The author, drawing from her own experiences, seeks to encourage readers to find the true purpose of their lives, to courageously pursue their dreams, and above all, to be the best that they can be. As a motivational speaker, she believes in a unique approach and a refreshing perspective. Her positivity, upbeat attitude and undying spirit have made her one of the most sought-after motivational speakers in the country. Her areas of expertise are corporate training, leadership, motivation, team-building, and personal breakthrough Priya Kumar specializes in Fire Walking. She got her fire-walk certification from Sundoor, and went on to assist Fire Walk instructors across the world, before she introduced Fire Walking as a part of her Motivational Speaking agenda.
She has found that walking on fire is a great tool for transforming beliefs, and instilling in people a renewed confidence, about handling challenges. It challenges past beliefs, where the person has learnt that fire burns and now takes it head on, and walks on it, without as much as a sting.
The book is the journey of the author, Priya Kumar, who many years ago went to Netherlands to find her true meaning and purpose of life. Going to Netherlands she participates in few rituals conducted by shamans.
Each chapter in the book talks about each ritual she has participated in those 7 days. My favorite of all is the spiritual walk. After each chapter ends she has beautifully written few lessons we should take from her experience.
Each chapter, as in each ritual when conducted and during the start feels like a little bit weird but when completed and the way Priya Kumar has described her experience and what she felt makes us also feel to go through the same and feel life to it's fullest.
Each of these lessons described in the book can be applied professionally and personally by each individual to achieve a better life. In the end the author talks about how these 7 days has changed her life and ever since 2004 she has been living a completely new life.
I love that she has inculcated these lessons somewhere in her corporate trainings as well. Would really love to learn more about the incredible work she is doing, being from a industrial psychology background myself I realise that to read this book we truly need to completely indulge ourselves into the spiritual world and imagine at every step of the way about the scenario.
It is one of those books that changed my life for good.
I wanted to build an identity when I was reading this book.
I knew one thing that reading books only would put an end to this seeking, so I read one book after another.
When I read I AM ANOTHER YOU I was astonished that great lessons of life have been taught through a simple yet an amazing story.
I had got a faint view of my path and started writing my first novel.
As I began writing I realized that how beautiful this process of writing is! Writing a story was a challenging task but I had learnt from the book that challenges are important to life.
You get a platform to express your thoughts and emotions when you write something. Whatever ideas you have regarding life, business, love, self-care and many other aspects comes on the paper (or Microsoft word)
PRIYA KUMAR is one those authors who writes to inspire people to live their greatest life. I AM ANOTHER YOU is her first and one of her one dozen novels that she has written.
One good thing that Priya Kumar’s books do to you is it gives wings to your imagination. You start thinking out of the box and when you pen down those unbelievable thoughts you get that adrenaline rush.
Below are few life lessons from the book that are still with me after 8 years of reading it. * You create your own storms and your own sunshine. * If you don’t like the direction you are headed in, you can always make a turn. * You should not see your reality through someone else’s eyes. * To escape is mass reality but to stand your ground takes character. * You will never know everything. Knowledge will unfold itself when you move forward.
Thanks to Priya Kumar for writing this amazing book that helped me in finding my true calling.
I AM ANOTHER YOU by PRIYA KUMAR Sometime back on way to Bangalore, I realised that I have left the book I was reading at home. A ‘no book’ situation on flights and travel creates a deep craving for another book. And that’s how I picked up ‘I AM ANOTHER YOU’ by Priya Kumar. I have head of her motivational sessions and fire walking – but I had never personally heard or read her.
I am fortunate to come across this book by us. It’s simple, straight and too the point. Like always there are some obvious statements and some that resonate deep down. I I was lucky to have picked this book on way to Bangalore. And reading it has added another ‘to do’ in my list- attend a Priya Kumar Session and the FIRE WALK.
May be I was destined to read it. There are points where I could relate to her experience and her surroundings. I will not describe and explain the - SWEAT LODGE, FIRE WALK, SALT CLEANSING, SPRITUAL WALK that Priya covers in the book- while trying to reinvent and rediscover herself in Netherland. The processes are never important as varied one are followed across the globe. The intent and the purity of the objective along with the right environment and a teacher is all it takes.
She takes you through the rituals with a ringside best seats and opens transparently the turmoil and waves of emotions, apprehension, conviction and self negation that guides her through them. I like the simplicity with which she narrates each of the ritual and provides you with a sharp bulleted executive summary of learning’s at the end of the chapters. Just ignore these. Ignore the greed to just referring to these synopsis- as you would miss on the reality unfolding inside.
