For those of you who don't know, DC actually stands for 'Detective Comics.' Batman was mostly meant to be a detective, who also happened to fight off an occational bad guy.
These collections of stories truly reflect a deeper and more meaningful Bruce Wayne/Batman in a novel form, instead of the comic form. In these stories, we see Batman solving puzzles, balancing his two lives, and digging deep to see how much he is willing to give for the people of Gotham.
There are also the villians we know, such as the Joker, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, etc., and mentions of Babs and Jason (my bbys who didn't deserve their fate fiGHT ME). (Unfortunately, Vicki Vale is also prominent in a few stories. I don't have time for that blonde golddigger.)
