The Voices of the Trees

Trees teach us to be more caring and collaborative with our environment through six different stories developed in different countries within the Americas in different contexts such as a plaza, a park, a school, a museum, and a nature reserve. Co-authors Fernando Reimers and Elisa Guerra are members of the International High Commission for the Futures of Education, and co-authors of the global report "Reimagining our Futures A New Social Contract for Education", by UNESCO. This book will help children discover different relevant aspects of global citizenship, a theme that has been recognized as a priority for the curricula of a new educational paradigm. Among these aspects, they will find topics focused * The celebration and integration of diversity; * Social solidarity with the less fortunate; * Empathy with others who are different from us; * Responsibility for planetary sustainability; * and the validation of feelings of vulnerability and hope.

About the author

Elisa Guerra fue nombrada “Mejor Educadora de América Latina y el Caribe”, por el Banco Interamericano para el Desarrollo, en 2015 y fue finalista al Global Teacher Prize -considerado el Nobel de la docencia- en 2015 y 2016. Recibió el nombramiento de la UNESCO para integrar la Alta Comisión Internacional para los “Futuros de la Educación.”

Elisa es Maestra en Estudios Especializados de Educación por la Universidad de Harvard. Es licenciada en educación preescolar y tiene otra maestría en educación por el Tecnológico de Monterrey, México.

Es autora o coautora de más de 25 libros de texto, infantiles y educativos, y
ha presentado conferencias inglés y español en 17 países del mundo. Elisa es fundadora de la red de Colegios “Valle de Filadelfia”, con presencia en 5 países de Latinoamérica.

En 2017 la televisora “Al Jazeera” (Medio Oriente) realizó un documental sobre Elisa, reconociendo su propuesta como una de las seis innovaciones educativas más importantes a nivel mundial.