It does lives to the promise of awakening you to your best- and its finally on you to see how long the impact lasts on you. After all what finally gets imprinted is always about the pupil and never about the master.
GO AHEAD JOIN PRIYA IN HER JOURNEY AND READ THIS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BOOK.

I AM ANOTHER YOU is a story of breakthroughs. Powerful, Life changing breakthroughs !!
You start this journey with the author, years ago, trying to escape from a world that did not feel right. You travel with her in this magical journey to the Netherlands where she learns the greatest lessons of her life by taking part in some amazing processes in the tradition of the ancient spiritual masters and healders who help her realize that the only place where wrong is ‘rightened’ is within. There is nothing wrong with the world outside if we sort out the world inside.
There are some stories that everyone relates to, because they involve you through thoughts and feelings that are universal. This is such a story. A life purpose for example, is something each of us is looking for. A desire to achieve more from life and live at a higher self, is something everyone wants. A spiritual inclination to seek deeper, beyond material fulfillment, each of us pursues sooner or later. There are numerous places in the book where you find yourself stopping, drawing parallels to your own life and finding answers. In an honest narrative, extracted from real life experience ,the book takes you through struggle, overcoming and victory over self. The book deals with breakthroughs that can be used by anyone to achieve personal success in the true sense of the word.
I picked up this book for its title which is intriguing. This is my first book from the author and she has left me awestruck. The language is lucid and flawless. Narration is good.
What I liked? The detailed description of the characters and places is commendable. I like the way in which the author takes the reader on a journey of self discovery and realization. The summary after every chapter is informative.
What didn't go well with me? Though I liked the book somewhere I felt that the chapter salt cleanse was not digestible.
My verdict A good book that is thought provoking and awakens one's consciousness
So, about this book. like other books by her, this book also focuses on one of the human kinds of main and basic problems no wonder its name is “I am another you” so this time the author has come up with the realization and improvement of our inner self. So there is not much to speak about this book because the self-help book does don’t much to say and I just don’t want to revile how the story goes why, umm if I will tell everything what will you left with reading.
Well if you say how was the book according to me? It was as always super good read the book was a good experience. It had a lot to teach you about and writing style is as always great.
I hardly prefer non fictional read but after reading few of Priya Kumar's works, my attitude towards motivational books changed. Maybe because of the words that truly inspire us to move forward or the experience she share with us. I have read most of her works and the correct word to describe her is magical. She is one of the best motivational writer.
This book is a total package of success, failure, goals, purpose of life and much more. She is travelling to Netherlands inorder to attend a ritual. Her experience during the journey will tie you up with the book.
Things I loved in this book. 🍁 Title is amazing and the cover is too beautiful.
🍁 I am hardly aware about many rituals, such she has beautiful explained through her book. I loved those.
🍁 She is basically one of the best motivational writer, and her writing style is amazing. That's the biggest reason behind me choosing the book.
This book is a journey to powerful, personal transformation. You start this journey with Priya, the author, many years ago, trying to escape from a world that did not feel right. You travel with her to the Netherlands, where she participates in some amazing processes with Natives who help her realize that the place where wrong is within.
Few thoughts from book: There is nothing wrong with the outside world if we sort out the world inside. Every individual’s search for a higher purpose in life is revealed when you truly think about who you are. The judgment of good or bad and right or wrong does not exist. The only thing exists – acceptance or denial. You cannot solve problems from the same place that you created them. You need a neutral ground to find a solution
This book is very close to my heart. It is simple to read and motivating one.
This book is spiritual and motivational. I am not a fan of self-help books but this book is a bit different in terms of narration. The author literally talks to the reader. It is all about eliminating your past bad experiences, scared memories, distractions, and the sense of materialism. The book spread positivity and the path towards glory and learning from your experiences on the way of life. The author urges to be motivated towards the journey and focus on the good parts rather than cultivating negativity. The author went to Netherlands and spent the month with the people of indigenous origin. She seeks spiritual freedom and hence participates in a ritual with some natives. The book has a very powerful narration and each chapter is an experience. Overall, the book is about overcoming failures.
I am another You is a beautiful story of self realization and spirituality taking place in Netherlands under the guidance of the Shamans. Through this book we come across common Realizations in the most inspiring way. The author gives a beautiful account of her spiritual journey in the book that teaches you all about the hardships of life.
I would recommend this book to those seeking answers, after all, we are the master of our lives.
Rating 2 since the messages and lessons given at the end of each chapter are very logical and beautiful. Otherwise, got a feeling that Priya is marketing herself in the book so as to attract people to her sessions and lectures which in turn help her achieve the materialistic desires of making billions as she has admitted in the book!
