Absolutely Brilliant

It's now close to midday, approximately 20 hours since I started to read this box set which I could not pull myself away from home except for snacks and sufficient caffeine hits to enable my eyes to have some remnant of focus left to keep reading until the end.

Escaping Gravity

I liked the main character, Dillon Mackey right from the start. But eventually came to the conclusion that I wasn't actually in the right audience for this coming-of-age story... To me it was too info dumpy, and the action didn't take me to the edge... I never really believed that Dillon was ever in danger, or any of the other characters for that matter. Which in turn spoiled the big finish...
The book wasn't bad for the tale it tells, but as I said, I wasn't in the right audience.

"We are not running we are simply getting out of the way."

A Glimpse Beyond

I was really hoping that a Glimpse beyond would be better. That the info dumpy spots would be gone and they were. But for me the story simply doesn't have the spark it takes to ignite it.
But I still like Dillon and Ryan Kennard Burke is pleasant enough to listen too. And since I have the boxed set I'll prolly go ahead and finish the series, by reading A Clash of Empires.

A Clash of Empires

I felt that the love story kinda domineered this Scifi novel, and series. And even though it's touching, like ummmm I'm glad Dillon and Sherisza got together, but I had hoped for more Scifi in this book! And yeah my Scifi doesn't have to have hard science, I'm good with flim flam too. Anyway the book has a nice satisfying resolution.

Wonderful SiFi Romance

I was not expecting such a wonderfully written science fiction romance. This series follows the adventures of a nineteen year old human boy who becomes apprenticed to the last of her kind female Kiandarian, an alien species of cat-like people. For those of you who are familiar with the Star Trek animated series, the description of her seemed to match the character of Lt. M'Ress. The character is described as a humanoid bipedal lioness with golden eyes. They have many adventures, several involve avoiding the people who annihilated the entire population of her planet and are now trying to kill her to finish the job. Eventually they fall in love and become mated. Just like many species in Star Trek, they are compatible for children. For those of you who are sensitive to such things, there are many references to making love, however there are no graphic descriptions. The reference would be, they made love or they had sex, but no description.
This series had the most heart warming story I have read in a very long time. That said, there was a whole lot of action. Lots of space battles and diplomatic intrigue.
Great series and I highly recommend it.

Imaginative and entertaining!

A definite change of pace to the typical sci-fi tales seemingly tossed out for perusal. This appears, at first read, to emulate some star trek episodes with morality plays and impossible ingenuity to further and/or finish a plot line but there's a bit of southern fried wholesomeness to that picture which isn't necessary yet lends itself towards a smoother and perhaps a more complete tale.
I found it enjoyable enough to read through the entire set in one sitting. I recommended it to my ex, a staunch Feist fan, as I believe there are many similarities between the Masters of Glass and this offering.
So, pull up a chair, put your favorite drink on the stove, settle in your chair and enjoy! It'll be a nice break...

Seriously cringey. The writing is not bad and the worldbuilding - with various spacefaring alien races and intergalactic politics - is decent enough. But I have no idea who the main characters are supposed to appeal to. The teenager at the heart of the story is just repulsive. Equal parts puritanical and prurient with a pompous religiosity that would be tedious enough but add crass, clueless and smug.

This is what space opera should be!

I could not put this down. What a thrilling adventure. J. D. Sullivan knows how to catch and keep your interest. The characters were well rounded, deeply imagined and delightful to get to know. The love story was so satisfying! The various civilizations were deftly rendered. I was sorry for the story to end.

Wonderful heartwarming & captivating

I had no idea what to expect based on the brief description of this epic adventure, when I started reading. Ultimately, I fell in love with the characters, and was swept up in their adventures, struggles, and achievements. I especially enjoyed the love of family, their interactions, and their spirit that spanned space and time.

Critically Endangered Space Opera

There were some gramatical errors. The story was very interesting. Some of the choices I felt were questionable, but it is the author's choice. For a critically endangered species, I thought the choice to mate outside of the species was irresponsible. Liberty of the imagination I suppose.

Interesting

Different from the type of sci-fi that I normally read. I had to scan a lot of it... But if all his books are like this one, this may be the last one I read. He spent a lot of words communicating relationships and feelings. 😊

Fun story

This was a fun adventure. Great characters, good storyline, intrigue & adventure, and some good humor spashed in as well.. I really enjoyed the series. A touch racy in a few spots but very little and decently done. Good read overall .

Decent yarn.

Good day flowing story with interesting characters. Only let down by every new alien being compared to earth species.
All in, I enjoyed the read and would choose to read more from this author.

Meh

The religion stuff was way too much as well as the cheesy romance crap....could not even finish. For me that is unusual. Sorry but I wouldn't recommend this series.

breath taking

Great read, just enough action and a great non stop storyline. A must read for all. Don’t miss this one.

I suffered through the entire three books hoping that something (besides hot sex between two species) would actually happen. I was disappointed.

Good story

The story, pace and reasearch are top notch. Could just be me, but it gets overly mushy sometimes.

Otherwise it's a great book. Well worth the time it took to read.

I found that the series seemed like a nominee for the Hallmark Channel. Some possible interesting 'people' that would be worth developing and the technology could be enhanced.

This romance series is set in a sci-fi backdrop. It was written by your nominally christian surprisingly salacious furry loving grandmother! Seriously the version of christianity that is pervasive in the series will piss off the pentecostals by being too unitarian, and everybody else by being too pentecostal... The storyline is predictable, which is ok, but then the same details are repeated far too many times. The aliens are all just humans except for appearance and when they are different, human way is best. Earth is ruled from washington dc and the nationalism is readily apparent. Also JD needs to review the definition of genocide... there was no *almost* about it.
