘family’ like his brother’s because he couldn’t have that one himself. I wish the author didn’t go this route cos it just reiterated the fact that Luke isn’t over his insecurities and his hopes for a ‘better’ wife and how Honor can literally never meet those standards. No matter what he says, I’ll never believe it either because he has not proven himself a changed man or a loving man because of Honor, but because he’s forcing himself to settle and ‘work with what he’s got’ which, by the way, is what he literally thinks to himself. How can that man possibly fall for Honor and expect me, as the reader, to believe it?

Hated that plot line, and hated Luke’s character. Overall, an awful book. The only saving grace was Honor, I really liked her and understood her plight. Sadly, she was stuck with the wrong brother, after all. I feel like she would have been a better match for Riley or Wally. They would have appreciated her more than someone who didn’t want her but had to accept her because he felt forced. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

Beautiful series not to be missed...

This series has beautiful moments and encompasses a strong and loving family. Each story is about one of the brothers meeting the woman that God has intended, by being a Mail-Order bride. The stories are well written, perfectly paced with strong characters and storylines interspersed with Scripture and prayers. Meet Luke Shannon who is always trying to one-up or at least stay even with his twin brother Matt. He just married Honor, who is almost as good as his new sister-in-law, Gwen. It's the "almost" part that he can't get over, thinking he always has to settle for 2nd best, like he feels he is... Can Luke learn to accept Honor for herself, just the way she is? Will Honor ever feel like she is enough for Luke. With God's help, all things are possible and many surprises are in store for them ahead.

Luke and Honor

She lied about being educated and he takes it very poorly when he finds out. I cried a bunch for her because of how unwanted she always was and then for him to reject her was so sad. He was so sweet at first saying he’d tell her he was grateful for her every day… then poof she lied and he’s mad his brother has a “perfect”wife and he got Honor…

He ends up trying to put distance between them by going up into the mountain shack to wrangle cows for months - only he doesn’t expect her to join him. She isn’t going to let him walk away. He eventually thaws and comes to realize he was wrong treating her so poorly.

A guy visits with a little orphaned boy and ends up leaving the boy with them because he needs a mom and dad… so they end up adopting him.

Mail-Order Bride Surprise

This was a story that had some tender feelings that needed to be delt with. Growing up taking care of the Aunt who should of taken care of her, then taking care of herself after her Aunt passed, made for a lonely life. Honor knew she needed to find a home and someone to take care of our it would be a very lonely like.
Luke wanted a mail-order Bride that is exactly like his twin brother's bride. What he got was Honor. She wasn't what he was expecting and once he found out she had hidden a truth about herself, he wasn't sure he wanted her.
Will these two be able to find common ground and make their marriage work?

Bumpy road to bliss

Luke Shannon writes for a mail order bride and a surprise--a freckle faced, uneducatedimposter instead of the refined clone of his sister-in-law that he had hoped for. When he storms off to live in the line shack, Honor follows him in spite of his cruel treatment. She is determined to make the marriage work. Then a mountain man stops by the line shack and dumps a half starved little boy on their doorstep. How can they resolve their differences with a six year old child ever present? An excellent storyline will pull it all together. Recommend!

Christian Western Romance

I read book 1 in the Montana Mail Order Brides series. And i Loved it, but there was a secondary character named Luke and i really enjoyed what i learned about him. As soon as i finished book 1, i read the intro to book 2 and ordered it immediately since Luke was the one of the main characters. He will marry his bride Honor and start thier lives together. Lots of Surprises for sure. Great series. PS. Honor is an Amazing person, and exactly what Luke needed.

This second book in the Mail-Order Bride (Montana) series follows a similar vein (no surprise a it is a family of four brothers seeking brides). As with the first book, this one also is not filled with anger and angst and blame (though there is a bit). Ms. Ford brings two personalities together both with expectations not perfectly met. Luke and Honor truly want this marriage yet struggle with understanding what each needs or wants. Much soul searching but strength renewed with their reliance on God (sprinkled throughout).