Name of the book : I Am Another You Name of the author : Priya Kumar
I am another you is a inspirational self mastery book by the author Priya Kumar. I have previously read Priya's book and to be honest it is worth the time. This book depicts that no matter how hard obstacles we come across we can overcome that easily with proper understanding of the situation. The book deals with the spiritual journey of the author during her visit to Netherlands. Author have exquisitively shared her in depth experience and learning of how she prevailed her fears of attracting more negativity in her life. Accepting of what we are and working on our insecurities is what will take us to heal to maximum. One could relate every single lesson which author have shared with us. Healing comes from within our own soul and failures teachers to be calm. If universe is taking and something important from our life we must trust the process in receiving much more and not settling for anything less. This book is not a typical motivational one but an eye opening and how to deal with self doubt like a pro and importance of healing for self growth. The language is lucid and easy to understand. Highly recommended for those who want a shift in their life.
Certainly everyone feels shattered at some point in their lives. I AM ANOTHER YOU is a motivational book that describes the author's experiences, learnings and healing when she felt completely devastated. The book showcases her spiritual evolution through the teaching of the preceptor 'Kahuna' of 'Shaman tribe' in Netherlands. The plus factors of the book include: - The commendable writing style. The book does not contain sermon-like monologues, instead it's written in more of a dialogue style (full of self exploring questions). - The book started with 'THE END' but summed up with 'THE BEGINNING'. - The inspirational characters such as Mary, Martin, Rudd adds up to the truth realization apart from Kahuna. - The best part about the rituals (sweat lodge, salt cleanse, drummer's edge etc) are that they talk about salvation and spirituality on a very practical and materialistic ground. The book will certainly instill optimism and liberation and if highly recommended for the people busy in rat-race.
Sometimes it's necessary to change the surrounding to regain your strength.
This is journey of self realization. This is a journey of Priya, the author, who is trying to escape from world that did not feel right. She went Netherlands & spent to a month living with the natives along with fourth generation shamans. She participates in rituals for spiritual freedom there. In this book she shared her struggle, overcoming & victory which she came across during each ritual.
Narration is so powerful. In every situation I found myself in the place of Priya. I feel every ritual. I feel as I have done spiritual walk, fire walk with her, her friends became my friends. I travelled Netherlands through her eyes. Amazing experience.
Main lesson to be learn from this book : We always hesitate to take first step, 'what other will think about me?' this feeling is the main reason behind our failure. This book urge us to take that path we always knew was right but never had the courage to follow. Always remember that Your destiny is your path, you don't wait for others to step up first.
My favourite lines : If you have desire to get success, just look around, the lessons can be found right where you are , you don't need to visit the shamans or take an escapist.
Overall book is very useful for those who are depressed , who wants to restart their life, who wants to overcomes the failures, who wants to search better self.
I have been always fond of Priya Kumar books, and the reason behind this is her impeccable writing style and diversity of topics she would choose for each published book. This book was picked because of it's unique title, I felt instant connection and my call was to pick it for my next read. As soon as I started reading it, it's title seems more in-depth and I realised the importance of inner peace. The book is journey of a person who heals herself and finds true meaning of serenity. We often run for something we haven't seen before, it could be wealth, success or family but even after getting this we don't get the feeling of tranquility. The author drafts a journey of a peace-seeker who transcend to a path of finding it's true meaning. The book was a slow and meaningful read. You would get tons of insights from it and this would help you shape your own path. I realised that calmness in this rat race is seldom and we are distressed with something. This is an essential read for people of this era who have been busy in finding something blurry ahead.
"I Am Another You" by Priya Kumar is a story that will take you on a unique and introspective journey.
_*"I never understood that the only right time is always right now"*_
This book centres around the author's exploration of the mysteries of Shamans' ceremonies in the Netherlands in search of self-discovery and her weird journey through the spiritual realm.
I like the author's writing style a lot as I have already read several books by the same author before and this book like other books again was a greatly written book. It's an engrossing journey that pulled me in just when I needed it. Every chapter reveals teachings and traditions that shout significance, from emotional peaks to the spiritual nooks and corners of the Netherlands. I have no complaints because this book taught me about spirituality, optimism, and how to ride the waves of life.
Overall, it is a great book to read about spirituality and positivity.
The narration of the book is plain, the language is quintessential since the author targets a worldwide reader base, and despite the rituals and living of the Shamans (which form the core subject of the book) are fairly unknown to many of us, Kumar has wisely entwined them with simple motivational experiences of hers put forward to her readers.
