i loved this third person book even if its sad it was good long fun confusing but i got it, its realistic fiction and it takes place in the winter,the kid wanted the dog but the dad let the dog stay in the house before the dog gets adopted but they were about to sell it and the dad started to like the dog so then he let the dog stay with the family the dog's name was nicholas and they called him santa paws this book is person vs nature because they fight the winter all the time the theme of this book is the dog and winter always saving people from crazy things also i liked the fact that a kid would take care of this dog that was a stray and all he did was feed him while he was hungary than finally the kid took him home because the dog wanted a home or the dog police would take him away than the fact that they had a plane crash was sad when they were going to the cabin in the plane of their uncle thank god no one died at the crash santa paws or the boy or the boys sister or the uncle flying the plane they landed in the middle of no where in the woods what was sad was that they were in the snow taking shelter under the wing of the plane with a fire started but since the uncle was is hurt worse than the kids the kids and the dog went with food searching for a road so some one can help before they whent they left their uncle with a flare some food and a coac can for the snow to heat up and so he can get water the kids were left with brownies and a food kit too with santa paws to help find a road or at least some one so they can get outta there i rate this book 5 stars because i love the way the author writes and stuff like what specifically happens in the story the kid he always goes to feed the dog so the dog does not die and he makes him his friend but the dog is a responceibility and they take the dog almost everywhere they go the parents dont get to go on the trip to the cabin but the dog they go even to the store with the dog but they dont let the dog into the store so they keep him in the car but they love the dog more than just a pet they love him like a child of the family but the dog isnt normal the dog saved these peoples life there was a fire so the dog saved them by barking because the people were asleep and the dog woke them up and the people thanked the dog because hes a hero but at the begining the dog was left by the dogs family he was the runt of the pack so he slept and woke up one morning to find out that they left to find some food but they forgot him and they left him then the dog catchers caught the family in the winter then other people found the dogs at the shelter and adopted the whole family but santa paws and santa paws found a way to eat and drink and survive by living at a school or out side a school then thats when the kid found him but i forgot the kids name because this was a long time ago that i read this book so i forget alot but i remember alot too so any way the kid takes him food i think you should read this book because you will not stop once you start reading and that book is a long but good book i read it and it felt like i was there with santa paws and the kid when they talked about where they were going to go whats happening like i was part of the book every word makes you imagine the book while reading it if you read this book you just look at the words and you see it happening just the thing i recomend on a cold winter you need to read it so you can experiance the things i did with this book lay down in bed read this book and just relax and youll have the relaxation and entertainment i did with this book you will not get out of bed trust me on this try it when you wake up in a winter morning and this is coming from some one who hates books take it from me you need to read this thing if you dont want to read this book all i ask is to read one chapter just one and you will love it or not if you have better books than read those this is my book review please read the book if you can i hope you like it if you do read it :-}

Santa Paws save a boy from drowning from a water fountain from the mall that's why people call him santa paws. From the second adventure Gregory,her friend Patrica and santa paws went to somewhere and had a plane crash and santa paws saved them!