Loved it!

I enjoy seeing personal growth in characters throughout the course of a novel. I was not disappointed in this one. Even though the main characters had reason to be angry at each other, they had made a vow and worked to see the positive things about their new spouse. They looked at themselves and didn’t deny their shortcomings but worked together to make their marriage work. I enjoyed watching them do so.

good story of forgiveness and acceptance!

I truly enjoyed this novel. and though it’s short and sweet it deals with deep subjects like accepting yourself and others for who they are, of expectations and heartbreaks, of falsehoods and its consequences. I like how Linda points to God and His pleasure in His creation, especially people, and how we should love how He has made us because He made everything good.

Matt was pleased with his mail-order bride so Luke decided to contact the ladies who had helped him
He told them what he wanted and waited to hear from them. He and Honor exchanged several letters and she decided to go west on the train and marry the rancher.
Slight problem: she was hiding a little of the truth and had to be really careful lest he find out the truth.
Great story in this really good series.

I enjoyed the book! The book is a clean wholesome book (which is the kind of book I like to read!). This the story of Luke and Honor. It’s the second book in the series but you can read it standalone. Luke feels betrayed by Honor but through his Christian faith, he is able to forgive her. There is an unexpected happening near the end. I highly recommend reading this book!

This is a sweet and heartwarming story yet one of betrayal, lies, and deception which are overcome by faith, forgiveness and love. This is Honor and Luke's story, and the character development is outstanding. Be sure and grab a copy of this Book #2 in the Montana Mail Order Brides series; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

This was an exceptionally sweet book!

A wonderful story about a young girl named Honor and her very troubled childhood that led to her becoming a Mail Order Bride and more difficulties beginning her new life out West. However the story takes a surprising twist and her life becomes happier by the day…read it and see why!

Luke, Honor and Kit

This is a sweet mail order bride tale of a twin that never quite felt a good as, an orphan that never felt as good as and a young orphan child that had no one. You will enjoy discovering all the exciting and sometimes disappointments that lead them to their happily ever after.

very nice read

This was a very nice read by Linda Ford. She has written it very well. For a girl with nothing to a mail order bride is a dream come true. Until you need to tell the truth, you can not read or write and that a friend wrote the letters to her husband. What was he to do as he wanted an educated wife? An enjoyable read and out come.

I actually really liked the first book but this seemed like a copy of the first. The characters did the same things and even said the same things. In the first and second book both couples ended up with a child that was not their own. It just too much copy & paste for me but I do recommend reading the first book.

Mail order Bride Surprise

This was a great story. Honor was the bride for Luke. He was a twin to Matt. Their start for romance was good but Luke started noticing certain things that didn’t make sense.

oh to be loved and cared for.

I loved the part when Luke remember his mother told him love is sacrificing yourself for someone else’s needs. And sometimes that means giving up something you intended for yourself.

Luke's Honor

Luke has ideas of his perfect mail order bride and she would be just like his sister-in-law only Honor is not a copy of anyone. Honor has endured more than she should have and seeks a true home and place she can feel she belongs.

Interesting

The reason for Luke rejecting Honor was silly. Because she lied about being educated was silly to me. Besides being able to read and write, how educated was he. Not a good story line.

Sweet story

Loving this series. Luke is upset when he discovers Honor isn't the woman she claimed to be. Can they get past the deception to find their true hearts, and what really matters?

This book was not quite as enjoyable as the first in this series for me because I felt that Olivia’s expectations for Luke to immediately forgive & overlook her deception unrealistic. I also thought there was a big change in the character of Luke from the first book to this one.

Love Can Fix Problems

Being different isn't a bad thing. One needs to discover if they want to be themselves or someone else. Trying to be someone else doesn't get the attention for yourself. It can stop the feelings others have for the true you.

Sweet and Heart Wrenching Read

Linda Ford developed deep complex characters so well I felt their pain and joys deeply. Though the storyline had many twists and turns there was a simplicity and depth that touched my heart.