A few narratives are remarkable, including: Happiness and sorrow are the two sides of the same coin. Both are necessary to complete the cycle. You don't rejoice in one and shun another. You treat both with equal respect and grace. The honesty with which the author has put forward up the book is commendable. This isn't a monotonous self-help motivational book like the several others in the market.
I believe the book cover could've been slightly more cheerful, like the one in the first edition. I would recommend I Am Another You to everyone who needs a kick to move ahead in life, leaving their uncertainties and apprehension behind.
The book is the journey of the author, Priya Kumar, undertaken to find the true meaning and purpose of her life. She went to Netherlands and took part in some rituals which led to life changing breakthroughs. Through this book she narrates how we can also make it our journey.
Each chapter in the book is for a ritual she participated in. Though we know most of the things mentioned, the authors approach validates them and the reader is motivated to follow through. This is the power of a motivational speaker and Priya Kumar has done the job well.
Hear it from horse's mouth to lead your own powerful, personal transformation.
One of the earliest books by Priya Kumar, I Am Another You does not disappoint. It revolves around the spiritual journey undertaken by her with the shamans in Netherlands and discovering her own true self and awakening in herself a new sense of vitality and mindfulness. The book is peppered with quotes and learnings which is Priya Kumar’s trademark and make for quite a thoughtful reading. Each chapter deals with a separate dimension of the soul and mind and concludes with a learning which holds true and relevant still today from the time the book was written. The language is simple, the narrative and flow of the story lucid and easy to understand. The only downside is that there was too little information about the lives led by the shamans themselves and a bit of a background as to how they evolved to be who they are. This could have added a lot more depth and understanding to the learnings throughout the book. Overall, this is a journey which we take along with the author which is funny, enlightening, fun and awakening, all at the same time. Some of the practices are quite gross (considering I am not that enlightened still) but make for good reading. To conclude, a quick and fun read which will stay for long with the readers!
When was the last time I completed reading a book in one go? I don’t even have the faintest memory about that. The book "I am another YOU" made me keep aside all other tasks in hand gripped my soul until I read through last words of the book.
I believe in the statement that a book is equivalent to 1000 miles of a journey into the universe. This book by Priya Kumar proved the statement once again to its very core. Truly speaking, though Priya has left the Netherlands in 2004 after spending 3 weeks there, I am still there. I am now longing to go through the remaining 8 rituals. What a journey and how well explained. Without spoiling the suspense for the future reader is after reading the chapter 'The Salt Cleanse', I had to take a pause of at least an hour to recover from what Priya had gone through. I was looking at my palms held together for a very long time with tears in my eyes and revelation in my heart. That one ritual changed everything about me.
Here, I have to tell the story behind how I got my hands on this book and the other book by Priya, "License to Live". We were a group of Air Veterans who planned to felicitate our super senior named Hony Flying Officer CH Vijayan, who was celebrating his 95th birthday on 20 Mar 2018. We all arrived at Kannur, Kerala (the place of felicitation) Surprisingly, none of had met before and we know each other through a Facebook group named 'Air Warriors of IAF' created by one our senior veteran. I met many interesting personalities during this occasion and one among them was Vijayalakshmi ma'am. We started our conversation in a casual tone and eventually turned out be a life-changing moment for me. We were discussing the book I had authored and the process she recommended me to read two books namely, I am another YOU and License to Live. This conversation happened at the lonely Payambalam Beach. I was totally clueless about the author and the books. I trusted her and my instinct and ordered the book instantly. Now, I am glad that I heard her voice.
I received the book when I returned back to Bangalore. I could feel the energy of the book and wanted to instantly start reading it. Yet, I waited to reach home. Less, I know I am going to be faced with the biggest shock of my life.
Here is my confession! It was in the year 2009, the thought of writing a book named "Eagles Are Born to Fly High!!!" that covered my own failures and successes and what one a newly returning young soldier can prepare himself/herself after returning to the civilian life. I thought a unique way to start the book and named the first chapter as 'The End' and the concluding chapter as 'The All New Beginning'. I was proud of coming up with such a unique idea. The book was published in Oct 2017 and it was well received for the unique way of sequencing the chapters.
Well back to I am another You. The shock I hit my spine was when I opened this book to see the first chapter is named 'The End' and the last chapter 'The Beginning'. I was dumbstruck for a while and looked at the year of publishing and here you go. The author Priya has published the book in the year 2009. Now, I am no more shocked, especially after completing the book. Now, I am wondering how our life has crossed even though we have never met before and the way this book reached my hands. Above all, I am now convinced about the connectedness. A note to author Priya Kumar - Hope you will have an answer to the question I ask myself on how I named the chapters in line with your thought without even knowing about it.
"How naive to think that I am different or I am the only one. We are all the same beings, the same force, partaking of the same pressure and the same passion."I am, another you... This is a powerful story of breaking the norms and embarking on a journey of unknown into the hinterworld of Netherlands. The author takes us through her fascinating tale of spiritual awakening as many years ago she was trying to escape from a world that threatened her very identity. Netherlands taught her many things, now she wants to spread her knowledge to the world, her learnings that can be applied in daily life.
"I Am Another You" is an inspiring memoir invoking a sense of self-worth and purpose. It documents the spiritual journey of the author in Netherlands. I have read so many personal growth books but this hit different. It came with a fresh new perspective to look into things. As she narrates her experiences and lessons gathered in this expedition, her honest account resonates with us. The narration is sprinkled with tad bit of humour and satire, which in turn made reading this book a good experience.
"If we have no tolerance for our own shortcomings, how can we be tolerant of others?"
Coming to the writing, it's so engaging that almost 200 pages went in a jiffy. The tone throughout the book is kept very light-hearted thus making it an easy going self-help book, not too flimsy, not too intense, just about right. I like takeaways at the end in personal growth books, and this book provided exactly that. The overall book was inspiring. Recommended to all.
I am another you by Priya Kumar is a trip to nowhere to find yourself. She is the narrator of the story and the author also. The book is written with the intention to heal and uplift humanity with kindness. With every chapter, she quenches the thirst for spiritual guidance.
It is a journey that begins when she was on the edge of sanity. A failed woman, crushed from inside, lost all confidence in her. Expectations of others and of her on herself made her lost her charm and lead her to confusion, dishearten. She took a flight to the Netherlands, where she met shamans who help her to see her soul and acknowledge her passion. She has to follow some rituals and unfold in the end what she acquired from it.
Read the book to find out answers to her questions.
My review on it
I have read many books on the spiritual journey of some people or learn ways to acquire your desires. But this one was quite different from the others. In this book, she tells us how naive we are when we blame the situation or others in our downfall. But I found out some of the things that I was already aware of, some of which were new and I liked her approach towards it.
She learns some deep meaning in such a simple way. Like when she falls for somebody, how she understands the meaning of love, admiration. Kahuna the shaman helped her to understand simple things in different ways. We all can learn something every day just by changing our perspective, which is explained every time. Lessons learned by her and the readers are not different. It was like I was Priya and was nodding every now and then when I learned something and unlearn something.
I would cherish the lessons I learned and would probably spread across my reach.
My favorites from the book
Being willing is important than being ready. Ready is not the first step willing is.
Your spirit knows how much you need. Allow yourself to new experiences.
You must listen fully without interference of your own limited conclusions. The absence of it marks the beginning of misunderstanding.
Finally, one must unlearn and learn it again from a different perspective.
Freedom is never found in extremes, its always found in balance
This book definitely stirred something in me. Starting with the end and ending with the beginning, it follows the authors spiritual journey in Netherlands
Every activity that she is made to do, gives her a larger insight and ends up teaching her something that not just she but we can also cherish
Even the most simplest of challenges have such a depth of a meaning in them.
I absolutely loved how the author has taken us along her journey and given us lessons after each such challenge.
She gets doubts like we all would about whether spirituality is the opposite of materialism but her guru answers them all for her, for us rather.
This was my first book in this type of a spiritual genre and I must admit I was completely blown away.
The title is completely justified, I am Another You simply asks us to accept the fact that all of us go through a journey of ups and downs, there is no point in treating another person differently since we all are the same.
A book on Spirituality! People who are a little lost in their lives and who belives in spirituality may be helped to a good extent by this book. There are plenty of beautiful messages given in the book. Most of them are something which we have been knowing but fail to realise and accept at times. So, while reading the book, one can really connect with the thoughts which the author has described as and when she covers her spiritual journey. Few of the acts in the books may look unreal but the way the realisation described by her after each of the acts seems to be so logical. Overall a good book. One can actually read this multiple times to learn , realise and get the strength to accept things in life the way they are!
From the beautiful packaging to the cover to the writing style, everything was beautiful. The best thing about the book is- people can actually relate with her at this. The quotations used and the journey to find herself was really inspiring and mesmerising.
The writing style was superb. No extra words were used. I wouldn't change a single thing about this book. Loved it so much.
